Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Beckley

The hotel room smelled moldy and the floor in the shower was very soft - we think the boards underneath are rotten and therefore the room smelled terrible. Not the hotels fault but other guests were extremely noisy at 5am because they were leaving and not very considerate of others.

The coffee maker did not work in the Room. The staff seemed to be very customer service oriented. A little pricey for the services given during the epidemic.

Although signs were up requiring masks, most hotel staff, including those at front desk, did not make any effort to wear mask, or ask any guests to do so. We had problems with a dripping pipe overhead (noise, not water), and our room was not clean. They said the couldn't clean it didn't our stay due to COVID, but that's strange... worried enough about COVID not to clean rooms, but no so worried the staff will wear masks.

No toilet paper, candy on floor in our room from previous guests...tv was analog in our king suite...was not worth 200 buckd at all

There was a restaurant in the hotel which was our reason for choosing. we did not end up eating there. Check In and leaving went smoothly.

Our stay this year I decided to use Holiday Inn. I preferred the Express but had to go with the suites for our return home. I will not do it again! I would rather spend the same amount for two rooms rather than repeat this visit. We arrived around 3:30 or 4 PM. The two gentlemen at the front desk do not have people skill at all. Maybe 5 words were spoken from the fellow with the tattoos. Considering how much I spent on our room, I expected more. More personality, better dressed and certainly what was required for our stay. I was not happy upon our arrival, with the fact that I would have needed to spend another $70 for breakfast (3 growing boys), run down to the desk to get towels, again and then get the bed linens. For $242 for one nights stay, I expect more. This was our second stay at a Holiday Inn for this vacation and again, disappointment abounds. Upon research, I noticed there where rooms available for $139. Why was mine $242. I don’t know. But I was told a third party booking prevented me from getting my bill adjusted. There are enough apps I will not be using Expedia again, nor staying at a Holiday Inn. As if vacationing under COVID-19 protocol wasn’t difficult enough, it certainly was frustrating have the staff member (possibly mgr) hand be three towels, a set of sheets in a bag but the comforter not in a bag and no mask on or gloves. Everyone needs masks in required states! Highly disappointed.

The hotel was clean. We only stayed overnight but happy with our experience.
