A Little Gem close to everything only complaint is surrounding neighbourhood

Quality of service was below par. After our first night, we were shorted on towels. A request was answered with the delivery of three bath mats. We made another request for towels, but none were ever delivered.

We stayed 2 nights at the Auckland City Hotel. It's in a decent location, but it's not really a nice hotel. I figured it wouldn't be the Ritz Carlton based on the price, but it's extremely no-frills and plain. Our room overlooked an interior rooftop (maybe the rooftop of the reception area...just think lots of air conditioning units and metal pipes). […] The room had poor lighting. There was no bathroom counter space (no shelves, no place to put anything). It should probably be renamed the Auckland City Ho(s)tel. Lisateave

On the special rate we got value for money. We had a few minor issues with items missing from the room but the staff did rectify this quickly. Attention to detail was a bit lacking with the shower not properly clean, Walls near handbasin splattered and some carpet lifting in the room, At four stars this hotel is over rated but would be a fair 3 star […] hotel, We did enjoy our stay. I stayed in an apartment equipped with a full kitchen. There was also a dish washer in the room and they did expect me to clean up the used dishes myself as the cleaner only cleaned up the rest of the room except the used dishes! Despite it is a service apartment they don't provide in-room washing machine. You have to use the public / common laundry […] on another floor of the hotel at a charge. Hotel location is good. It's just a 5mins walk to Queen's Street and Countdown supermarket, and a 15mins walk to the harbour. They provide 30-min free in-room internet connection. Lisateave

Staff were really friendly and helpful here, the room was nice with comfortable beds and quiet at night time, which was a good change form another hotel i stayed at in Auckland.

although the hotel was downtown and within walking distance to the skytower and the waterfront, it was not in the greatest area...the room just ok..., there was alot of street noise, the walls had dirty fingerprints on them, and the corners of the carpet were dusty...the windows and sills hadn't been cleaned...the bathroom, however, was clean and modern...the […] front desk were friendly, and the restaurant in the hotel had decent food... We Arrived at 2:15pm (check in time at 2pm) and unfortunately our room hadn't yet been serviced. This was resolved quickly however by giving us a different room. The alternative room was a disabled room and very spacious though the bathroom was a little unsuited to the able person due to everything being lower. It was a clean and spacious room. I was fortunate to get a last minute deal for a one night stay. The room was fantastic - very spacious and an enormous bathroom. I would stay again on next visit to Auckland.

A well located hotel for all major attractions in Auckland. My room was very spacious and well equipped. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about local area. My only negative point is that the wiFi did not work in my room.

My wife and I spent one night and were very happy with the whole experience and value for money. Neighbourhood a bit mixed but not a problem, 15 mins to harbour area.

The hotel staff was cooperative and rendered all help to visit the tourist attractions.Rooms were airy and clean.Being very close to CBD shopping was easy Choise of food outlets around the hotel

Very convenient location, just a short walking distance from the sky tower. I took Air bus from airport & alight at queen street ( 2 nd stop ) and a short walk less than 5 minutes walk reach this hotel. friendly reception , I had reached around 1100 am & request for early check in, & I got it. My room was at 6 th floor, very good view. Room Very clean, […] bed comfortable. There is Malaysian restaurant with good food ( slightly expensive ) i had stayed 3 nights . An ideal location, close to Sky City Casino. Hotel staff very courteous and extremely helpful. The restaurant was inside the hotel and also provided room service. The best place to stay when visiting Auckland..

Didn't go well at first until we had another room changed by the duty manager. She understands our need and solved our problem immediately. We had a great 6 days stay at Auckland.

The Auckland City Hotel in Auckland is a little small, but clean, comfortable and near the city center and many of the must-see sights.

Great value for money except for the expensive broadband and $25 car park charges.

From the tarrif, it should be obvious that this is a budget hotel. However, it is extremely clean and comfortable property and much quieter than some other hotels where I have stayed previously in Auckland. Whilst there is some noise from Cook Street early in the evening, this dissipates by bedtime and I had a couple of good nights’ sleep. You can […] also arrange for hotel transport to and from the airport for a little less than the cost of a taxi. Excellent location, easy to move around. Clean and conducive hotel ambience. Polite staff.

We stayed for three nights and it did have some positives and negatives. Room was cleaned satisfactorily. Our particular room's window was not tight in the sill and so when there was a rain storm, the window rattled a little. Other negatives were costliness of internet access and the fact that when my wife sprained her ankle and I asked for ice, the […] person at the front desk gave me a blank stare and said they might have some in the restaurant. Beautiful, renovated property. Centrally located. Clean, modern and comfortable accommodations. Helpful, friendly and courteous staff. Excellent restaurant on premises.

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room was very cold despite using a small heater supplied by the hotel. There was also no spare blankets or pillows in the room. The area is a student area so plenty of convenience stores if required. I had a meal in the restaurant and the food was good and reasonabley priced- […] unfortunately again the restaurant was very cold. It is a pity that there are not any other restaurant close by. The hotel is near Intercity bus station. Staff are friendly. Only complain is the pillows are too soft.

Clean hotel. Good Service. Location is not great. Neighborhood looks a little on the rough side. For one night it was fine. Would look for something else if staying longer..

We are arrived very early in the morning and were prepared to simply drop off our luggage and return later that day to check in. The very friendly and helpful staff allowed us to check in right away and we were able to get settled and rest a bit before going out to sight-see on our first day in New Zealand. During our week Auckland experienced the coldest […] temperatures in 72 years and even momentary snow! The hotel staff brought extra heaters into our room and ensured that we were warm and comfortable throughout our stay. Lisateave

while clean and friendly the hotel is across the street from the City Mission, the beds are the smallest I've seen since college and the pillows are a joke, internet doesn't work well and costs a fortune

this apartment hotel was good value for money. it is located up from the main shopping area, by sky tower but unfortunately the road itself is a bit dodgy and wouldnt recommend walking down it at night. the staff were friendly and helpful with directions. internet is available at a charge but cannot be accessed in the bedrooms so you have to go in the […] lobby. the price during the week is competative and all in all a pleasant stay Lisateave

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and found the room uncomfortably cold. This would explain the TWO oil fin heaters in the room which I had to leave on the entire time to be comfortable. I was visiting from a cooler climate than Auckland and didn't feel cold in general so was surprised that the room was so chilly. In other ways the room was fine. […] As I was on the first floor and close to street noise I was glad I'd brought my earplugs as it did get noisy on the Saturday night of my stay. Lisateave

Very good value for $. Had to leave early Saturday morning but would have liked to try breakfast. Good clean room/linen etc. Quiet, cosy. Would stay again.

Staff are not friendly. Can not speak Enghlish welll. Very poor and staff need to be trained . Cleaning was just ok. A lot of rubbish under beds, hair was everywhere in bathroom. Wont come back

We really enjoyed our stay at the Auckland City Hotel the room was immaculate and very comfy. It is very close to all central Auckland tourist attractions and only a cheap taxi fair to the Vector Arena. The staff are amazing very friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again thanks so much.

Easy access from Motorway with covered parking. Good central position..only a block away from Sky Tower and inner city transport. Welcoming room and very comfortable bed. From front desk to housekeepers all staff excellent Dining room decor disappointing but food and staff very good.

3 star is pushing it! Reasons: 1. Smell of stir fry cooking in the lobby / reception, no matter what time of day or night. 2. Room - 2 lights not working, broken handle on the window, dirty net curtain, mould [or dirt?] under door to shower. At least the bed was comfortable. 3. Breakfast - accompanied by the stir fry smell - tea and coffee just about […] lukewarm, staff uninterested, fruit salad almost non existent and tasteless, just 4 'cakes' on a plate on the buffet, a few slices of bread for us to toast.
