Solara Resort and Spa - Canmore

Upon checking in, had to compete with irate customer whose room wasn't ready when promised, her second time back after being sent away. They told us they were short staffed and this was a big check-out day. Diffulty finding luggage carts, but the next morning saw the maintenance people using one to spread ice-melter on sidewalks . . . no equipment of […] their own, I guess. Opening the bathroom door it looked like someone had dropped a bottle of soap/shampoo on the floor. Substance stil thee but had dried, some shares of glass still there. After hearing what we did in the lobby, we washed all of the floors. Everything else was great, beautiful place pet friendly,what staff they did have were kind, but clearly overworked. Lisateave

The place is very clean & cozy and the facilities are very comfortable. Hot pool (indoor) is nice (one hot & one cold pool). Kitchen was fully equipped with everything. Both living room & bedroom has a fireplace, big surprise for the bathroom facilities (great bath tub). The only thing that wasn't fully satisfied was the check in service. We arrived […] an hour earlier and asked whether we needed to come back or the suite would be available soon. The hotel staff checked and told us that it wouldn't take too long. So we decided to stay & wait. There was another couple came 5 mins right after us and they were told the same thing and decided to stay as well. But we both had waited for over 50 mins and still no news. So we asked the hotel staff how long that we had to wait as we could have spent the time somewhere else. The hotel staff went to check the suite finally and came back with bad news that the sutie wouldn't be ready on time, so they moved us to a bigger suite with nice view. It would make more sense to us that they should be able to identify the problem earlier, they said it was due to short staff and couldn't get the place cleaned on time. Anyhow, the hotel staff are overall very nice & friendly. We will still recommend this hotel to friends. Lisateave

Fantastic home away from home with 5 star facilties. Plenty of room. The full kitchen has everything required for all cooking needs. Canmore is just as attractive as Banff (20 mins away). Get a room with a view of the mountains - it;s stunning.

Great lodging for the price!

We stayed at the Solara over the Labor Day Long weekend in a 2 bedroom suite. The exterior of the building is nicely designed, well landscaped and clean. Front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The parkade is easy to access with a full size truck. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed with a full array of dishes, pots, pans, […] coffee maker, toaster, blender, washer, dryer and dishwasher. Decor is very modern and tasteful and the furniture was all comfortable and in good repair. Beds were of fantastic quality with extremely good quality linens. My only complaint here was that the pillows were a bit too mushy for my liking. Main bathroom had four shower heads in an extra wide tub with shelf. Second bathroom was a full bathroom but with a single shower head. All toilets were low flow and all fixtures were modern and in good repair. Balcony was huge, but had no furniture so we did not spend time on the deck. Furniture may have been available on request, but we didn't bother. All in all, the suite was great. Immediately comfortable and relaxing, the suite lead us to spend our first night in town in the room cooking dinner. The wading pool was out of commission during our stay, but the hot tub and spray deck were both open and kept our son entertained both evenings. There is also a play room which may be handy during colder winter months. Business center was simple, but well appointed. I notices a few things that were in need of attention, mainly a few flickering lights in the hallways and a badly stained carpet in the elevator, but otherwise things were very clean and well kept. Staff were friendly but non-intrusive. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown Canmore, but during inclement weather you'll likely want to drive. It took us about 25 minutes to walk into the center of town with a young one in tow and slowing us down a bit. Groceries, liquor stores, and all other amenities are within a few minutes drive. The shower water was very hot so maitenance took the shower apart and left the parts in the tub for our 3 day stay. The bath towels were all used so we asked for clean towels. They told us there is a washing machine in the room and we can wash the towls ourselves. Also, we requested more tea in the room, but it never arrived the entire stay.

Excellent quality at a reasonble price and still only 15 minutes away from Banff. Really top class accommodation with professional and efficient staff.

We checked in Sat. July 23rd 2011 into a two bedroom suite and when we opened the door we gasped at the beauty and elegants of our room! Everything was perfect, the deck had a great view, the beds were perfect, the furnishings and decor were awesome! We loved it and will be back often! Great value also!

The best place to stay in Canmore

My wife and I stayed at the Solara during the final stages where in construction. Given that not all the amenities were completed, the price reflected that. We received more than the value expected, and the area that the resort is in is quite quiet. It could only been improved by the soon to be spa and restuarant.

absolutely amazing best hotel yet pricing is also amazing couldn't have been happier!

We were very happy with the condition of the room as everything was new and first class. When all of the resort amenities are completed it will be beautiful. The resort is located among several similar resorts in the town of Canmore nestled in the mountains.

Very nice condo, clean and staff was friendly. Not much around as they are still under contruction. Its one of those condos that would be nice if they had a seperate hot tub per room.

Found this new resort on Hotels.com and it caught my eye because the price was so unbelievably reasonable! Didn't know when I booked that it was still under construction and this accounts for the great price. However, from start to end a very comfortable stay. The front desk clerks were very nice and very helpful. The room/suite was fabulous! Two bedrooms, […] two bathrooms, sitting area, dining area and a complete(absolutely everthing except food) kitchen, even a wine cooler. I would stay again. Lisateave
