I found this hotel to be of a reasonable standard and good value for money. The reception staff were professional and when we reported a problem of water leaking outside our room it was dealt with promptly. The room was a reasonable size although the bathroom a little on the small side!! Still a good location, value and overall I think its a good base […] for a couple of days in London, very handy for the tube and I would stay there again if visiting London under my own steam. Only complaint would be that the room was a little too cold at night for my liking. Lisateave

This hotel is tituated just off of Hyde Park and close to transportation and shops and restaurants. The staff is great and the rooms are nicely furnished although the "single" room truly meets the old Brisich saying that's it is not large enough to swing a cat. I understand the economy of scale but sometimes it can be overdone.

The lobby is beautiful and very ornate. An although the room was quite small, it was pleasant enough and seemed like decent value. Unfortunately my room was at the back of the hotel and the entire back wall of the room was basically windows. The blinds on the windows were translucent (and one was broken) and with all the ambient light from the street, […] my room never got dark. Together with the time change, that was havoc on my circadian rhythms. I barely slept at all. A bedroom needs to be dark! I was in London for business so, after a day of meetings, I just wanted to come back to the hotel rest a little and go out to dinner close by. That meant I eat on Queensway, which is an absolutely vulgar street. So maybe it would have been better for me to be in a different neighborhood. Lisateave

This hotel has a great location. The building is steeped in history and architecture. The staff is great! The rooms are EXTREMLY small but newly renovated. Now for the disaster - I work as a retail consultant so I find the situation perplexing - The management is a disaster...no follow up, they pass the buck from one to the other, they use each other […] as an excuse, they talk down to the staff. Usually when you have this behavior within management it infects the staff, thankfully the virus hasn’t spread! Of the several issues (lost laundry, poorly laundered shirts, and forgotten room service orders) the worst was that none of my business colleagues or I were able to use Outlook to check our mail and work from the hotel because of blocked ports in there router. When we asked them to review this giving them the technical solution on the first day nothing was done. We had to repeat the problem and solution to every manager at the desk for the next 3 days. On the 4th day their IT support guy appeared and gave us the simple response that it was due to company policy and that he had no idea why. When we asked why a hotel that caters to business people would block internet access to our corporate email accounts they couldn't give us an answer. They advertise internet access but for what? Of all my hotel stays around the world I have never seen email access blocked. Lisateave

Yes, the rooms are small. Once you get used to the fact that most European hotel rooms are small, you will love this hotel. The wood paneling in the lobby and staircase is outstanding. The wifi, a necessity for us, worked well. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom contained a shower/tub combo (with HOT water!), toilet, and a large bowl sink. […] There are two underground stations nearby: Queensway and Bayswater. There are souvenir shops and restaurants on the way to the underground stations (skip the expensive hotel breakfast!). My husband and I enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others travelling to London. Lisateave

We enjoyed the stay and would use the hotel again, we would also recommend this hotel to others.

To start with the positives, the hotel was clean and presented well. The room was newly refurbished to a good standard. The hotel was also in a good location, close to Queensway Tube stop and Hyde Park. On the negative side, we booked superior double room which on the top floor which was very small. The room was also unbearably hot. The heating in the […] room was not on and we turned the temperature down to 17c hoping to cool it down, though the air conditioning wasnt working as it should so this had little impact. We ended up 'sleeping' in a room which was north of 30c with the windows wide open and a building site was down the road, together with a hostel and hence addditional noise. Only the BBC channel worked on the TV which was not so much of an issue. The shower only had power using cold water. A dribble of luke warm water was achieved when holding the shower head at knee height which is not much use. Given what we paid for the room, I would not recommend this hotel. Lisateave

Ok hotel, Great location. Extreamly clean but EXTREAMLY small room. Did the job for the 2 nights. Wouldn't pay full rack rate but would stay again if there was a special rate. More like a nice B&B than a 4 star hotel.

I encountered a number of problems at Grand Royale: First, the receptionist at arrival was not the most welcoming and claimed I had to pay on arrival, despite the fact that I had already paid online. She eventually recognised her mistake after a number of phone calls. Second, the water supply was not working in my room: the taps were not working properly, […] the shower was not working and the toilet was not flushing very well. I was allowed to access another room for the shower in the morning. Third, my room was not as clean as I had expected. Fourth, there was no mobile phone coverage (O2) in my room, and last, my room was increadibly small (although that's a common problem in London hotels). For all these reasons I found the hotel to be overrated and I don't think it offers the standards that you would expect for the price that was charged. Lisateave

hotel was very clean and homely , staff were helpfull when needed and the hotel had lovely old style reception and sitting room very nice, rooms very fresh and clean a bit on the small side but still very cosy. overall very happy with the hotel it is only 1/2 mile from oxford street ,bus and tube outside the door pat cork lreland

The Grand Royale just renovated. Great little hotel with a great deal of history. Super friendly and attentive staff. Nice breakfast complimentary on the second floor. Charming neighborhood and convenient to the Tubes. Highly recommend it!

My stay was like a joke. Altough I booked a deluxe room and mentioned it four times, they gave me a compact room, then I went to reception again and they changed my room which was 30 cm bigger than the compact one, rooms are very very small. Then when I wanted to have a shower, the water pressure was very low, I called reception and the day after day […] said they fixed that, but no, it was a lie. again I said it again, again they said they fixed but nope. Also the windows are very bad, you can hear everything from the outside. The room was cold also, they gave me a heater so I couldn't walk at the room. At night there was a knocking because of the water pipes. So I hope you find another hotel. Lisateave

I was looking a hotel which reasonable price and clean room. And this hotel was what I expected. As other people said the room was very small – but I already knew about it. I just need good sleep and take hot shower – so the room not has to be big for me. There are many restaurants and shopping stores near the hotel – so it was very convenient! Nice hotel in a good location and quiet very little outside traffic noise. The basement rooms were small but very nicely decorated. All in all I would stay here again. My only gripe was the TV remote was missing.

The Hotel was pretty, however the front desk service was not. I called for extra towels 3 times before I actually recieved them. At check out I found out I had a smaller room than I booked and asked for a refund for the difference and got the 3 degree about it. It was like the clerk would get fired for a refund. When the manager took over and proceded […] to give me the refund of the difference he also began with a million questions. After I made it clear this was rude, he toned it down. Lisateave

very clean, convenient location but the superior room we booked, was so small that our 4 bags and us could barely fit in. The bathroom was minuscule...Expected more room from a 4 star hotel....

I put my mother up in this hotel while she visited me in London for a week. The room was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and efficient. The building and reception area are quite grand - sort of a Victorian London club atmosphere (the building was allegedly built as a present for a royals mistress) which makes it a more interesting place […] to stay than many other hotels in the area. The only issue with the hotel is that the lifts can be a bit temperamental which may be an issue for less mobile guests. Added to the fact that it represented excellent relative value in comparison to the areas many other hotels I think this hotel can be warmly recommended. Lisateave

I really want to recommend this hotel. On the surface, it should have been perfect -- great location, stylish and well-kept, up-to-date features in rooms. It really should be ideal. But things just didn't go well for us here. We were staying 5 nights. On the night we checked in, the elevators were acting very flaky. As we were on the 8th floor, this […] was troubling. The wifi in our room was not working well at all. I got a solid connection, but the network itself was unusable. The big problem, though, showed itself on our first morning. No hot water. I called down to the front desk and they said they had a problem getting hot water to the 8th floor. Not sure why, our water pressure was great -- just no hot at all. They gave us the key to a room of someone who had checked out (but the room was not yet cleaned) for us to shower in. So we had to walk through the lobby to get to the room in which we would shower. This was not great, but they said it would be fixed by the next morning. The next morning came, and we still had no hot water. I called the front desk and they said it would be fixed within 30 minutes. An hour later, we just took cold showers and headed out for the day. On our return, we found we still had no hot water, so they moved us to a new room on the 7th floor. We confirmed the existence of hot water. However, the next morning, we discovered the shower in that room had no pressure. And when I say "no pressure" I mean it -- you had to take the shower handle off the holder and hold it around waist high to get a trickle of water to flow. Sure, we had warm water, but it wasn't coming out. (The sink worked fine). So we asked to be moved again, and when we got back from our day out they had put us on the first floor. This room had good water pressure, good water temp. It was decidedly smaller. Also, the shower curtain was way too big for the stall, such that it bunched up and blocked the drain - which meant the shower overflowed on our first morning using Lisateave

The staff was charming, the lobby was charming, clssic British. Breakfast was NOT included. The room was very, very tiny. But the location was wonderful. I love that area anyway.

This is a historic hotel, right next to Hyde park and a few train stations away from most downtown attractions. You can also walk to Paddington Station - convenient for the flight home so you don't have to buy a rail pass that day. The hotel is pretty, and the rooms updated. It does have wireless, but there may not be enough range to reach your room. […] I went to the lobby with my laptop, then had no problem. The room is small - I wouldn't have wanted to share it. Strange that the bathroom has no shower curtain; water went everywhere when showering. My room had a few unfortunate problems: subground level with people talking and smoking outside it in the morning. Also, there was a wet spot on the floor that did not go away. I would have asked for another room, but was busy and didn't mind too much. The staff were quick to address problems I did bring up though, and tried to be helpful. They didn't give good restaurant recommendations, saying to go down Queesnway (OK, not worth what I paid). Find your own. Overall, a good experience. Lisateave

Very classic English Boutique Hotel with Updated rooms and classic lobby. Staff is not that attentive, but not rude. Was very surprised at how modern the new rooms are in contrast to a wood-paneled English lobby. Very close to Central line Tube--Queensway and right across the street from Kennsington Park. Neighborhood has restaurants and small shops. […] Walking distance to Notting Hill Gate and Portobello Market. Room had some wear, but was a great price and location for London. Lisateave

The hotel apparently recently change it's name, so our taxi driver didn't recognize it right away. The hotel rooms were very modern, brightly lit, and clean; beds were very comfortable. AC and Internet worked flawlessly.

I love this place. The rooms are tiny, but the decor is fabulous and the common areas make up for it. Small hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely return

Hotel excellent. The only negative is the small size of the bedroom. Otherwise the room was excellently appointed and the rest of the hotel absolutely tremendous. Best value in London

Nice hotel, nice location. Extremely small rooms!!!! Bath room was nearly as big as the bedroom. Hardly enough room to get out one side of the bed. Let alone use the pointless dressing table. I visited with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, so tried to call and add some extras to the room. Only to be given another number which nobody would answer. […] After over a day of trying i decided to spend my money elsewhere! Lisateave

This hotel is immaculately maintained--it has all of the old world charm that a building of its age can offer, but with all of the most up-to-date furnishings and decor. My bathroom was pristine, with brand-new fixtures. A beautiful hotel all around. VERY QUIET, CLEAN (THOUGH SMALL) ROOM, GREAT LOCATION. WOULD RECOMMEND.

Wie sehr Häufig, ein preisgünstiges sauberes zentrales Hotel in London zu finden ist sehr schwer. Der Gran Royale London Hyde Park kann diese erwartungen ausreichend ausfüllen. Das einzige Makel, das Doppelzimmer war klein und der Dusche sogar sehr Eng.

Jag och min flickvän stannade här över en weekend. Jag tycker att hotellet var mycket bra och vi hade den turen att bli uppgraderade till club room istället för deluxe room. Rummet som vi fick var väldig bra, perfekt yta för 2 och sängen var jätte skön. Dock så var duschen lite liten, men inget man klagar på, jag menar man fick ju mer än plats. och […] kunde utan problem duscha. Lokalerna i sig tycker jag var mycket fräscha. och personalen trevlig. Läget alldeles utmärkt, 100-150 meter till Hyde park, 150-200 meter till Queensway. det uppfyllde alla mina krav med bravur Lisateave

Dårlig server om mange fejl ved booking. Værelset var meget lille, dårligt udstyret bla. mangledne bøjler, vindue kunne lukkes/lukkes op. Og mange fejl fra receptione glemt vægning,

Hotellets personal var mycket servicevänliga och ställde upp mycket bra.Rummet var rent och prydligt men storleken motsvarade inte mina förväntningar då det var så litet att man fick tränga sig in genom dörren för att komma i i rummet där den gångbara ytan var ett minimum. Det gick inte att fälla upp väskstället för då blev golvytan i stort sett helt […] belagd och man kunde inte ta sig in i eller fram i rummet. Rummet var ett s k Deluxe-rum med dubbelsäng Ytterligare fungerade inte internet på rummet och personalen kunde inte avhjälpa felet. Internet på rummet är och var i detta fall ett av de viktigare kriterierna när jag valde hotel då jag arbetar mycket via internet. Det enda ställe man kunde komma ut på Internet var nere i lobbyn wia trådlöst internet. Varför jag svarade nej på att rekommendera hotellet beror på helt på ovanstående. Men som jag inledde med , personalen var mycket tillmötesgående. Tyvärr kunde man inte hjälpa mig. Lisateave

Var på dette hotel i starten af december 2010 med min søster i forbindelse med en 4-dages shoppetur. Vi gik fra hotellet kl. 9 om morgenen og kom hjem sent om aftenen, så det var ikke mange timer vi opholdt os på værelset, men vi havde alligevel prioriteret at få et hotel/værelse, hvor der var rent og pænt - og det skal jeg love for, at vi fik. Skønt […] lille værelse med 8 trin ned fra døren til værelset og ned til sengen/badeværelset. Flot nyrenoveret badeværelse. God seng. Eneste lille minus var, at der var under ½ meter fra sengen til vinduet og det trak lidt om natten, men ellers et meget meget hyggeligt hotel. Vi havde ikke booket morgenmad, men spiste på hotellet én morgen - flot spisestue og ok morgenmad, lidt dyr.... Meget tæt på Bayswater st. og Queensway st., men på ingen måde generende. Kan klart anbefales. Lisateave

Fortunatamente il chekin è di 24 ore su 24 visto che siamo arrivati all'1.30 di notte causa ritardo dell'aereo per condizioni meterologiche avverse. Le camere sono estremamente piccole, ma sono pulite. La posizione è molto strategica in quanto in pochi minuti si raggiungono tutti i punti + importanti della città e per di + ci sono ben 2 fermate della […] metrò (Queensway e Bayswater). La Wifi era gratuita e funzionante anche se a volte si intasava. Essendo in un quartiere multietnico, l'albergo è gestito da indiani estremamente gentili e si sono dimostrati disponibili per le poche volte che abbiamo avuto bisogno di loro. Lisateave

Da vi ankom til hotellet og ventede i receptionen på at den uorganiseret receptionist ikke kunne finde ud af om telefonen eller vi var vigtigere! Vi ventede måske i 10 minutter enden hun havde tid til at kigge på vores reservation. Vi fik tildelt et værelse i kælderen - det var skummelt og koldt men vi fik presset vores kuffert ind i værelset på en […] eller anden måde. Vi ankom til hotellet ca. kl. 22 og vi efterså værelse for at se om alt var iorden. Værelset var småt og det var lige meget hvordan vi prøvet at undgå at ramle ind i hinanden så var det umuligt - værelset var lavet til en person og slet ikke 2. Efter vi havde opholdt os i værelses i 30 minutter begyndte det at blive koldt og dette skyldes værelses store vindue som ikke var tæt. Gardinet der dækket det store vindue til var næsten halvt blæst ind i værelses og dette skyldes den utæthed. Vi kig straks ned til receptionen og bedte om et nyt værelse og dette blev vi så tildelt men kvaliteten og renheden var lig med NUL. Jeg håber at have gjort det klart at sådan et hotel skal man ikke vælge om man ønsker et vellykket ophold i London. Lisateave

Veldig bra hotell for prisen. Passer nok best for par siden sengene er ganske små og det er kun en dyne. Men vil tilbake igjen dit, helt klart!

très bien comme hôtel, accueil charmant. chambre petit mais nous avions été prévenus par les photos et par les commantaires. mais sans réelle importance surtout pour une nuit.

Der var ingen varme og varmt vand - varmesystemet var brudt sammen, vi annullerede og fandt et andet hotel.

Venligt personale , god morgenmad. Men ingen varm vand i hanen. Vi var der i 4 dage og måtte de 3 af dagene koge vand for at blive vasket. sidstedag var der heller ikke strøm til at koge vand Det var simpelthen en stor forringelse af standarden at der ikke blev handlet så forholdene var i orden. Det påvirkede bestmet vores ferie at vi måtte vaske os […] i iskoldt vand og det havde set pænt ud hvis vi havde fået refunderet noget af beløbet. Personalet sagde hele tiden det varme vand kommer iaften - i morgen tidlig - osv men det kom aldrig. Jeg vil ikke anbefale dette til andre og ej komme der iselv gen. Ærgerlig for hotellet var ellers et smukt gammelt hotel dog med al for små værelser. Lisateave
