There was no AC even though they say they do. Paris is the worst city in Europe I have visited. Nothing but scams for some crazy "charity" or magic trick. Crime is also just a way of life in France.

well located hotel at reasonable prices ... if you can get a room! It's a small hotel so it is very often fully booked. Rooms are larger than the Paris average without being particularly spatious. Good hotel for one or two nights.

My biggest complaint was that there were absolutely no drawers in this room! Having a second luggage rack would have made life easier, but we had only one and couldn't get another. Living out of my suitcase on the floor was terribly inconveneient. Breakfast was quite good and was a bargain compared to outside prices. Great location between 2 metro stations. Sights easily accessible on foot if you don't mind a bit of walking. Didn't catch the night receptionists name (started with a P) but he was an absolute star! Organised breakfast for my girlfriend as it was her birthday. The lady who brought it into our Rome even sang happy birthday which was a lovely touch! […] Bathroom was a strange split layout but I guess if you try and fit a modern hotel into an old building it is to be expected. We stayed in a standard room on an early booking rate. The room was nicely refurbished, with a good shower, good bed and all basic needs. Comfortable, not luxury. Drawback was the indoor climate, which we found a bit stuffy. Something was wrong with the toilet too, which kept running, but I think this was just bad luck and not necessarily representative […] of the general service level. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel but chose cafe's nearby where we got a better deal. The location is great on walking distance of many central attractions. A supermarket is in the neighbourhood. Unfortunatelly the toilet does not have door, at WC the water was not stopping all night. Hotels.com advertised the price saying that include breakfast but it did not and I had to contact hotel to clarify.

The location is quite central and with Metro station about 100m away. The room is very clean and bed and pillows are comfortable. There is a black out blind which is good. We stayed on the 5th floor right opposite the lift and sound proof isn't that great. We were woken up in the morning and night when anyone comes out from the lift or neighbour slamming […] their door. Overall, it is a very convenient hotel as you can walk to most places. Perfect location - right next to Metro station. Hotel clean and compfortable/ Newly refurbished room. The room was a little on the small side, but for the location in Paris, it was great. Left washbag at home - hotel gave me complimentary toothbrush, toothpaste & shaving kit - very kind. Yes, the neighbouring street has some prostitutes hanging around […] at night, but they kept to themselves. Otherwise area was safe, and again easy to get to everywhere in Paris. My stay was just one night and was overall great.. The staff aloud me to store exrta luggage as well as help me directions to nearby attractions. There was alot to see in walking distance .. And would recommend the hop off hop on bus as well

If you want a room the size of a box, with a shower and toilet in your pocket, very poor air quality - to the point that you wake up gasping for water. Putrid smell from the drains, hookers and pimps on the surrounding streets - then this is the hotel for you!!! I wouldn't go back there even if they paid me to! But enjoy :-)

This is really NOT a 4-star hotel. Usually the ratings on hotels.com are fairly accurate, but this time you guys were really off. I would say at the most 3 stars. Rooms very, very small, The reception is a tiny desk and the hallway to the elevators, that is it. The hotel front is about 50 ft wide ! 4-stars ? No way ! And the neighborhood, not nice.

This hotel is right next to the station and the staff were very helpful (looked after my suitcase all day, explained wifi very well etc) but the only let down was the surrounding area, which isn't as nice as a lot of others in Paris. On arrival we were welcomed by the strong smell of damp and as some stains in tiny lobby/corridor can only assume some plumbing issues however we got no answer from reception just a Gallic shrug. Efficient but indifferent attitude of hotel staff in narrow hotel in run down part of town with character. Although, if you asked for something they did try […] to help. Lifts tiny, with winter layers on, small case and travel bag a snug fit. Rooms are comfortable but again tiny does not quite cover it. First room, 503, we were given was immediately in front of lift and had noisiest neighbours, in 502, a room round corner of corridor!?, so we moved and were put in 505 which was better layout but still tiny but had better neighbours. Sheets are cleaned every 3 days, we stayed 2, bins not emptied at all. If you just want a basic base for kip and quick shower it is ok assuming your neighbours are mindful they are not alone with walls paper thin with good acoustics. I would rate the hotel a 3 at best. Quite a good location for 15 minute walk to Notre Dame, St Michel area, which is why I picked locale and hotel, other areas probably best reached ny Strasbourg St Denis metro nearby. Room sizes would lend themselves to couple at push. See my pics and you will get idea. It's a shame as went for honeymoon and my wife was a bit disappointed with my booking. Still the rest of Paris made up for it fortunately so got my brownie points back. Lisateave

Small room, aircondition is not efficient, bathroom & toilet inside the room, no privecy. No cupboard in the room, no minibar. No room to put suitcases. Elevator very slow. In my point of view this hotel should be less then 4 star hotel.

Les Theatres is on the edge of neighborhoods - to the one side, not recommended, to the other gradually improving. The staff was good. The room was very small and our air conditioner leaked.

The hotel is typical for Paris - small and not air conditioned. Our stay was in October and despite the temperatures being in the mid teens Celsius, the room was a little bit stuffy. We were on the top floor and slept with the windows open all night; I can only imagine how warm it can get during the summer. The room was very clean. There was a shower […] room & a separate toilet room without a sink, which was a bit odd. There are 7 floors but the lift (very small) only goes to the 6th floor. Wifi access is available (need to register with Noodo, for free) and there is a 42" LCD tv with several channels, but only two in English (BBC World News & Bloomberg). The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were fluffy & supportive. The hotel itself is located between two Metro stations, no more than a block or two away. While only about a 25 minute walk to the centre of Paris (Notre Dame), the close proximity to the Metro means all the main attractions are mere minutes away. There's a little Asian cafeteria around the corner, several cafes & a couple of supermarkets which provide a broad spectrum of eating choices. The hotel itself provides a breakfast buffet and some limited food service (not really room service - you have to go to the dining area in the lobby to pick it up). We had breakfast there one morning and it was decent - cereal, fruit, bread, croissants, yoghurt, juices, milk, coffee, tea, a variety of cheeses, sliced meats and eggs you had to boil yourself. We purchased a 3 night stay at this hotel through the secret hotel section and am glad in a way that we didnt get a choice. Whilst it was rated 4 star it was rather disappointing. I have stayed weekly in Paris for work and stayed at 4* plus hotels and this didnt cut close. While the rooms were clean (apart from if you turned up just after the room was […] serviced and you were choked from the disinfectant smell that required you to open your windows for a few hours), one of the rooms air conditioning didn't work, the second room you had to bang your door shut in order to ensure it locked. Whilst there were the few things mentioned that could improve, the location of the hotel was brilliant and the staff were friendly and always willing to help which made our stay enjoyable overall. The location is not very nice and not a place i would feel comfortable in alone at night. The lobby was shabby and our luggage was 'stored' in the bar in plane site and not tagged. Great location but avoid booking rooms on the sixth floor if you are over 6ft tall. The ceilings are very low. There are very few amenities in the hotel but many great restaurants and shopping nearby.

We stayed at the Best Western Hotel Les Theatres for a four night long-weekend. The hotel is in a good location and we could get to most places on foot. It is about 20-25 minutes walk from the Gare du Nord, a bit less to the Louvre and Notre Dame. When you need to get somewhere quickly (like the Eiffel tower on a morning!) the entrance to the Metro […] station is only about 100m away. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Our room was compact, but had a good king-size bed and was *very* quiet, meaning we slept well every night. Paris was having a mini heat-wave when we were there, with temperatures of around 38C (100F). The air conditioning didn't quite manage to keep our room as cool as we would have liked - but it certainly made a big difference and lowered the temperature to a much more pleasant level. The spiral stairs are steep - think of them as training for Notre Dame tower - but there is also a (slow) lift. The free Wi-Fi was fast at ~5MB/s! We didn't try the buffet breakfast as there were boulangerie/patisseries nearby offering great pain au chocolat for one euro! There are some supermarkets nearby too, as well as a wide choice of restaurants. A great choice if you want a no-nonsense, comfortable hotel in Paris to serve as a base for sight-seeing. Lisateave

Front desk staff was very helpful. The housekeeping staff was a little overzealous--the maid entered my room when I had a do not disturb sign on the door. The shower is separated from the sleeping area by a glass door, and you guessed it, I was showering when she started to entered. Get a two or three day pass on the "hop on hop off" tour bus--about […] thirty euro but you get to see all of the major tourist areas. Versailles is a must--about six or seven euro to get there on the metro and ten to fifteen euro to get in. I spent ten hours in the Louvre--I think that was about fifteen euro with the audio. It's a small room, with a shower and a sink basically crammed into the bedroom, but it was doable. My husband and I have stayed here twice now. On both occasions (2 years apart) the rooms have been spotlessly clean and very comfy. Modern decor is still fresh, and free WiFi throughout is handy. Breakfast buffet is high quality. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring Paris, on foot or by nearby metro. Will stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location and less than a minute's walk to the Metro, so you can get to anywhere in the city with ease. There are restaurants and shopping everywhere too. This hotel was updated a few years ago, so it has a fresher, more modern feel that what you would expect from the exterior. The room was small but that's to be expected in Europe. But everything was clean and the front desk staff were very helpful. The Strasbourg St-Denis metro stop is across the street and the hotel is close enough to the main attractions […] so that taxis aren't too expensive. Although I liked the hotel, my preference would have been to stay in the Marais or St-Germain. But since I planned my weekend trip to Paris at the last minute in the middle of the busy summer tourist season, I couldn't find anything decent in those neighborhoods in my budget. This hotel is in a somewhat transitional neighborhood--I saw street walkers on the corners of some side streets around the hotel during the day. We bumped into other couples staying at the hotel, and it was unanimous: very cramped quarters! We put our suitcase on the chair and stool, and that left not enough room to fully open the door to the room. No closet at all, just a short pipe and a few hangers open to the room.
