Stayed here on Thursday June 6 with my children 5/7 as an indulgent getaway. The room was nice but not at par with the cost especially when my kids discovered the duvet cover was soiled! I'd advised the front desk uponwhich they'd apologized and had the cover replaced while we were out. A complimentary treat would have undone the oversight and reinforced […] the luxury treatment though wasn't thought of (which was disappointing). Regret to say I won't be staying here again. Very nice hotel in extremely unique structure. It was the former commonwealth prison and they've got a lot of prison themed accents.

Great stop-over. Restaurant wasn't amazing but got the job done - not too much around the hotel. But the hotel itself is worth going out of the way to stay.

good location, really nice place. Loved the history (an old jail) and beautiful lobby- one of the nicer ones I've seen. The only shortcoming was the views in our room were of the hospital next door. But room was very large, comfortable, and quiet. (no ambulance noise noted). Right on the T stop, easy to get to everything. Parking was very pricy - so […] we didn't bring a car but took commuter rail and T. Restuarant food was good, aptmosphere was cool (in old jail sections) but would be nice if they had better views of the river or the city. Breakfast was great at "clink" but pretty pricey, lots of good breakfast places in the neighborhood if you want to save some money there. Lisateave

We showed up on a rainy afternoon and we were greeted at our car with an umbrella, which spoke volumes of the hotel already. When you walk into the lobby, you will see the incredible architecture of what used to be the Suffolk County jail. We were greeted by Zach and he checked us in, gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and took time to show […] us a map of Boston and some must-see spots in the city. We then made our way to our room which was clean and welcoming and had an amazing view of the city!! It rained that entire day and after a few hours of walking around, we decided to go back to the hotel...and good thing we did!! The hotel was filled with young people enjoying the various restaurants and/or bars/lounge in the hotel. We loved the scene and loved that we didn't have to go farther than the lobby to have a nice evening. We only stayed at the Liberty for two nights, but really could've stayed longer! We enjoyed our stay so much, we've already discussed visiting Boston again...and of course, no other hotel will do! Lisateave

It was ok. We had to move rooms as the first room we were given had an electrical problem where the tv and phone kept turning off and on every few minutes. They told us they were upgrading us due to the inconvenience but the new room was exactly the same just on a lower floor. This room wasn't very clean. The carpet had a huge stain on it by the desk […] (Room 709) and the bathroom walls had something smeared on them (make-up? self-tanner) along with mold in the shower. Overall it was fine but I expect more from a Starwood Luxury property. Lisateave

it was ok. the room wasnt quite what was expected but if u think basic sheraton hotel, u wont be unhappy. if u think 5 star, u will be disappointed, as we somewhat were but we also knew that we were only there to sleep. we would def stay again, altho next time we will book a "cell" room...(old jail cell which are posh rooms!)

We live outside of Boston...This is a great spot to spend a night in town, the location of the T right outside the door allows you to get over to Cambridge and back or anywhere in the city quickly. Such a cool Hotel!!!!

The Liberty is right next to the Charles St. MTA station, so you can easily use it to get anywhere. Boston is really very small, though, so you could also just walk to much of it from this location. Having Beacon Hill right next door was especially nice. Most of the rooms are in a modern tower attached to the old prison building with only 25% of rooms […] at most having an interesting view. Beds were soft, A/C was loud and we would have liked a microwave oven, but it was clean,slick, and otherwise quiet. Mostly, what a great location!! Lisateave

Totally gorgeous hotel although it was a bit difficult to find as we were driving around Boston for the first time on a rainy evening in a rental car. Apart from that detail (which is no fault of the hotel), everything was exceptional. A glass of champagne on check-in was very welcome, as was the upgrade. We were a bit late to dine in the restaurant […] but sitting at the bar for a late night meal gave us the opportunity to chat with other guests, the friendly bartender and to soak up the incredible space. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a luxury experience with wonderful service. Lisateave

The Liberty Hotel was a great place to stay in a convenient Boston location. The hotel staff were great without exception. The only thing to note is that when the hotel lobby turns into a bar it can get quite loud in the "jail rooms". If you don't appreciate thundering music until 1 or 2 AM you may wish to get a room further back. Tried both Scampi […] and Clink restaurants in the hotel and found Scampi to be much better both in terms of service and food quality. However if you want a place to have a quiet meal or drink, you should probably venture to one of the many local restaurants. This place is busy most of the time. Lisateave

My stay at the Liberty Hotel was excellent! On friday and Saturday nights the lobby becomes a "club", which was more of a social hall to me. Do not worry though because on the first floor they have Alibi which is a Club! The lobby only has one bar and it is very small!, but residents have access to the 3rd floor which is the Catwalk where you can get […] your drinks much faster. a very nice convienence. Upon arrivial they do offer you a complimentary glass of champange, and it is a pretty good select too. Hopefully you can get a room with a view, where my room faced the hospital. also, if you stay in a room on the catwalk, while the rooms are bigger, again on friday and saturday night it can be noisy until 2 am. also outside of my room was the temp bar for the catwalk and was a bit noisy due to staff working/making drinks. The front desk service was amazing, helped me get all of my questions answered. Room service was excellent and the food, while overpriced, very delicious! I recommend the Pizza off the late night menu. Scampi was very delicious as well, I dined there twice during my stay! bar staff was very friendly. Hotel is literally across the street from the "T" or subway system redline which is very convinent. you are walking distance to boston public gardens, there is also a starbucks on the way right on charles street. there is also a 24 hour CVS across the street as well. All aspects of the experience from Champagne greeting to fine dining and comfortable room as well as the wonderfully restored historical landmark rate contributed positively to a very memorable event.

Great hotel, accomodating staff. Only complaint is that the room was so hot we couldn't sleep. Thermostat at lowest setting but still room at 82 degrees. Front desk apologized.

This hotel is great. I they had pool and larger gym then it would be perfect. But, even without it is a vey unusual piece of architecture that was transformed into a beautiful hotel lobby and clean spacious rooms. Personnel are friendly and helpful, good location to Boston and MIT. Thumbs up!

We stayed at the Liberty for a quick 2-day visit to Boston and thought this hotel was fantastic. Be sure to watch the history of the conversion from Jail to luxury hotel on the TV in your room! Our main mode of transportation was the subway and this location was perfect - right across the street from a RED line stop. I can't believe this hotel was less expensive than other options near-by. It's a showstopper. I had a great time staying here and it really seemed to be a hot spot in the area. Excellent service. Could not have been more perfect. Absolutely gorgeous and super cool hotel. Location is fabulous - not right in the heart of the action, but close to the beautiful Charles River and an easy walk to everywhere.
