The second bed was rather disappointing, but the room , 623, had two balconies, views of pool n mosque.The hotel delivered everything I like about a place.What was irritating was all the aroma bottles about the corridors. This hotel lived up to its 5 star rating. In particular the staff were plentiful and well trained. They were always on hand to deal with any problem and more than willing to stop and pass the time of day. I was very impressed. My only concern was the position of the hotel. The hotel and staff were wonderful. The food at the Hoi An was superb and the atmosphere for a romantic dinner at Pearls and Cavier was lovely. My only regret was doing the Dune Bashing Safari which the Hotel recommended which terrified me and I didn't enjoy.

Fantastic experience, beautiful hotel with superb staff, can't fault it. Only things to be aware of is the restaurant prices can add up if you are not careful, and being about 25 mins out of AD main drag means you have to plan your days otherwise you are spending a fair bit of tine in taxis. Wonderful stay at a very nice hotel. The beach isn't the nicest, but the rest of the hotel and rooms are great. Views across the water of the Mosque are spectacular. Additionally, the pool can get crowded with kids as the rooftop one is only for adults.

I must say that I was very impressed with the overall stay, as soon as I made booking I had a phone call from hotel welcoming me and to discuss check in process and things I needed for my stay. At arrival we had a very warm greeting were very well looked after. My partner and I transited through Abu Dhabi on our way back to Australia from Europe. Our hotel of choice was the Shangri-La. Upon arriving, we took a taxi to the hotel (approx 30 AED and 20 mins). The hotel room was the standard deluxe room with a beautiful view overlooking the private beach, pool and the Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque. We dined at the […] hotels chinese restaurant. The food had great flavour and the service was excellent. We also had the buffet breakfast and dinner which was fantastic and range of food even better. During our stay we also travelled into the city via taxi which was approx 35 AED. The concierge also made arrangements for us to visit the Falcon Hospital for a tour (one of a kind experience!). In addition, we took the hotel shuttle bus to Ferrari World and were picked up four hours later, which was a perfect amount of time for us to explore Ferrari World (non-peak season). During our 2 days of touring Abu Dhabi we also visited many souks and malls - perfect for the shopperholic!! We also had some downtime at the health club where there was an outdoor pool, and private gym, sauna and jacuzzi for males & females - far from your ordinary gym experience. Last but not least, we took some time out to have a massage at the Shangri-La's Chi Spa. The staff were great and massages even better. With there flexible trading hours (until 12 am) we were able to sneak a massage in before we departed the following morning. All in all - our experience at the Shangri-La was the perfect place for us to stop before returning home. The Shangri-La group is now our first preference for future accommodation requirements. The hotel is superb but the location does have some disadvantages. It is on the flight path for military aircraft which can result in some very low flying cargo planes. It also suffers from some road noise from the bridge near by and currently there is construction noise from the other side of the creek.

This is a hotel that gets customer service right on every count. Consistently helpful and professional service with a smile - they even supplied bottled water in a small cooler on the beach, the dates at the entrance were irresistible. The infinity pool is beautiful, the view of the grand mosque across the water is amazing day and night.

This is a lovely hotel, modern, fresh and clean as you would expect, plus a reasonable range of facilities, shops and restaurants next door. Just a few minor details stop it from being full 5* review in my view. Location is good for the airport and exhibition centre, but a bit of a trek into town although thereb is a courtesy bus. Don't get the hotel […] car to collect you from the airport as it is 10 times the cab fare and there are plenty of good cabs. Great spa and gym; nice pools - all 4ft deep so safe for less able swimmers and wonderfully clean water - and lovely beach with sea swimming area. No watersports though. A wide range of restaurants in the hotel and at the adjacent mall just a few minutes stroll away (or via free boat ride). Staff were generally very attentive although patchy around the pool. Others have mentioned the free wifi niggle that requires you to 'agree' every time you switch on; and the occasional military plane overhead. Generally lovely stay, slightly pricey, nice spot, great for the exhibition hall or Mussafah but not for town. Lisateave

Allt fungerar friktionsfritt på detta hotell, från välkomnandet vid incheckningen och framåt under hela vistelsen. Smakfull inredning, högklassig mat och enastående service som vanligt på Shangri-la. Ingenting som gästen önskar verkar vara omöjligt. Den enda lilla svagheten är möjligen läget en bit från centrum, men man tar alltid taxi i Abu Dhabi ändå […] så det är inte ett stort minus. Välj gärna Horizon Club rum då det faktiskt ingår en hel del fördelar. Utsikten är strålande och stränderna är bättre än vad som framkommit i recensioner tidigare. De andra strandhotellen i Abu Dhabi har liknande lägen där "havet" är en kanal eller ett sund mellan öar. Bufférestaurangen Sofra är den klart bästa buffén vi ätit med ett enormt utbud och allt enastående gott. Även de andra restaurangerna är bra. Priserna är dock höga; som på bättre restauranger i storstad. Vi hörde många som hade bott på andra hotell men fastnat för Shangri-la. Abu Dhabis bästa SPA finns också på hotellet. Lisateave
