Hea
It is Tiny, too tiny. I was glad I was on my own and could use the upper bunk bed for "storage" but for the rest I was not impressed with efficiency of the space. Also the there is a Club with bouncing basses downstairs...so could hear that vibrating in the night...

It was exactly what I expected for the price
Bed is super tiny, bathrooms were so-so. It’s fine for a brief visit as a crash pad while in New York. Bring ear plugs because the noise from the club downstairs and the street pours into the rooms. Building is very charming.

Great spot in West Village
Great location. Small but comfy room. Hall smelled of cigarette smoke but overall great place.

Interesting Concept
Good Things: Very kitschy rooms. Feels like you are on a train or boat. Lots of storage. Bed was pretty comfortable. Good window shades Friendly staff Elevator Clean Couple areas of improvement: WiFi speed, they claim it's fast, that's a lie. Browsing Instagram photos took 1-2 minutes to load at times. Also, the hotel is a Verizon dead zone. At beast, I got 1xRTT. Signs. There are no signs to the bathrooms. I thought there was 1 shower and 2 toilets for the whole floor, but on my way out, I heard a shower, and found two more toilets and 2 more shower stalls. Things to Know: Sleeping late can be tricky as people start waking up and opening and closing doors. The hotels location is about 10 minute walk from the 123 trains. Be prepared.

Tolerance and Expectations
I expected to dislike my stay there. We men of a certain age can get squishy about shared bathrooms and the like. Instead, I was delighted. It's a wonderful building with all the charm one would expect. The lobby was a treat of nostalgia, but the staff at check in were friendly and efficient. The room is small by hotel standards, but it's remarkably efficient in its use of space and, with more than a few sailboat crossings of the Atlantic under my belt, it was comfortable even though it wasn't moving. The bathroom was clean, bright and when I entered the first time to find I was to share it with an attractive young man and woman (who spoke as if they'd just met - in their bathrobes), I decided to roll with it. Never thought of it again. The lobby bar was pretty in the light and loud and raucous in the evening and, had I not just returned from an event that evening, I would have been pleased to share a drink with folks half my age. If not younger. The restaurant off the lobby is charming, though the baked goods were not suitable for my breakfast, being gluten intolerant. But it was fun to learn that my new favorite diner - the Bus Stop Cafe - is a five minute walk. And it was fun to realize that I'm far more tolerant than many old farts like me are, and admit that I'll likely return to the Jane.
