The Westin Arlington Gateway - Arlington

Perfect choice for a weekend in DC. Just a few steps to the Metro. The valet parking attendant was so helpful when we suspected we had car trouble. Spotless room with cushy linens. Lots of towels and a great shower! Who could ask for more?

Great hotel. Weekend rates were very cheap for quality of hotel. Great location. Tons of places to eat within walking distance. Short walk to Metro stop. Quick trip on Metro to downtown DC. Only issue - rules in pool area states no one under 16 allowed in hot tub, but this rule seems not to be followed or enforced consistently. Saw other kids in hot […] tub (with and without parents). As a result, I let me 9 year old son sit in the hot tub with me. Lifeguard came over instantly and kicked him out. Fine. But then as we were swimming in pool, some parents were sitiing in the hottub with their 4 year old child. Not sure how the life guard decides who can stay or not, but it sure didnt seem fair. I have been going to the hotel for years. We do love it for the location and nice rooms, however, no working refrigerators in the room.

This is the fourth time we've stayed here...we love the location and the hotel staff was terrific. The rooms were clean and spacious. There is nothing we didn't like about this hotel.

Overall happy with the room. Clean comfortable quiet and roomy. Ideal for the business traveller. Has a coffee spot in the lobby. Valet price is way to expensive, considering that the cost is 1/5 the price of the rack rate. If they could reconsider that, would make the overall rating better.

Convenient to Metro. Room was nice. Hotel was pet friendly but not many places for our dog to do its business outside. Nice pool and fitness room.

We stayed over the weekend, and they accomadated me in not having a credit card after I had called 2 days prior to make sure my debit card would work. Close to the mall, where you can park for $2 over the weekend instead of them trying to say you have to valet for $23 a day! All in all hotel was nice but I would have rather stayed closer to D.C.

Rooms were in disrepair and dusty. Also the minibars were locked although they had a menu attached to them advertising the prices. When I called the front desk, they told me that they had discontinued the minibar, but left the placards advertising the contents. Breakfast buffet was shockingly low quality for a Westin. Asked for a quiet room........instead got a room with an a/c unit that made a racket all night long. Nice hotel, great location, but did not comply with my very specific request. I've stayed in the Westin in alexandria, and had an amazing experience, so didn't hesitate to book a room at the Arlington location. The staff however was rude, our entire floor smelled like sewage, they charged ten bucks a day for wifi, something I can get free nearly everywhere, and charging 23 bucks a day for valet when I literally walked to my own […] car and drove it out of the lock was a ridiculous concept to me. I recommend staying at the Alexandria location, it's convenient to metros as well, and offers much better service. Lisateave

We booked our one-night stay through Hotels.com and they gave us the wrong room upon arrival. After one phone call, we were taken to the correct room with apologies, free breakfast coupons, movie rental and popcorn. We love the location and all of the amenities. The pool is just right for kids with a convenient shower area and toiletries down the hall. […] It is a short 3-4 block walk to the Ballston Metro Station and across the street from the Ballston Common Mall. I was not expecting much more than a standard hotel experience. However I was pleasantly suprised with the friendliest and helpfulness that I found. The hotel is well run, and the staff is great. It is convenient for shopping and dining.

The room was great, everything was clean and neat, the bed was comfortable. Check in was easy! The only complaint I have is the valet parking was horrible. Once you arrive there is a very small circle driveway that u are expected to get out and leave your car there while there are six other cars in the way, the attendant then asked you are you parking […] over night or visiting and then tries to get information out of you while your trying to unpack your car and it's 30 degrees outside. And asking what's your room number over and over "I don't know I just pulled up", then after we check in they run up to you again to ask for the room number. They help you bring in your things and immediately take the cart. When it's time retrieve your car you have to ride down a different elevator to the valet booth and they they in turn take about ten minutes of asking questions and getting your car. It's a big headache... Please find a new system! Also the attendance will act like they do not understand you! Lisateave

Staff nice, hotel clean. Mini recfrigerator brought to room upon.request. I had chosen this hotel b/c offered both a pool and hot tub. Very disappointed that jets in hot tub were not working. Had anticipated $5 credit for Starbucks for "going green" but was only offered $5 credit at hotel's restaurant which didn't benefit us since we were checking out […] when coupon was dispersed. Our room was a little dirty and smelled a little like poo, but the beds at starwood hotels are so awesome. Our shower was also broken. I wouldn't stay there again, but would find the next closest starwood hotel.

I had no problem with hotel other than checking in.

Great safe and walkable location. Awesome for pre-marathon comforts and dining.

There was absolutely nothing in this hotel that would warrant the price they charged for a simple two twin-bed room. Excessive!!

The hotel was GORGEOUS. The bed was one of the most comfortorable I've ever slept in. Right on par with a Hyatt. It's not very close to DC so I wouldn't recommend it if you want convenience. Valet parking is $22 and you have no option other than valet. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone staying in the area […] and would most definitely stay at a Westin in the future. Lisateave

We arrived at the hotel after a long ride from the Hampton Roads area via "backroads" to Arlington. The valet and the concierge "Cynthia" were very friendly and greeted us warmly. At the front desk, there 2 women that were being helped. Samia the Front Desk person was all smiles and had friendly banter for them as she completed their transaction as […] gave directions to their room. When we approached the desk, we were met with curtness, no smile, and no friendly banter. She did manage to mumble a "Good Afternoon" with no eye contact. She was rude. Plain and simple. Rude. I gave her our name and asked her about the parking. She curtly told us what the rates were, told us our room number, and pointed to the elevators. I was angry and about ask for the manager on duty, but I didn't. I gave Samia a 'free pass". No worries, I made notes for this review to post. The rest of the our 3 day stay was great. Restaurant and bar staff were outstanding. The facilities and location met and exceeded our needs for this trip. Suggestion: Retraining for Samia and all front desk personnel on customer service for ALL GUESTS! When a guest approaches the counter, ALL conversations (non work related ) amongst coworkers should stop upon the approach of guests. We will stay again if needed, but will not be as forgiving with the rudeness. Lisateave

The only thing we were not happy was the pillows,they were so soft,we could not sleep at all,the valet parking is kindle expensive,other wide everything was very nice

The only complaint I had was that the door man n the dude that wanted to park my car stood at my car breathing down my neck rushing me to get my belonging out of my car. I really don't like to be rushed when im on vacation.

We loved this hotel! It was a short, 2 block walk to the Metro. The hotel was super clean and the staff was very friendly and courteous.

Great service. Staff always had a smile. In nice neighborhood and only a 10 min drive to all attractions of DC.

3rd time to the area - 3rd time staying at the Weston. The location is very convenient, and the hotel is very nice. Super comfortable beds! Great value. Will stay there again!

Website mentioned that microwave is available upon request. I requested it while booking and the request was ignored. At checkin, i requested again. they first said they dont have microwaves in rooms. Then another receptionist told me that they can give me microwave at $25/day. Next time, I will go for another hotel.

Loved my stay at this hotel. The staff bent over backwards to help us. The location was great, just around the corner from the Ballston Sation, and one block from eating establishments for both morning and night. The parking was a bit excessive. But if you don't have a car it's wonderful!

Our family stayed The Westin Arlington Gateway during Canada day and independance day. The place was easy to access to Washington D.C downtown - just 10 minutes dirve from the hotel. Macy, big mall, coffeeshop and foodcourt are just around corner. We can park a car at the parking lot at the mall during Saturday and Sunday, The fee of parking was just […] 1 dollar per night. However, it is a different story during weekday so be careful to paring at the mall over night.. The room is very comfort and quality of hotel service are top rating. Lisateave
