IntercityHotel Hamburg Dammtor-Messe

PROS: 10 minutes walk to City Center, new and clean location. Expo center near by, Botanical Garden near by, you get a free city transportation pass every day of your stay. CONS: Expensive and poor choices breakfast

This is an excellent hotel: great rooms, clean, modern, comfy bed, good shower and quiet, great breakfast buffet, all that you need. The fact that the hotel reserved full payment for 4 nights when I arrived, even though I had paid Hotels.com in full a month beforehand, is something that needs to stop and it would be nice to have coffee facilities in the room, but overall I had a great experience.

Very good location for the congress centre (which was why I staying in Hamburg). Easily walk able into town and accessible from the airport by public transport. Friendly staff and nice room.

Easy access to public transportation. #35 bus across from the hotel is direct to central bus station and bus station. Other buses and train stations are minutes away.

The IntercityHotel Hamburg Dammtor-Messe, is an ok hotel. Plain and rather sterile lobby and restaurant. Needs some flair to make it a better welcome. The hotel though is the worst I've stayed in over my 6 weeks of vacation because the cigarette smokers smoke in their rooms and the smoke goes right across the corridor, the lift lobby of your floor and into your own bathroom through the air-conditioning system. This was the third stay I've had here and this has occurred on every occasion. The smokers will endure a miserable, slow and suffocating demise!

easy, smart and clean

Great location, but that is probably the only thing. Staff was reasonably pleasant too, breakfast buffet was nice, but to get to and from your table was a challenge. Tables are squeezed together and you have to find a way to get around. My biggest disappointment was the hairdryer, lasted approx. 10 seconds when switched off, so tried my colleague's but it was the same. I have reported it to reception, so next morning it lasted 15 seconds (!). After two days and seeing all the women at breakfast with wet hair I have realised that is probably what every room doesn't have - GOOD HAIRDRYER. Never in my 25 years travelling around the world have I ever come across this.

Nice Hotel, right next to the Hamburg Messe (trade fair) site so extremely convenient. Pleasant stay. My only complaint was the lack of coffee facilities in the rooms.

This was perfect. I was knackered after a really early start, flights, a big drive, meetings and wanted somewhere calm just to chill. It's next to a big park and really new and can't be faulted. The rate was ludicrously low at less than GBP70 per night but I guess it is a lot more when there are exhibitions/conferences on at the Messe. Thoroughly recommend.
