Riad Mimouna - Essaouira

This was like staying in a Moroccan palace- tiles, painted ceilings, water fountain. Built in the early 20th century,it is a bit dark and shows its age but it was charming and had TV.

The hotel had friendly staff , clean rooms and was overall pretty amazing. You must must must get a seaview room . It's absolutely stunning. Walking through the medina it seems that there couldnt be such a nice hotel as this- but there is. They even upgraded us to a seaview room for free!

This is more of a hotel than a riad - it feels more like a hotel than a home due to it's size and formality. Stayed for 4 nights and had a sea view room on the top floor - definitely recommended! The hotel is part of the sea wall / defences, so the sight and noise of the waves crashing is amazing. Missing the point if you don't get a sea view room I […] think. Location great for wandering around the town, close to the entry point to walk the ramparts, and also the thuya wood workshops. The streets around the hotel are old narrow alleys (some uneven ground), and some do get very dark at night. Never felt unsafe, but glad we had a torch. Imagine some people would find it hard to get their bearings.. Breakfast was on the roof terrace (covered so not windy), and substantial. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and there are big communal areas with free wifi, great to read a book etc. Highly recommended. Lisateave

My wife and I had a wonderful time at La Mimouna-Essouira. The hotel is very comfortable and the personel exceptional. Kudos to Hanane and Aziz for making our stay memorable. Great people in a great environment.! Warmest regards from the USA Moustapha & Marcia

Riad Mimouna is by far the best place I have ever stayed in Essaouira. The staff is very friendly and the location along the ocean ideal. A wonderful hotel.

The hotel is a converted building with 3 floors of rooms - larger than most traditional riads. It has a very charming large lobby with Moroccon furnishings and decor, and is located right on a magnificent beach - you won't see the beach unless you have a room facing that direction or until you go to the the roof-top breakfast.. The view from the roof-top […] is stunning and worth the stay. There is no elevator so the porter has to carry your luggage up a circular suitcase for you - which means tips are involved. The rooms are on the small side and therefore rooms with two beds have very small, very firm mattress beds with clean linens - although the bed covers seemed like they could use a washing. The furniture was worn and dated but acceptable. There is no air conditioning so opening a window is required for air circulation - some rooms on some floors may require some thought to security before considering leaving a window open in the evening. The room did smell a little musty - to be expected to some degree at a beachside hotel. The biggest surprise was that the hotel is located far and deep into the Essaouira medina. Which requires having to contract porters (more tips) with wheelbarrow-like carts to take you and your luggage to the hotel through long winding and narrow paths - at night it can feel a little intimidating. The good news is that during the day-time, you are situated in a great spot to go sight-see, shop, and eat in the medina and on the beach. Lisateave

Thsi is more of a hotel than riad due to its size and layout. The terrace is nice but it is so windy i can't imagine eating out there. The views (of the sea) were great but you are almost on the furthest edge of the square and the beach so location was not perfect. The dark streets can seem a little threatening at night. Es un hotel altamente recomendable. Además su estructura es de ryad por lo que a la vez de cómodo, es totalmente autóctono. Sin duda, sugerimos habitaciones frente al mar, y una visita a la terraza del hotel para apreciar las vistas. El único punto "negativo", es que es un poco complicado encontrarlo, aún así, al estar dentro de la medina, NO HACE […] FALTA COGER TAXI. Lisateave

Hotellet var helt fantastisk,selv om det var meget gammelt. ligger ute i brenningene i Atlanteren, bølgene slår mot hotellet på høyvann Det er ikke mulig å komme til hotellet med taxi, da det ligger inne i medinaen, men der er nok av vognmenn som tar bagasjen til hotellet. PS. avtal pris på forhånd

Hotellet lå fint til med fantastisk sjøutsikt og i medinaen. Veldig vanskelig å finne uten guide, men vi brukte bagasjetransportør fra bilen som viste veien. Det er ikke mulig å kjøre til hotellet, da det ligger et stykke inn i medinaen ca. 5-10min gåavstand. Frokosten var så som så, brødet kunne variere fra å være ferskt til 3-4 dager gammelt. Og morgenkaffen […] hente å være traktet kvelden/morgenen før. Men utsikten fra takterrassen frokosten ble servert gjorde det absolutt værdt å spise frokost der uansett. Personalet var svært hjelpsomme og anbefalte og viste vei til bortgjemte pærler av restaraunter og bisto i alt annet vi måtte ønske. Lisateave

Nice Ryad, faboulous location at the waterfront, still close to the medina, nice roof terrace, friendly staff. But overpriced hammam

this is a good hotel - the seaview from hotelroom was great.

Hotellet lå bra til, litt vanskelig å navigere seg gjennom gatene for å finne det. Takterrassen hadde utsikt rett ut i havet og ut over byen. Frokosten var utorlig bra, hyggelig personale, rent rom. Vil anbefale dette til folk som vil bo komfortabelt men ikke i overdådig luksus.

Ce grand riad se trouve dans la medina et au bord de l'océan (mais pas de la plage qui est 10mn à pied).Le personnel est excellent, très agréable et nous avons même eu la chance de dormir dans une mini suite, un havre de paix. Tout y est charmant. Les petits points négatifs (mais pas bien graves) sont qu'il n'y a aucune animation, même pas de musique […] et pas de bar à part le restaurant au dernier étage qui est vide et sans ambiance...il faut bien choisir sa chambre car malgré la vue exceptionnelle de l'océan claquant sur les rochers, celà fait bcp de bruit la nuit et peut vous empêcher de dormir... et il est préférable de prendre un hôtel avec piscine si vous souhaitez profiter du soleil car à la plage ça caille et le vent vous envoie constamment du sable... sinon nous avons trouve ce riad un peu cher mais ça vaut le coup pour roucouler en amoureux... Très beau riad, décoré dans un style typiquement marocain - un environnement authentique par excellence (enfin, version riche - ça change de ce qu'on pourrait voir dans la rue...). On se sent plus comme dans un hôtel que comme dans un riad (dans le sens propre du mot), vu que le riad Mimouna est assez grand. Pourtant cela n'enlève rien à son charme. […] Le service est excellent et le riad - beau, propre et très calme. Il faut prendre une chambre avec vue sur l'océan, si non l'aventure perd de son charme !!! Lisateave
