Thistle Holborn

We spent 6 nights at the Thistle Holborn and recommend it very highly. The service is really terrific, especially Gina at the front desk (Thank you!). Location near Russell Square was very convenient. The rooms were very quiet and very clean. The sheets and iinens are high quality. We had one night in a smaller room and 5 nights in a junior suite, which we can recommend very highly. I think it has spoiled us for future hotels!

In general, our stay at the Thistle Holborn was great but one thing put us off at the beginning: our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3:00 and we were asked to wait in the lounge and she would come get is in 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, we went back to the front desk to enquire and the person who had checked us in was gone and her replacement told us our room was ready. Makes me wonder how long they would have left us sitting there. Other than that, it was nice and we would probably stay there again. Clean room, very comfortable bed and bedding, great location, etc etc. Note: Incredible water pressure in sink - beware! In-room coffee is instant. We didn't try their breakfast.

We loved the hotel. Staff were great, room was comfortable and clean, location was excellent! Breakfast was yummy and we loved having the lounge.

This hotel does not meet US hotel standards. There are many examples, however, for the sake of this review I will provide one example: There are no water bottles in the room. When you go to the front desk to get water, they tell you the water is filtered and should get water from your bathroom sink! Not!! So every night I would go downstairs to get water from the restaurant. One night a man by the name of "Steven" said he would personally bring up water to our room. I waited one hour and he never brought up the water. I then went downstairs to ask for water again. Steven was no where to be found so I went into the restaurant bar area looking for water bottles or faucet water. Steven shows up and tells me I am "sneeking" around his restaurant and becomes agitated, rude and nasty. This was witnessed by other hotel management and no one seemed to care about they way he was acting or talking. Stay away from this hotel that doesn't understand the primary basics of how to take care of their paying patrons.

Good location with bus transport outside the door. Room 614 was particularly spacious. Clean and pleasant. Impressed that the in-room bar was complimentary. Will return.
