The Salem Inn

Ok so I would have given this place an OK review until I had to deal with the front desk about a billing issue. I booked through hotels.com and paid a lot of money for 2 nights in the smallest, dumpiest room they had (which I did not know at the time). The room smelleK.terrible The carpet was stained. The bed and pillows were the most uncomfortable thing I had ever laid on in my life. It was supposed to be myself and my one daughter. At the last minute my other daughter (8 yo) decided to come. I called and asked if I needed a bigger room. I was told they would "just put a rollaway on there, no problem". End of conversation. Didn't think anything of it. Got there, checked in remotely. No issues. Didn't have to deal with anyone. Great. Got there. Kind of disgusted by the room but the bathroom was newish so we were dealing with it. No fire log given so we slept in freezing cold conditions...there was a remote but didn't find it until the next day bc it was in a drawer. The furniture was mismatched yard sale, falling apart crap. The breakfast staff was lovely and the only redeeming quality to the place. After we left I called the desk bc I saw an extra 368 charge on my credit card. I spoke to Jennifer, who stated she was the manager. She was the saltiest, nastiest person have ever had to deal with in my life. I was told that I was charged xtra for the rollaway bed and not told. I told her I was not told about it and she was so nasty I can't even explain. never again. Way too $$

This was an amazing Inn, we had a very large room, comfortable bed ,very clean sheets, air conditioner and heating system was brand new. The bathroom was remodeled which was great for us! The water was hot! The staff was great from the morning girls who went out of their way to give us info on Salem to the night crew headed by Dennis.. awesome people. Our breakfast was bountiful as well as delicious with each mornings menu available to you by your phone. This was a wonderful trip for us and we will come back! Thank you to the Salem Inn for our wonderful stay.

Loved the spacious room, and updated and clean bathroom! The location can’t be beat. Will definitely recommend and stay here again! Didn’t experience any ghosts, sadly

The hotel had a very historical look and feel. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room itself was very nice and clean.

I cannot say enough great things about Salem Inn! A few girlfriends and I got together for a girl’s trip and chose this property for its central location and charm - we were not disappointed. We stayed in the Peabody House which was so cute and spacious and provided everything we needed (plus more, like a kitchen!!!). The staff was INCREDIBLE! We travelled during Covid so they took every measure to keep us safe during these times. We were served daily breakfast, which we got to preorder and was served to us upon arrival each morning. The staff was friendly and responsive to all out needs. We will definitely be back!!

The Salem Inn was a perfect choice for us! It was extremely clean, the location was perfect!!! We parked our car when we arrived & never moved it until we left, as we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The shops, dining, tours and service were superb! We will definitely return to Salem, and will choose to stay at the Inn. It met all of our needs and had the perfect Salem vibe. And the stairs were fun!

It’s a nice central location, the property was clean and comfortable. Contactless check in went smoothly and the hotel was very accommodating to me when I needed to change my reservation to a bigger room. I would definitely stay here again.

The first day we checked in the woman was rude, and I felt like she was rushing us. She did not explain all of the changes in the Inn due to COVID-19 such as room cleaning. The bed was too firm for my comfort, but they did give us an egg crate to help. I still suggest getting a new bed because it squeaked. The last couple of days were good, everything was walking distance and we could make multiple stops back at the hotel if we bought souvenirs.
