Extended Stay America - Fishkill - Route 9

This is probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. First, there were sketchy groups of people hanging out by the entryways at all hours. At best they were only smoking cigarettes. At worst, there's drug activity going on. Second, there seems to be some kind of issue with the smoke alarms in the hotel. There were multiple signs in the kitchen area warning that the windows needed to be opened if the "stove" was turned on. Around 9:00 pm the fire alarm went off, I'm guessing someone in another room turned on their stove (really just a hot plate). The hotel itself is very run down and has seen much better days. The cabinets in the kitchen were totally scuffed up, the bathroom had a slow drain in the sink and a broken shower curtain rod, and the bedroom had only one bedside lamp and no other lighting. There were signs that there had been a matching lamp on the other side of the bed but when I asked about this at the front desk I was told that the rooms only had the one light. Whatever utensils, plates, pots, etc. had ever been in the suite were removed. The website still notes that these are available in all of the rooms though. I was told at check-in that there were coffee makers in the rooms, but there was none in mine. Probably for the best as I can only imagine the condition of these items if they were available.

The agent was very nice and helpful. She is accommodating even she works alone. Downside is, this hotel needs some renovating. The pillows are uncomfortable. The soda bed mattress is terribly needs to be changed. The spring is literally popping out.

Other than the fact that: 1. They charged me an extra $54 for the dog that wasn't mentioned on the booking AND 2. The place wasn't particularly clean AND 3. I had to fight the fruit flies for my meals in the room AND 4. There was no coffee in the lobby, nor a coffee pot in the room AND 5. Although it was an "efficiency", there was no silverware nor plates (what's the point of n efficiency?)...other than that it was great

The first room that they gave me was not cleaned. I thought that was hilarious. The second room I got was ok until it was time for a shower. I noticed there was hair stuck on the shower walls. I ended up leaving
