Lovely property. Ocean views from most rooms and dining areas, including outdoor dining terrace. Walking distance to downtown Carmel and ocean beach. Friendly staff. Daily complimentary sangria and fresh baked cookies.

Best hotel in Carmel
We had an amazing stay at La Playa Carmel! The staff was super friendly and accommodating and the hotel was absolutely stunning! Our room was meticulously clean and our ocean view was to die for. We will definitely be coming back to stay here in the future when we visit Carmel again :) PS- check out their breakfast and sangria options during the day. They also give out chocolate chip cookies at night. Such a cute little idea!

Great hotel and super nice staff
I love going to this hotel. Nice location. View of the Ocean. Nice breakfast and comfy, dark wood bar and restaurant. Excellent staff. Michael is enthusiastic and happy to carry suitcases, and the check in and manager are friendly and efficient. Nicely decorated for Christmas.

Cute but too expensive
My bf and I drove down from SF for a short getaway. Upon checking in to the front desk, they had to charge an extra 42$ that wasn’t listed on the hotel.com app. They said it was so we could receive ‘complementary’ items like sangria and cookies. I feel like they should have made that an optional charge if we wanted those items. Anyway, the hotel itself was beautiful with nice outdoor chairs and tables and lovely gardens. They have a nice heated pool to relax in. You can see the water from a distance at the hotel. Our hotel room was very, very small but clean. That night after we went to sleep we kept hearing the pipes clanking or banging. We didn’t hear it during the day or the next morning but it was annoying and disruptive during the night. All the staff were great. I wouldn’t stay again for the price and noise.

Staff were all very helpful and accommodating. The beds are comfortable which is a huge plus. We left the window open and listened to the waves crashing and it was peaceful. Would stay again without a doubt.

Gorgeous hotel, walking distance to the beach and shops/restaurants. Beautiful grounds and pool.

just ok.
The original room they put us in was awful. So small and dark, not at all like the pics. We moved to another room that was better. The weather was hot and there’s no air conditioning only a fan in the room that didn’t work well. No screens on the windows so leaving them open there were moths inside the room at night.

The hotel is in a perfect location. The grounds are beautiful, the breakfast was great,however we stayed in a tiny room right above the entrance to the hotel. It was very noisy. Do not stay in room 306. On our last night we were awoken at 10:30 by a hotel employee knocking on our door to ask if we ordered water. We obviously were not very happy
