great view, spectacular beach nearby! Beautiful bar, restaurant, flora & fauna in a nature reserve, friendly and helpful staff, quiet surroundings, availability of night life in nearby towns. We have been to Bahia Salinas before, loved it this trip and will return with friends and family in the future.

Stayed over the New Year to rest and did just that! Grounds and hotel amenities help you relax. Nearby Playa Sucia was beautiful! Local Dining establishments offer PR staples- don't be afraid to try! The staff at Bahia Salinas were outstanding. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The hotel has an "old carribean" charm, not glitzy like larger and newer resorts, which is a plus for me. Wow, the sunsets!! The location couldn't be more beautiful and the grounds are very well maintained. Lots of comfortable seating areas scattered around the grounds. […] Infinity edge pool sits within a few yards of the ocean and the cabanas are great. The restaurant also sits right on the water so it was also a nice place to hang out. I would not recommend purchasing the food plan as it is more limited than the regular menu. Food was okay, not great. We were in a second floor deluxe room overlooking the pool and ocean. The room was adequate but curiously absent were night tables on either side of the bed. Also no venting fan in bathroom, nor hairdryer (which is really no big deal). Overall, I would recommend Bahia Salinas and would go back there again. Lisateave

Very nice well-maintained property with a good on-site restaurant. Also a very short drive or walk from Playa Sucia and the Cabo Rojo lighthouse which are not to be missed. Lots of nice lounge areas around the pool and bar areas as well. On-site parking. Also about a 35 minute drive to Parguera and bio-bay tours.

My husband, 2 kids (6 and 13) and I traveled to Bahia Salinas for 3 nights the week of July 4. We would definitely go back again. The positives: * The location is beautiful. The salt flats nearby are gorgeous, with lots of bird life. Make sure you do a short hike at the salt flats visitors center. * Great place for relaxing. We let the kids play in […] the pool while adults just watched the changing colors in the bay. * Restaurant: We ate delicious dinners overlooking the bay and watching the sun set. * Rooms: Rooms are very spacious and clean. * Bahia Sucia. The beach in the nearby wildlife refuge is stunning! You have to go early to be able to park nearby, otherwise there is a ~2 mi. walk. We went on the 4th of July when it was super crowded. A few days later we had the place to ourselves, so avoid major holidays. The downsides: *Breakfast: Overpriced for buffet food that wasn't always fresh. * Service: Well intentioned, but uneven. Front desk asked us to wear wristbands to identify us - ridiculous for a hotel this size. (We took them off.) Getting handed a list of policies was impersonal and a bad start. Front desk staff was not helpful when we looked for excursions. Wait staff was hit or miss. * Remote: There are no other restaurants nearby. Dinner was good, so we didn't mind eating on property . We did find some bakeries up the road for breakfast and for light lunches that we took to the beach. Lisateave

All we wanted was a remote and peaceful spot to sleep/read/eat/swim/walk/sleep/read/eat/swim/walk/etc. All of this we did in great comfort and ease with unpretentious but elegant surroundings and a gracious staff. The restaurant and bar service are a little slow but the ambiance on the edge of the water in the mangle is lovely and the food is worth […] waiting for... deeelish. Also, 10 minutes away is Playa Sucia, a celestial bathing beach of white sand and crystal waters and a walk up to the light house on the edge of huge high cliffs for a sunset that has probably been mezmerizing people for thousands of years. We stayed here two nights for a relaxing end to our trip. It's definitely a beautiful location with amazing views but it's also definitely NOT a high end hotel. The rooms were clean and functional but reminded me of dorm rooms or summer camp. A bed, a TV, a bathroom...a little stark and no lush furnishings or a lot of creativity. The air conditioner […] worked but was really loud, so then the TV would be loud, so then we couldn't hear anything...it was distracting. And the big whammie was on our last day (before a long day of travel), we didn't have any hot water. We called the front desk and they sent in a maid who was talking to the maintenance man on a cell phone to figure it out. She tells me there going to put in "a bomb" to see if that works. It didn't. So I skipped the shower and my husband took a quick and chilly one. When we checked out we told them again about the situation and they simply said, "I'm sorry." Not exactly what I had in mind. The staff was friendly overall but again, didn't give that extra level of service you might expect from even an average hotel today. We ate at the restaurant one night, and although it was a bit expensive, it was good. There were stray dogs hanging around that would come sit by your feet waiting for food so if that bothers you, don't eat at the restaurant because the hotel allows it. I'd recommend this hotel because it is a very relaxing and rural location and is close to what I've been told by several locals is the most beautiful beach on the entire island. Just remember that it's a very middle ground hotel that's secluded enough to relax outside, but not as much inside. Lisateave

Needs Updating, remodeling, not worth money, restaurant tooooo expensive. Bathrooms are to tiny and uncomfortable, really cheap fixtures and shower curtain, tiny sink and yuky. The restaurant is way too expensive for hotel. Will never think of going back.

My really only complaint was that the pool was only opened from 10am to 7 pm. It should be from 9am to 9pm. As I am an early riser it would be nice and als after dinner it would be nice to take a dip in the pool after a long day. Most of the food was good. The breakfast buffet is awfully high. $13.95? This hotel has two pools, is ocean front, is very romantic for couples. It's ideal for those that love the beach, nature and a good night's rest. It is very peaceful at night and a comfortable atmosphere during the day. The restaurant is a little over-priced.

The resort is in the middle of the Cabo Rojo Wildlife Reserve meaning it is at least 20 min. from the center of town and the road right in front is filled with huge pot holes. Check-in was very convienent and quick. They hand you the remote to the TV along with your keys, we also shared a community iron which we had to check out. The resort had a lot […] of character, was gorgeous and very tropical! The view from the main pool is impressive. There was also a kiddie pool which came in handy for my two year old. Being that the resort backed into a mangrove, there was a smell in the air that you get used to after a while. During the week there is only one person acting as bar tender and waiter to the entire restaurant and it took about 30 min. for me to get some shrimp cocktail and a hotdog. There are several cats that roam the tables for scraps. Although we had a private hammock, compared to the beauty of the resort, the rooms were very plain and lacked character. The TV only had about 10 channels, but the beds were comfortable and this was the first place I have stayed where the A/C actually worked well. Near by there is the Cabo Rojo light house with a spectacular view and Playa Sucia (a secret beach) that is worth visiting. All in all I would return to Bahia Salinas. Lisateave

Now for the good stuff- it is a lovely isolated location and since we were off season if felt like we had the place to ourselves. Loved that. Nice Parador in a quiet, out-of-the-way part of Puerto Rico. The restaurant and bar close too early. There is no after hours room service either. The nearest late night dinning facility is a 24/7 cafeteria style restaurant located in the Cabo Rojo plaza, 45 minutes to one hour away.

After a long trip on very windy roads through a somewhat underdeveloped region of S.W. Puerto Rico, the Bahia Salinas, located at the S.W. tip of the island is like an oasis. The hotel had great views and surroundings but unless you know the area or have transportation it is kind of far from other attraction. So unless your satisfied with just hanging out at your hotel all day then this is a wonderful place to be it had a great pool, bar, and restuarant. First the road to the hotel was a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. The bar was nice and friendly. We had to wait there for our room to be ready. The room was not what was pictured on the web site and was very small. The air conditioner was noisy and when we asked to get it fixed it took another day for maintence to fix it. The beach was very small […] and when we tried to get in we sank in the sand there was so much salt. I did not see one person swimming there. One day we pulled into the parking lot and a woman was standing out side and told use to park our car with the front facing out and it was in the rules.....I looked and it was not in the rules of the hote. I felt very uncomfortable staying at this hotel. It took us forever to get anywhere and the road was full of potholes. We actually drove past the hotel 2 times before we stopped someone in the parking lot and asked where it was. The electricity went off 2 times during our stay also. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Keep your money and go somewhere else. Lisateave

Nach dem CheckIn erhielten wir ein katastrophales Zimmer ohne Fenster. Es war sehr klein und für den bezahlen Preis wirklich eine Frechheit. Wir haben uns dann beschwert. Die Dame an der Rezeption hat sehr professionell reagiert, und uns für den nächsten Tag ein kostenloses Frühstück und ein wesentlich größeres Zimmer angeboten, welches dann in Ordnung […] war.
