Downtown Hotel - Victoria

This was my second time staying at the Downtown. It is located centrally in Gozo and is only a short walk to the city centre including bus terminal and shopping area. The hotel is noisy as the floors are furnished with tiles and you can hear everyone coming and going - particularly on the weekends when the Maltese visit and they speak WAY too loudly […] and have no respect for other hotel patrons. Although this is not a fault of the hotel administration per se, but it would be better for other non-Maltese patrons if they were located to their own floor. They are gone on Sunday so the main part of the week is fairly quiet. The breakfast is very basic and is the same each and every day. This is okay if you are staying for a few days - it can get a little boring if you stay more than 2-3 days. The hotel is very clean and the bathroom is well accomodated. There is a balcony too and the country views are lovely. You do not get many hotel amenities - basically its a combo bath/shampoo gel on offer. The TV is the old style tube TV. Overall, its a budget hotel at a budget price - you get what you pay for - nothing more and nothing less. Staff are helpful but only greet you if you speak to them first. Would I consider staying there again - yes, but will compare with other similar hotels in the area first. Lisateave

Warm despite cool March weather. Comfortable with nice bathroom and overlooking fields - a rather distant sea view. Breakfast was old-fashioned and basic - baked beans, 'plastic' scrambled eggs, tired sausages, cornflakes.

It's an average hotel in almost all respects, the location is good, although nothing is far from anything else in Victoria (Rabat)

The hotel is a short walk from the main bus station on the island, however the footpaths on the direct route are rather narrow if you are dragging luggage. Despite it being opposite some secondary schools and a sports centre we heard no noise. The room was a reasonable size. The hotel itself looks more modern and tidy than the surrounding area. The […] staff were very helpful; when my traveling companion lost their iPhone she contacted the taxi driver we had used and she brought it back for them (it had fallen out in the taxi luckily, not on a previous bus or boat journey). The hotel was just okay. I made a one night reservation to be in Victoria (Rabat) because I did not know the island of Gozo. My second night was at a far superior hotel for very little extra money. I would have spent two nights at the more luxurious hotel had I known. It's not a bad hotel, but it is rather ordinary.

Centrally placed, comfortable with added bonus of rooftop swimming pool the Downtown Hotel was just right for exploring Gozo. If any complaint (and this would apply to many hotels - no proper coffee at breakfast)

The hotel is simple, clean, helpful staff, good and efrficient dining room (took us on for dinner, tho we didn't have half board, when terrible weather broke out). Certainly a good and reasonable value for anyone who just wants to base overnight in Gozo for sightseeing--not for beaching or ambiance. We were pleased with our stay.

A basic hotel..very quiet. We went in August and had the pool to ourselves most of the time which was great. It was clean and the breakfast was quite nice. There is really nothing nearby though. It is located on its own amongst residential area and a school with country side at the rear of the hotel. The courtesy bus that operates daily to other parts […] of the island is really handy! Efficient service instead of waiting on the local bus. Overall, a good stay but definitely for chilling out as there isnt much else to do in the evenings. Lisateave

Reasonable price, reasonable hotel. Staff helpful, breakfast good, room too. TV was fuzzy and hardly any channels. Mainly Italian. Room was very clean and nicely stocked mini bar, bathroom was clean too. Fully working AC which is very important for a hot country. I was happy with my stay and would stay again. 7/10

Good value, central location. However rather noisy at night and must be one of the few hotels in the maltese islands which takes dogs reasons for which I would not recommend this hotel.

A very nice hotel, friendly staff and nice cafe in the hotel. the rooms were a decent size anbd very clean, only complaint is the bed was a bit hard, other than that I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel was nice. Room was up to standards with a/c (thank god), mini bar - careful as some products were expired. Clean, and nice balcony. Location, not great. YOU DEFIANTLY NEED TO RENT A CAR!!! Its not near any beach, there is local shops near by, but to get anywhere by foot is a long way and taxi's are reasonable, but you need them to get everywhere, […] therefore it all adds up. The roof top pool is lovely, but can get busy, as locals use it too. Food is nice, cakes are great. Probably best to go half board too. Lisateave

my girlfriend and I have spent only 1 night in downtown hotel during our visit in malta. We certainly had a great in there. Firstly, the receptionists can not be more helpful and friendly, they printed out timetable of everything on your requests, free shuttle bus (a van actually) every morning to different siteseeing location at10am and pickup at 2pm […] (need to book it). We went to ramla bay which can be reached by public transport on the day we checkout and the very kind receptionist allow us to use the bathroom and check out after. This normally require extra cost in some hotels. Besides, everything in the hotel is pretty new and in good condition. A lot better than those we stayed at in Malta main island, Melliha bay hotel and Imperial hotel. And I believe this hotel is suitable for all ages. We met an old couples and middle age couples ( we are graduated student) in the swimming pool on the roof. We all love this hotel! However, it may be a bit tricky to find. It takes about 15mins from bus terminal. Just ask the locals or any one you see and they are very friendly and helpful. It is not a 5 stars hilton, but dfinitely make you feel like home. This hotel made me so happy that I have to pay the first tip I ever paid. Lisateave

Stannade där under två dagar, hotellet var väldigt centralt belagt, nära till allt. Rummet var bekvämt, fräscht och trevligt. Fräscht badrum med badkar och dusch. Inga störningar av grannar eller så. Frukosten var trevligt och enkelt: English breakfast, mackor, flingor, juice och frukt. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal.

Pas de restaurant le soir de notre arrivée et repas au Snack limite.Pas d'éclairage dans la salle de bain.dés la deuxième nuit; signalé le matin, pas réparé le soir. Sommier détérioré de mon coté.

Séjour d'une seule nuit. Hôtel globalement satisfaisant pour une nuit mais pas beaucoup plus. Une fenêtre dans la chambre mais qui donnait sur une cour fermée donc chambre très peu lumineuse. Petit déjeuner à améliorer (peu de choix) et salle du petit déjeuner très sombre également.

Bon hôtel, petit déjeuner plutôt complet. Dommage que l'hôtel ne soit pas mieux situé. Il faut marcher 10min pour aller prendre un bus ou trouver un restaurant.

hôtel qui a l'énorme avantage d'être situé à victoria, capitale de gozo, et centre du réseau de bus qui distribue l'île en étoile. proche du centre à pied. buffet de petit-déjeuner copieux. une piscine est située sur le toit de l'hôtel et, autre avantage, son accès est sans supplément. le système de carte magnétique pour l'ascenseur et la chambre fonctionne […] bien. Ich bin froh für meinen Kurztrip von 4 Tagen im Juli 2010 das Downtown Hotel gewähltr zu haben. Es ist eigentlich ein seelenloses neubau Hotel (schallharter Betonkasten) aber in dem ganzen mittelalterlichen Stil in Gozo war es mir recht ein gut klimatisiertes und ordentliches neues Haus zu haben. WLAN in der Lobby verfügbar kostenlos und schnell. Frühstück […] unambitioniert aber noch so OK. Service ansonsten OK, sauber ... so la la (der Balkon wurde nie geputzt) . 14 Tage Sommerurlaub möcht ich da nicht machen. Zu steril. Aber als Ausgangspunkt für Spaziergänge ins abendliche Victoria und auf der Insel an sich ideal. Bier Minibar 1,5 € ist OK. Lisateave

Notre séjour c'est très bien passé. L'hotel était propre et confortable. Il est proche du centre ville. Pratique pour se déplacer et aller manger pas très loin le soir. Le petit déjeuner était copieux. Tres bon rapport qualite prix. Points négatifs : déco un peu rustique A recommander
