The actual room was good and bad. The bed and linens: very comfortable. The room itself was gloomy and smelled, so I didn't want to be in it. The bathroom shower head was odd, and I flooded the bathroom. I was told "that always happens". Please change the shower heads. That might be why the room smelled like mildew. I noticed online that the hotel décor suggested that it was more "modern" in design, which is fine. What I didn't expect was the apparent assumption that "modern" should mean overly "minimalist". The second I walked into the room, I knew this was a bad move. Room size was small, but more disappointing was the bare décor. Walls have some type of sporadic […] gray/black streaking over the white paint. Design feature gone wrong. Just made the walls look dirty. Absolutely NO COLOR anywhere in the room. LITERALLY! No art...no nothing. Felt like I was in a black and white movie. Considering my window looked out onto a back alley between the hotel and the building next to it, I found the whole effect to be very drab. And don't get me started on the shower in this place! UGH!!! This is HANDS-DOWN my biggest gripe. They have this "uber-modern" shower fixture that looks like a microphone in a stand, which they've mounted to the side instead of the center of the shower, for some reason. With the nozzle in the mount, the water is shooting over your head to the side wall instead of down on you...like a shower should! The only adjustments allowed by the fixture (sliding the nozzle up or down on the wall-mounted pole) don't cut it because of the design of the water holes in the nozzle. You have to hold the showerhead in hand to actually rinse off. This was a NO-GO! As someone who enjoys my shower as time to wash off the day and relax, I DON'T WANT TO WORK HARD TO BATHE! Nice place, great for the business traveler. Rooms are small, but very comfortable. Ideal place if you're going to Staples Center too. Huge plus was the free access to the Golds Gym a block away.

This hotel was worth the price. Clean and very well maintained. It was easy to get a cab. Parking next door was 12 for 24hrs. Be warned though, everything closes early in this area. I would stay here again for sure.

I travel widely, and have slept in odd places from Amsterdam to Mexico. This place was universally disappointing. For the money, the room was tiny and cramped. The bathroom smelled of mildew. In mock Euro styling, the bath facilities were just bizzare. Parking was in an adjoining public garage with sketchy homeless folks outside. And while the night […] clerk bragged about the "free" amenities (like the two bottles of room temperature tap water in fridge) we were hit with a $14 amenities charge on the way out. Our stay at the O was terrific. The lobby staff was courteous and efficient. Our room was ready early so we didn't have to wait to check-in. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom fixtures were modern and fun. The lobby bar was beautiful and service was good. The only slight negative was the disinfectant smell... Hotel charges $14 for amenity, $12 parking every time you enter and leave parking lot. They have a $20 pass that lets you enter and leave as much as you like but I was never inform of that until we were leaving!! AC made a lot of noises. The room was terribly small and not really all that nice, and the bathroom door was one of those sliding ones that doesn't give you the privacy you may like. We were woken up by banging garbage trucks at 6am on a Saturday. Fantastic hotel. My only complaint is about the shower heads. They are not fixed to the wall and the water pressure causes them to shoot everywhere except you. It's a removable hand held shower head with a cable and I had to rig up the cable in a way to point the water down. I also had to leave a note for housekeeping not to touch the shower head. Which […] they respected. I stay in this hotel 4x's a year for work and this is now the 2nd trip of the year I've had to deal with this. It's awful and enough to make me find a new place to stay. The hotel is a block from my office, so that was why I stayed. I used to eat at the restaurant when I lived in LA. The room was tiny and the window faced a block wall. The adjustable shower head would not stay in the up position so I had to hold it with one hand and shower with the other. Lobby is beautiful, making you feel like you are checking into a 4 star boutique hotel & check in process was quick however walls are paper thin, corridor needs to be cleaned up and rooms need to get some attention or a make over. Cheaply put together, bed is not comfortable and above head air conditioner is noisy, reminded me of a hotel 6 room with […] white linenes and shiny polyester curtains. The parking is fabulous, $12 for 24 hours literally ten steps from the O Hotel.We were there for a hockey game at Staples and it was a ten minute walk. We also felt safe walking back to our room at the end of the night. We had no problems checking in. The elevator is just a little creepy, but completely functional nonetheless. We had a queen sized bed […] and a perfect sized room for two people staying just a quick night. Our view out the window was a brick wall, but we were only in the room to sleep so it wasn't a problem. The shower head is a little too contemporary, you could either hold it in your hand or hope it sticks in one spot so you aren't spraying the ceiling! Other than the shower, everything else in the room was great. We had a brand new tv in our room that hadn't been programmed yet, and Christopher at the front desk was knocking at our door to help us before we even hung up the phone. I paid about $200 after taxes for our queen sized room. Even though the room was clean and comfortable, I honestly wouldn't pay more than $100-150 at the most. Its probably location that bumps the price up so much, but it really was nice to be able to walk back after the game. Lisateave

We attended the Sweet Sixteen at the Staples Center. The hotel was within walking distance of the arena, about three blocks. The neighborhood was safe with eating and shopping nearby. The rooms were modern, clean and quiet. Parking garage is right next door with a rate of $12 per day. Would definitely stay there again.

It has a modern decor which we liked, a good atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, good beds, clean rooms, and not all the stuff you really do not need if one only uses hotels to sleep in. The continental breakfast was as usual, but some yoghurt would have been nice. The area was pleasant, near Staples […] Center and the Convention Center, many restaurants, a nearby supermarket with good food, parking at reasonable rates within walking distance. Recommended. O Hotel is a great hotel in a great location. Their restaurant/bar; conveniently called Bar Kitchen serves wonderful food and drinks. The hotel itself is unique and non-commercialized. Rooms are comfortable and have various amenities. Overall; a great choice!

You will pay more then just the amount through hotels.com. They call it a service fee but every other time I have booked on here I never get an additional service fee upon arrival. Cheap attempt to get a few extra bucks in my opinion.

I was in LA for business @ Dodger Stadium - the location was great. Loved the restaurant - in fact, I ate there 2 of my 3 nights! Had a great massage from Johnny at the spa. One suggestion - don't get a room by the elevator - I heard every single person go by.

The hotel was chic & modern, and we were able to check in early (around 11 am). Lighting was dim in the elevator & hallways, but it might be the hotel "theme' - I guess it gave off a chic, romantic, lounge-y vibe to the hotel. Our room was clean and smelled nice when we first entered. Not very big, but had everything we needed, so we were satisfied. […] Modern decor and nice lighting. Perfect for romance, or if you like being able to control lighting in your room. Quick room service, although the ladies didn't quite understand our request for a second bathrobe. Booked the hotel mainly because of it's location to Staples Centre. We watched a concert, and were able to walk the 2.5 blocks safely. Although we enjoyed our stay very much, we would choose an alternate hotel if the price was right. We would pay the parking fees surrounding Staples, and stay somewhere outside of the downtown area.The neighborhood was clean, but seemed a bit sketchy as we walked back from Staples to the hotel. Hotel was a disaster -- sort of like a prison. View from my room was a cinder block wall -- 6 feet away. No light in the room. A spa with no service -- and the staff had no idea when/if they would open. Breakfast was less than adequate -- no fruit, no yogurt -- although I was charged a daily fee for the privileged. DON'T stay at the O Hotel.

Really great location downtown and nice hotel for the price. It's pleasantly renovated in a modern, if metal and concrete style. My room was very comfortable and included a mini fridge, perfect for stashing a few beers. Internet access via wifi free plentiful and free. The room was well-appointed and the bathroom had nice shower accessories. The shower […] was bit awkward to operate but at least it was large - I could have easily fit 3 people in there. There's a $14/day service fee, as some hotels like to charge now. They mentioned this up front, but it's still a bit annoying. It covers bottled water, Gold's gym access around the corner, continental breakfast and various other "amenities", but the fact that this fee is not included in the price you've already paid makes it dubious. Breakfast was bagels, pastries, juice, coffee, and tea. As some other reviews have mentioned, if you don't get a city view room, you basically have no window. Your window opens just to a concrete wall with a few feet space. I didn't have a problem with this, as I rarely open hotel windows anyway. Lisateave
