Hotel Apogia Nice

Despite a very shaky start at reception when we checked in, the overall stay was good. The receptionist couldn't find our boooing and then wanted to charge us for three nights, even though we had already paid, eventually 10 minutes later he appeared from the back office to say he had a copy of our reservation.

Perfect location, very close to everything and calm at the same time, my single room was upgraded to double and it was very spacious with tea making facilities. Really pleased.

This is suppose to be a 4 star hotel. It is not. The lobby and hallways are nice looking and breakfast room is clean, but that is the best it has to offer. Walking into my room was stepping back in time to a 1980’s Holiday Inn in disrepair. There were three items I asked to be fixed; the safe malfunctioned and would not close properly (they fixed), the cheap plastic shower curtain was so long that you had to stand on it in the shower which is gross and slippery (dangerous), and the light block blind was broken. They did nothing on the last two. They offers me to change rooms, but said all rooms are same condition. Another big aggravation was the WiFi, which did not work half the time, no one knew how to fix this, and I depend on internet to run my business, especially to communicate with my personnel around the world. I will be back to Nice next year and will not stay there EVER again! I told them I would post a negative review and they said it did not matter to them. Also, I did email Hotels.com about the situation and did not receive any support from them, so keep that in mind when booking through them.

Bathrooms had mold/fungus. I took pics but i don't know how to upload them here. I am not exaggerating. I asked to be switched rooms and the second room had it too. The amount of mold was quite embarrassing/disgusting. Im going to file an official complaint against them once i figure out how. Internet was not working. I had to use my data... Both issues were discussed with front desk, but they disregarded my complaints. Even at checkout. Complete disregard. Definitely not a 4 star. Shame on expedia for giving this hotel this rating.

For North American standards it is not a 4 star. It is a 3 star. The service was good. They were helpful with advice. The location was good thanks to the new Tram that opened that weekend, otherwise it would not have been very convenient. It is about 20 min walk to the beach and 20 mins to old town Nice. It is a good location if you want to take the train to Monaco etc. For me the reason, I didn't rate it higher was simply for the condition of the room, the headboard was scratched up, the hair dryer was nonsense and had no power, they only gave you waterbottles on your first night, the ice machine was broken and didn't have any alternatives, they didn't have conditioner or body lotion and lastly no iron in the room. Maybe I am high maintenance but for 4 stars I expect some of those things. The wifi sucked as well, I couldn't connect half the time.

Property is in a great location. Ten minutes walk to the harbor, bus station, hop on hop off stop, little eating placing and grocery stores. Staff was extremely helpful. This place was a great find.
