Coolfont Resort

For the short time we were there I used the salt water pool and hot tub. Both were clean and well maintained. Room was excellent and staff were pleasant. Even used the in room jacuzzi. The only thing that I had problem with was a power and heat failure, between midnight and 4am on a 27° night and no way to contact desk or maintainence, because of stupid covid restrictions. Very cold in room and light sheets, no heavy blanket available in room. Complaint is not about management, a tree fell on wires, but inability to contact mgmt

I was intrigued by the unusual shape of the building and the quiet location. The entrance and check in area are very attractive, as is the restaurant. I did not see the rooms n the main building but the resort offers accommodations in different settings. Our King Suite was in the Woodland Bldg. As I said, great location but outdated furniture. The sofa bed did not allow for a restful sleep and the bedroom was not dark enough because of the outside lamps and no room darkening curtains. The large pool and jacuzzi were in a separate bldg. Everything looked a little bit neglected.

Clean & safe; little pricey. Room prices should be the same at Country Inn room for $120 (Berkeley Springs downtown). Overall, it was nice to stay.

Under renovation - no lake, trails or tennis court

Sorry, but it's still under renovation - the lake is full of algae, there is no map (so you can't find the hiking trails), and the room leaves much to be desired. The sheets were scratchy, the room damp with no balcony, the fridge is the size of a postage stamp and the shower was tepid, at best. The staff was great, so I wish them well, but the resort still needs a lot of work.

Disappointing

Coolfont was cold throughout the facility particularly in hallways and bathroom inside room. Some people were eating with jackets on. Dining/bar was very loud. Servers were yelling. Menu is limited. Floor in room was vibrating which was bizarre. Walls between rooms were thin because we listened to a couple arguing even though our TV was on. Grounds behind facility were littered with pieces of insulation. The pros were dessert was tasty and our room charge of $246 was refunded because we ended up leaving that evening because we were disappointed in our stay to that point.

HORRIBLE stay. Went to Antrim for the same price.

This is an antiseptic an uncomfortable place to stay. When we first arrived, we noticed a completely empty parking lot which is odd for a resort town lake Berkeley Springs West, WV. There’s no electric charger for a car either. We went to check in to an empty lobby with less charm and appeal than a campground. Upon checking in we asked the receptionist what’s interesting about this place and she couldn’t tell us. It was like she’s never heard anything about the building. We were given two keys to our room and incredibly involved instructions to wind our way through the bowels of the main floor, passing open kitchen doors with unfinished molding, up a winding staircase (no elevators) to our room.When I open the door we found and uninviting room of mismatched furniture and styles. There was a soaking Jacuzzi style tub in the corner of the room and we had selected a romance package involving wine and rose petals. Unfortunately the rose petals were silk pieces of trash spread all over the bed. It was worse than if nothing had been there at all. It was late so we decided to settle into what felt less comfortable than a hospital bed with a very thin sheets and too high pillows. The night’s sleep was very uncomfortable as we were woken up a number of times by what was the sound of somebody walking on gravel and shoveling coal. We woke in the morning and got out of there, skipping the Dollar Store “breakfast” of some boxes of cereal and a couple of loaves of bread.
