It was a bit confusing when we first arrived as the hotel is off a little side street and the taxi dropped us by the major road. But once we figured it all out, it was all good. Of course the area is a bit noisy but I think it would be like that anywhere you are in walking distance to so many of the tourist type landmarks. The stay me and my wife had here was very good. This was our first destination for our honeymoon and set the bar very high. We stayed in a studio-style apartment and it was just the right size for us. There was a full kitchen stocked with utensils, cups, plates, etc. but we did not use that at all. There was a small washer that we did utilize and was […] very convenient. The bedroom was large and had plenty of space for us and our belongings. There was a good sense of security and we were able to leave our belongings there. The biggest plus to this place is the location. It is located close to....everything. Just a 7 minute walk to the historical building, which we used as a point of reference for our daily journeys. Just down the road from the Colloseum, the Forum, Circus Maximus, I mean its close to everything. Excellent service and location make this a must stay for anyone. The only down side I will say is that the bed was not very comfortable and it was loud with the restaurant that was just outside our window. Thank you for the stay! Lisateave

This was an excellent hotel in an excellent location. Facilities were good and the fact that it was self catering meant you could do what you wanted. The hotel is also right by the bus stops.

We stayed at the Dolce Vita Residence for five nights in mid-February 2013. The accomodation is perfectly located for exploring the sights of Rome by foot, and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. However, there are two reasons why I feel that I cannot recommend the Dolce Vita: 1. The noise. We were woken at approximately 1am every night by […] the bin lorry which collects (and very noisely hydraulically crushes) the refuse from the alleyway which most of the apartments in the Dolce Vita Residence face onto. There is also another building nearby which is being noisily renovated, so we were woken most mornings at 7am with drilling noises loud enough to vibrate the floor of the apartment. Although these were external factors which are obviously beyond the control of the Dolce Vita Residence, they left us tired and irritable for the duration of our visit to Rome. 2. Very little natural light in the apartment. Due to the design of the Dolce Vita Residence, our apartment had only a single window , which faced a narrow alleyway. This resulted in the apartment being unpleasantly dark in the main living area, which did not encourage us to spend any time at the apartment, wheras we had intended to cook the occasional meal there and to use it as somewhere to relax between activities. Our trip was for my wifes 40th birthday and we travelled as a family with 2 children aged 14 and 11. We received a very warm welcome at the Dolce Vita from the lady on reception,we were a little early (which we knew) and she was very apologetic that our apartment wasn't ready, but couldn't be more helpful in taking care of our luggage so we could get […] straight out and exploring. We were given a great map on which she marked points of interest, supermarkets and a couple of restaurants with approx times for walking. When we got into the apartment we were really pleased, it was very clean and loads of room for the 4 of us. The best thing about the Dolce Vita is the location, it really couldn't be better trevi fountain, piazza navona, spanish steps and colosseum all 15 minutes. vatican 45 minutes. When you go to the colosseum you will be approached by guides doing english speaking tours, this is a MUST !! Try to do one that does Palatine hill at the same time, its around 25 euros. Whilst you in this part of town visit the Baths of Caracalla, few visitors do. We really liked the Dolce Vita but i must comment on the noise. I ignored other reviews thinking the people were being overly critical, but it is very very noisy, people talking on phones, cars with music pumping out, rubbish collections all hours of the night. Then construction at 7am !! In fairness not the Dolce Vitas fault, but maybe some extra special double glazing required. 9/10 would go back tomorrow (with ear plugs!!!) Lisateave

Hotel location is amazing, 5 min walk to The Forum, Coliseum and within 20 mins to the most important tourist sites. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. We are a family of 5 and the room although comfortable was a little tight (the eating table was right next to the sofa-bed were our kids slept and the eating area barely fit us). Still the kitchen […] had everything that one would need to prepare simple meals (no microwave) and it is very comfortable to be able to eat in, particularly if traveling with small kids. overall we had a great experience, would go back to Dolce Vita, and totally recommend it to others. We had a great time here. It was a true home away from home. The staff there treated us like family. If we ever go back to Rome this is where we be staying. We had our own kitchen. Which had everything in it that we need. A supermarket close by. And the hotel is place such that we could walk to all the sights. We found that a lot of family were booking […] this hotel and a lot of them keep coming back because of the service that they have gotten from the staff and the wonderful apartment. We went during Christmas. We were worried that most of it would be closed but everyday we were out and about with the wonderful weather. Lisateave

For the price, rooms are large. It's really a small apartment, not a traditional hotel room. You should know the front desk is not staffed from 10 pm until about 5 a.m. That's the only negative. But the location is FABULOUS, within walking distance of virtually everything you'd want to visit in Rome. We would definitely stay here again if returning […] to Rome. I'd put the DVR in the funky cool little hotel category. Very large, well decorated and clean rooms, all different and interesting. Some of the amenities and room features aren't going to stack up to a large luxury hotel but that is more than adequately reflected in the price. The location is awesome, close to the Fontana de Trevi and Foro di Traiano. Did all the sightseeing walking from the hotel, the only downside was the cable TV that was not working in the days I stayed at the hotel. We did not order breakfast, but there was a market two blocks from the hotel and we bought all we needed there.

very trendy hotel. Was caught off guard by an extra charge that needed to be paid in cash, a city tax of 2 Eur per person per night, not included by Expedia.com. Bed was firm, but a usual european style. Air conditioning was a little on the fritz, but was comfortable.

Location and room size were great. However we were in room number 2/3 on the first floor and the garbage collectors woke us up EVERY morning at 4AM!!! when they picked up garbage from the resturant in the alley!

Location is great, in walking distance to cafes, restaurants, Trevi fountain, the Spanish steps, the coloseum the forum, and good shopping. You could walk to Vatican City probably take 3/4 hour. The location of this hotel is awesome- it's in the heart of Rome. Don't worry about the fact that it is off a small alley just off the main road. We walked to the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Emmanuel Monument. The Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica, and Villa Borghese are just a short bus ride away. The staff was very friendly […] and helpful. We had a two-story apartment (4th & 5th floor) which worked great for our family since we have older children. We spent some time in the evenings on our little balcony enjoying a glass of wine and the cooler evening air. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a market. The beds are firm, but we got used to them after the first couple of days. Overall, a really nice little hotel- we would stay here again. Lisateave

Wonderful location, large and comfortable for a family of 4. Washing machine in apt. unit was very helpful and saved us lots of cash.  Better than a hotel with all the conveniences of one. Best of all, walking distance to most attractions, even in the summer heat.

We were very impressed with the Dolce Vita Residence. we were a family of four, two children 4 & 7 travelling in July 2012. The location is perfect for seeing the Colosseum, Il Vittoriano, Spanish steps, trevi fountain etc. the apartments are modern, clean and the air conditioning is very welcome in the searing heat Rome has to offer. The apartment […] has a well equiped kitchen and is very spacious. The building is situated in a lane which is quiet enough except for the bin truck early in the morning, which can't be helped! Bring ear plugs. We hope to return to Rome next Aug for another wedding and we will be booking the DVR, without a doubt. Definitely the place to stay in Rome. Lisateave

Long walk from train station but not too bad especially if you have light luggage. We had a ton of space and the washing machine, espresso vending machine and location to Trevi Fountain, major tourist sites and nightlife a major plus. Very happy!

My husband and two teenage boys stayed for a week in this hotel. This hotel was in a great center location. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. They were very helpful booking train reservations and taxis for us. The rooms were small but comfortable and modern. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone.

Staff were very helpful. Only negative was that it was a little noisy. Proper shutters on the windows would have helped minimize the noise and light. This was our apartment. However other apartments had full blackout. I would stay there again. To all the staff, thank you!

We stayed at the Dolce Vita Residence on a recent 4 day trip to Rome. The hotel is perfectly located in old Rome and within walking distance of everything you would want to see while visiting this magnificent city. The staff were wonderful and so helpful. They even loaned us a electrical converter so we could charge our electronics and offered us umbrellas […] to take for the day when it was raining. Nicely appointed suite. Great location in terms of location within Rome but the road was a very narrow and dark alley that some might find concerning. No hotel services if you get there after 9pm.

Huge apartment suite with washing machine (no dryer). Cons - hard beds, street noise and sirens (not their fault really). Book it, you won't regret it.

Just back from 5 nights at the Dolce Vita. So close to everything. Fantastic. Room at Dolce Vita very nice. Really nice room and plenty of space. Wouldn't recommend the breakfast though. Although very nice pretty pricey for what you get. Two cafes at the end of the street are better value. Overall fab place to stay and would book again.

Like the Vatican Library, this little gem is rarely seen. We cannot speak highly enough of the staff at this accommodation - they were friendly, extremely helpful and made you feel part of their 'family'. The rooms or apartments themselves were exceptional. They were big, we had plenty of room for bags, shopping, etc. We also had a separate lounge […] room and bedroom. The rooms were clean, tidy and serviced daily. We were so fortunate to have stayed at this place. It is central to everything, and we do mean everything. Alll the attractions of old Rome are literally within walking distance. This was an apartment rather than a hotel room with a separate sitting area and small basic kitchenette. Bathroom had constant hot water and lovely shower. Great hotel in a key part of the city; stayed in the "Audrey Hepburn" room. It is adjacent to the Piazza Venezia and Vittoria Emanuele II monument. It is hidden -- as many of them are -- down a small street off of a main throughway. Very easy to walk to many popular tourist sites such as the Coloseum, Ruins, Spanish Steps, etc. Also, it is close to […] shops and a number of excellent restaurants. The hotel is clean, very modern, and very comfortable. It is really well-described as a "Residence", as this is like having a small apartment in a key location in Rome. There is no hotel restaurant, but they do offer breakfast service to your room for a fee. You are better off going to one of the many cafe's in the neighborhood. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were also genuinely helpful in trying to help tourists avoid the "tourist traps" which are numerous in Rome. If you are looking for a hotel with a great view out of your window, this is not the place to go. If you want a hotel with the amenities you find in a Westin, etc., this is not the place to go. However, step outside of the hotel, and you are in a great spot. That's what counts if you plan on spending your time exploring Rome. The price was very reasonable for the location and the size (one bedroom with separate sitting room, kitchenette, full bath) compared to others I could locate in the same area. Be sure to try Ristorante Abruzzi and Peroni which are very close by. Lisateave
