I loved the property, the staff, the good and the beauty and convenience of it’s location. I was extremely happy with my choice and would stay there again.
Excellent staff. Beautiful area. Just 3 train stops from downtown Dublin
This is the nice old property in a good condition. Breakfast was very good. Excellent location, close to the center of town and very quiet.
Wonderful breakfast!! Welcoming and helpful staff (invited us to breakfast upon our early arrival).
Very nice place with wonderful hospitality. short walk to the RDS and to get to the train or bus.
Aberdeen Lodge is located in a very nice part of Dublin. It was within walking distance of a pretty rocky beach as well as a stores and pubs. From all that we saw, this was a very safe area as lots of people were out walking. The owner was very quick to welcome us; we were offered tea, coffee, and homemade cookies. The breakfast was spectacular! Our room was very quiet and comfortable. If we return to Dublin, we will be certain to make another reservation at the Aberdeen Lodge and highly recommend you to consider it. We were able to park our rental car at the hotel free of charge. The staff at the lodge is wonderful--very, very helpful in making you feel that you are welcomed there.
No coffee in room but brought up by obliging staff after I appeared in dining room in my pyjamas!
A lovely personal touch. Great breakfast and a friendly team.
What a great place! Located about 15 minutes to the city center by bus, of which the stop is less than 200 feet from the front door. The train stop is a short 10 minute walk. There are some very good restaurants, bars, a convenience store, a grocery store and pharmacy nearby (about a 10 minute walk). The beach walk is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The entire staff was fantastic! The breakfast was delicious and Everytime you came back from touring the city you were offered coffee and/or tea. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean as well as the bathroom. All were cleaned daily. I noticed in some reviews people fuss about the carpeting being outdated; that may be the case but it is clean. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.
Aberdeen Lodge is a lodgings of great paradox. It is a property that is in the heart of an international city, staffed by young friendly internationals and supplies fast modern broadband... and the rest of it is pure 1950s seaside boarding house. That’s right folks, every expense has been spared with room keys attached to huge acrylic key rings that you’re supposed to check in at reception when going out - a reception that is mainly unmanned giving anybody passing access to your room. Also, what’s with having to ring the doorbell to get back in? That’d be just about acceptable if the reception was manned but be prepared to wait for someone to actually answer. The rooms? Well, almost a sitcom. Doors that actually run between rooms which although locked have old fashion locks that could easily be picked. With just a door between you and your neighbours you can hear every word they say (and all other noises they make yes!). One channel TVs too. Waste bin or recycling basket? Of course not! I think they just expect you to take it home with you. I was happy to disabuse them of that idea (especially as part of the rubbish was an entirely unnecessary paper map they gave me in an age of smartphones). Coffee or tea making facilities? Never but they do give you an option of calling reception to bring you up a cup (because nobody would feel awkward doing that!). Lots more cheapness abounds (except actual room charge!) but I’ve run out of characters. You get the gist though.
