Oyster Bay Beach Resort - Oyster Pond (Holland)

This was our first visit ever to St. Maarten. It a beautiful island with warm temperatures, blue water and friendly people and it's only a 4 hour direct flight away from most of the East Coast. Oyster Bay is a perfect spot, it sits right on the border of Dutch and French sides, it's only 20 minutes from Phillipsburg, the Dutch capital which is great […] for shopping and only 20 minutes away from the pristine clothing optional Orient Bay on the French side along with gourmet French cuisine dining options at Grand Case. The property is well maintained with a beautiful views, excellent beach front , a serene bay side, an awesome Infinity pool, great restaurants options on and around the property. I will recommend this location and property to anybody visiting this beautiful Island. Lisateave

We were in-transit between villas on our 3 week stay in St. M and needed a one night stay to bridge the gap between 2 different villas (one was on the French side that uses Saturday to Saturday; the second was near Oyster Pond/Dawn Beach that uses Sunday to Sunday), so we lighted at OBBR for one night. Parking is terrible with not enough spaces for […] the number of guests on site. So it was not a good start to the overnight. That being said, one of the staff volunteered to drive my car and find a spot for us (which he did and returned the keys and gave us the location). He also brought us ice for drinks and was very helpful. So the overnight improved markedly. We had dinner on-site....a buffet (my wife and I are not fond of buffets). It was satisfactory, but nothing to WOW you. However, we had the most delicious croissants the next morning at a small grocery store right out side of the gate to the resort, so that was a PLUS. Check-out was early (10:00 a.m.) but our villa was not to be ready til 3:00 p.m. We were able to check out, store our bags, and use the pool facilities until 3:00 without additional charge. Lunch at the bar (BLT's and drinks) were very good, and the service was attentive. Our room faced the ocean and Dawn Beach...just breathtaking. However, the studio room was a bit crowded and in need of restoration. The bathroom was updated, but unfortunately, the bedroom area was not. all in all, we found the resort quite acceptable, but overpriced at the in-season rate. Lisateave

upon arrival given a room upon r entry it wqas alreay occuppied. new room smelt of urine and just musty.. booked a boat trip was told would return by 1.00 pm we had to get a boat to return us as it left an hour late and wasnt going to return until 3 pm we had to leave by this time to get a flight out to another island.

Overall the stay was nice. They tried to offer us a free breakfast for the next morning with some special 2 for deals. But we noticed upon closer inspection that this was to try to sell us a time share. After we declined they did let us alone. Workers very friendly and helpful. Very nice workout room with A/C. The pool was very nice and the room faced […] the ocean. It is a bit out of the way from things. We rented a car and drove all over the island. This I would recommend. Otherwise you could be stuck doing the resort activities and miss the sights. We checked in on a Monday afternoon and checked out on a Sunday morning. Nobody was doing this at those times and so it went very smoothly and quickly. We saw lots of people coming in on Saturday. So if you like not waiting recommend you not check in or out on a Saturday. The hotel restaurant was quite nice. And down the front drive, just a few hundred yards were 2 very nice restaurants and a grocery store. The location is right on the Dutch/French border, so it is easy to get to the French side. All in all it was a great stay Lisateave

Leider ist der Grossteil des Hotelpersonals in diesem wunderschön gelegenen und gut gepflegten Resort nicht sehr freundlich. Gastfreundlich umsorgt wurden wir selten. Wünsche wurden zwar erfüllt und Anfragen beantwortet, aber oft nur mit spürbar wenig Begeisterung und zum Teil effektiver Unfreundlichkeit. Schade, das Hotel wäre sonst wäre sonst traumhaft. […] Die Zimmer und das Bad sind sehr grosszügig. Der einzige Nachteil war, dass wir im Hauptteil des Hotels untergebracht wurden wo abends fast immer Unterhaltung geboten wurde (Livemusik) und sich die Gäste auch noch bis spät Abends an der Bar treffen. Dies war oft etwas zu gut hörbar in unserem Zimmer. Wichtiger Punkt für Taucher: Die Tauchbasis ist ca. 15 Autominuten entfernt, uns wurde gesagt, sie wäre direkt vor Ort, damit ist aber wohl gemeint, dass man an der Hotelrezeption Tauchausflüge buchen kann. Die vom Hotel empfohlene Tauchbasis war leider nicht so empfehlenswert. Fragen Sie, welche anderen Basen es noch gibt, denn es gibt gleich neben der "Hoteltauchschule" noch eine andere, die einen wesentlich professionelleren und beliebteren Eindruck machte. Lisateave

Très bien, même si cet hôtel comporte un epartie Timshare, pas d'ennui au contraire une bonne animation et sortie proposée. le coin cuisine s'est traduit par un simple frigo et micro onde sans vaisselle
