The Pucic Palace

We really enjoyed our time at the Pucic Palace. The service was incredible and the staff went out of their way including helping us with our transportation. They're breakfast was to die for. Incredible doesn't not describe how good it was. If you are going to Dubrovnik, this is where you want to stay.

This is an amazing hotel. It’s right in the center of the Old City so convenient to everything. The staff is very good. They are friendly, professional and knowledgeable. It’s loud until around midnight so don’t expect any early nights of sleep. The property is full of charm and history.

The staff was great, as was the location. The building is ancient but very well maintained. The bed was good. Breakfast was very good. The room was over the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and we were serenaded by their music, but it wasn’t distasteful, and they quit at a reasonable hour. The major issue we had was with the shower. The water flow was a little more than a dribble, it was difficult to adjust the temperature, and it was almost impossible to soap up and then rinse off. And like many European showers much of the water winds up on the bathroom floor.

A day before check-in, we became ill and considered cancelling our trip. We inquired about cancelling with Hotels.com who told us we would not be able to get a refund so we decided to stick it out. When Hotels.com reached out to inquire about a refund, Pucic Palace took it as a cancellation and cancelled our reservation that was already booked and paid for. When we went to check in at around 4:30pm, the front desk told us our room was given away to local performers for the festival that was going on that week. She said she thought we were not going to show up so they gave it away and nothing would be available until after 10pm that night! We were then accused of lying by the receptionist. I'm still not sure why. Ridiculous. We ended up checking in later that night to nothing spectacular - old rooms that lacked the charm we were expecting from a historical hotel and it wasn't the cleanest - and eventually just ended up leaving and booking a room at the Excelsior which was great. Besides the location in Old Town, definitely would not recommend staying at Pucic Palace.

Excellent staff and service, perfect location, large comfortable room, great restaurants on premises -- close to everything. A great place in Dubrovnik.
