Coco Palm - Gros Islet

Not top notch but good basic hotel for the money.

This was my second trip to St. Lucia and my second stay at Coco Palm. It is conveniently located near Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach, and excellent restaurants. The staff are wonderful and the hotel is great! The "swim up" room is particularly fun! I would highly recommend this hotel.

We were in the Kreole rooms in the older building, they were clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower had plenty of water pressure and the AC kept the room chilled, we even had to turn the temp up a little. We had a room with a wrap around balcony which was very nice, we used it nearly every evening for a night cap. The only negative was that their […] is very limited space for clothes, we ended up mostly living out of the suitcases. Also, the Kreole building is right on the strip of restaurants and bars so you have some noise and music until about 1am each night. If you are a light sleeper you might want to stay in one of the other buildings, or just stay out to 1am! The pool is really nice with plenty of lounge chairs, we always were able to find a pair when we wanted to hang out by the pool. We only ate at the hotel restaurant once, we asked for some vegetables for a snack and they tried to charge us $9 US for a couple pieces of carrots and broccoli. I am not much for hotel restaurants anyway so that sealed the deal for ever eating their again. The staff that cleans the rooms were very friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff was alright but didnt really go out of their way for you. The hotel is very close to Reduit beach if you would rather not hang out near the pool, you can take the back way and pop out at one end or you can walk up to the public access near Spinnakers which is about the center of the beach. The hotel is really well located, it is close to everything in Rodney Bay. We would definitely stay at this hotel again because we felt we got a good room at a great price at a great location. This hotel had a great location near Reduit Beach. It was about a 10 minute walk from exiting the hotel to the beach. The beach itself was calm and pristine, absolutely perfect! Hotel is also close to Pigeon Island park which was great for photos because of all the ruins. We walked from the hotel to Pigeon Island along the main road for exercise, but […] i recommend taking a cab. It was about an hour walk there. Cabs are also very plentiful around there and the hotel will be happy to set up excursions. I set up one to hike the Gros Piton, which is an hour and 45 minute cab ride away. So be prepared for long rides if you wanted to check out Soufriere. But the rides are enjoyable and the drivers will happily stop at nice views along the way. The food at this hotel was delicious and the pool was fantastic. It had families and couples alike stay there. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious with balconies. There are also restaurants and supermarkets/pharmacies all within 5-10 minute walking distance. Overall, I would stay there again! Lisateave

Coco Palm, Has been my first choice of hotel Since 2009. I have been and will continue to recommend this hotel to my friends, I love the privacy, the friendly staff and that pool, "Oh pool boy" best value for money. Ron

Our stay was a comfortable one at Coco Palm. Housekeeping was exceptional, rooms cleaned daily, clean towels everyday, clean sheets (they even surprised us with towel art (elephant) and tropical hibiscus on our bed one day :-) the location was gr8 in that it was close to duty free shopping, restaurants, malls and local taxi services and banks...... […] the ambiance of the surrounding was clean and filled with tropical plants and birds.....concierge service needs improvement tho.....oh and wi fi available. I highly recommend CoCo Palm. We stayed in the Creole house which is a bit older but still wonderful. The pool area is wonderful and all the staff are always very helpful, friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect, everything you need is walkable. The only cautionary comment I have is to be careful of the taxi fares. the hotel will call a taxi […] for you and almost insist on it, but they will call people they have relationships with and will not help you in understanding a reasonable deal and do not warn you about being over charged. Not a reason not to stay at the hotel, just don't assume they are looking out for your best interest in that situation. It's the fellow st.Lucia cab driver they are supporting in that situation. A really great value hotel in a great location. Close to the shopping malls, supermarkets and restaurants and bars. Only downside is that there is no beach but that can be easily accessed through a short cut from the hotel or through other access points further up the road.

Very good location, convenient parking, hotel was well kept both inside and out. All for an unbeatable price... did the trick for me. I travel for business, and I will stay here again.

I was abit skeptical about staying in the Kreole rooms after reading the online review. I was not disturbed by any music at nights and all was well. Exceptional value. Great pool. Walk to beach. Food OK, but my opinion on food should not be given any weight. Not a beach resort.

I booked this hotel because it had a "cheap" (not allowed to type the number in the review) special and it was close to Rodney Bay Marina where I wanted to be my last night on St. Lucia. I had quite a negative experience; here are some of the problems: - Terrible service from the rude lady at check in/front desk. - Broken air conditioner - Broken shower […] head - Broken water heater/no warm water - Broken computer for guest internet access - Broken refrigerator leaked water all over my food - Terrible location of my room... back of the property by an alley with a ghetto bar across the street that had locals doing karaoke until 2am so loud I could not hear the tv or sleep. Poor and rude customer service said they can't do anything about it, when I would expect them to say they can switch my rooms (it's low season almost the entire place is empty) away from the back alley/loud bar, or even say they can call the bar and have the turn down the music considering it's 2am and they're right by a "decent" hotel. Some hotels in Rodney Bay are right on the beach. The Coco Palm isn't, but it's only a minute's walk away (if you use the little path at the south of the beach) or five minutes' walk if you cross over next to the police station. It is, however, closer to the restaurants, and bars, and the mall and grocery stores, so if you're willing to leave your hotel […] and explore a bit, then it's worth not being right on the beach. The layout is very nice with a big pool (with chairs and umbrellas) and poolside bar. I booked the cheapest room possible and it's probably pretty standard for the area, but still very nice and clean. I stayed at coco palm with my wife and we both loved it ,we will be back in st Lucia for the jazz festival an will stay now where else,i love it

This hotel is in the heart of Rodney bay where restaurants and bars are within walking distance. Don't bother book the swim up pool room because the pool isn't a private one.

I had a great time the Bar staff were very bubbly and knew exactly how to make you feel welcome . I would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone .

Hotels don't always live up to expectations, but this is NOT true of Coco Palm! I spent one of the BEST weeks of my life here. Drinking coffee with my feet in the pool of our swim up room was heavenly! Eating at their first rate restaurant was divine (tip for foodies-you will thoroughly enjoy yourself). The staff was MORE than accommodating, from the […] concierge, to the women taking care of our rooms, to the bartenders and waitresses at the hotel. coco palm was a lot nicer than I expected. The room was very cozy and clean with a very comfortable bed. The price was reasonnable.

i had a great stay at the coco palm...my room was always kept clean ...the area was absolutely perfect and i did not have to go far for a good outing...the staff was very kind and helpful...only issue was one of the female securities who was very rude and always had an attitude...

Having stayed at the hotel since its inception, I can honestly say it's like going home every time! However like home there are some things that get overlooked or just put on the back burner. Therefore; a little more empathis put on maintenance can easily return it to all it 's glory! Never-the-less we have not given up on you yet!

From check-in to check-out I felt completely welcomed and very much at home. The entire staff was pleasant, polite and accommodating. This hotel is great when you are staying in the original part of the property, I have stayed there a few times now, but on this occasion my daughter booked my stay for me not knowing the Kreole rooms were not part of the original building but a smaller hotel next door that was aquired by Coco Palm. Unfortunately, the rooms are not quite to the same […] standard although not terrible, they are much smaller and the bathrooms are not nearly as nice. However they are good very for money, but perhaps to close to the noise of the clubs and bars. For this reason I thought it was worth paying a little more an upgraded. Hotel staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, helpful too! The car battery died and security guard an electrician were so happy to help us get started again, a lot of St Lucian service staff could learn from the staff in this hotel! Restaurant and bar are great too! One compliant, chef puts too much cheese in his omlettes, go a bit easier on the cheese chef, my plate was swimming! My stay here was horrible. The room we received backed up to the main PARTY street. I was directly next door to a bar that blared there music all night. It was almost as if the band was in the room. There were swarms of locals right outside my window. It was very uncomfortable. Also when I asked to be moved they told me my only option is to upgrade. […] They wanted me to pay more money to be able to sleep. NOT OK! Check in was not smooth. We did show 20 minutes early. The women at the desks were frazzled and asked us to take a walk. We came back 40 minutes later. Still not ready. They bought us a drink, then we got in our room an hour later. Nice room, but clanging pipes all night. Also housekeeping were very loud in the halls all day. Bartenders were not very […] hospitable. We recomend this hotel 100%. We stayed there for our first 2 days of our Honeymoon and from the day I made the reservation to the day we left we were happy. Wendy was great with getting us everything we requested even down to a request for a yellow room. I was happy with our car rental, our room was clean and we had a bottle of wine and congratualtion […] banner with petals on the bed along with a swan that was made out of towels. The bartender Kurt was the most amazing, frindliest bartender we have ever met and he really made us feel very welcome. You must have the pumped up chicken wings and also the St Lucian breakfast. We will definately return to this hotel. Rodney Bay is beautiful and everything is within walking distance of the hotel Lisateave

We enjoyed our stay here. We had a poolview room. Positives : Personable staff, large room, nicely furnished, Excellent bar/restaurant on premises, nice pool, fun Friday night party. Excellent area, 20 restaurants around, casino, 5 min walk to beach. Needs Improvement - need to upgrade mattress, safes and TV's. Would suggest this area over Soufriere, […] which looked very poor, Marigot Bay area is lovely but has little to do and only about 5 restaurants. We had originally booked a car, but cancelled it, did not feel comfortable driving those roads. The airport only has two gates, no need to be there 2 hours ahead. Lisateave

Overall, we were pleased with Coco Palm. If you aren't going to book a hotel right on the beach, this is the best pick of places in town. Restaraunts, bars, a grocery store, a casino, and a basic mall are all surrounding the hotel. The beach was easily accessible, and the pool was definitely better than most in-town hotels. The hotel is very safe. So […] secure, in fact, that it was impossible to sneak another person in without paying extra person charges. The extra person charges doubled our room cost, but I suppose that's to be expected. There wasn't much to complain about with Coco Palm, but I would note to not rely on concierge for anything. They weren't rude, but they weren't helpful either. You will be on your own when it comes to choosing plans or entertainment around town. For the money, Coco Palm was cute, clean and safe. I have to say I really enjoyed this hotel. They try very hard to make you happy and the rooms are really nice. The need a little practice on how to make a fried egg when you order "over easy" but that is no big deal.

I was pleasantly surprised how great Coco Palm hotel was. After a long ride from an airport the only thing I wanted was to take a shower, get changed and get to the beach even if it meant only to see the sunset at a time. Not an hour or a day later, but right away. Very basic, but clean rooms. Hotel is conveniently located in the middle of the shopping center, restaurants, 5 minute walk to the beach and close to other attractions such as horseback riding (strongly suggest to look for Bano at the Island adventures, since this guy really takes good care of his horses), Pigeon Island, beach, some nature trails, zip lines (about 30 min away), main city Castries and its shopping market which is a must to explore. Hotel has a nice pool that my boyfriend and I spent some evening at. And if you need to grab something to eat, the restaurant is right there just 30 sec away from the pool :) You want a drink? Right there. Crave for a freshly squezed juice? Right there for you. We rented a car so transportation was not a problem for us, but if you need a taxi, it is just a minute walk from the hotel. The food marked it 2 min away and a guy selling fresh coconuts, it about 2 min 30 sec away :) Overall, I am very pleased with a stay at the Coco Palm. And it is well affordable!!!! Lisateave

The Good: Very clean, very comfortable, and very fast internet. Interesting array of different electrical outlets to meet most of the world's adapters -- including the US, of course, though I think it was 220v. My Hotels.com price was fantastic for this property! The Less Good: Rodney Bay/Gros Ilet is in the very far north of the island -- at the opposite […] end from the larger International Airport. Taxi will cost about US$80 one way. Renting a car is cheaper if you are comfortable with left side of the road driving. The smaller Castries airport is US$20 each way to the Coco Palm. Lisateave

I stayed two weekends, before and after a training session. Both times I requested a king and got two doubles. Both rooms were in a very noisy area, next to an outside karaoke bar open well into the morning. However, the staff was great, the location was great, and I will likely stay again.

Great hotel for business travelers. Wi-fi throughout the hotel, good restaurant and bar on the premises. Service for breakfast could have been a bit quicker the first morning, but was much improved the second morning. Rooms were clean and quiet, and beds were very comfortable. I hope to stay there again.

This was easily the best holiday I could ever have asked for. Everyone at the hotel was lovely, so friendly and an absolutely joy to come down and see in the morning. For the price, I honestly could not see why anyone would want to stay anywhere else because it is honestly a truly lovely hotel. I would love to go back to St Lucia and if we were to, […] there would be no doubt in my mind about staying at the Coco Palm. It is a little noisy at night with the music bars nearby but not so noisy as to not be able to get to sleep. They also put on some brilliant jazz music at night time for entertainment. Myself and my boyfriend visited a few of the other hotels in the area when picking up people for tours and honestly believed that our hotel was the nicest, friendliest, cleanest and best value for money. I really hope to come here again soon! A note of warning if you are travelling to St Lucia - ONLY TAKE EC DOLLARS. Although they say they also take US dollars (which they do) they definately prefer EC and you get a much better deal rather than just a making up of the amount you will pay! Lisateave

Hotel was well worth the price. Staff was friendly and the pool was beautiful. Restaurant was a little pricey but the hotel was surrounded by shops and restaurants, so we were not limited in choices. Would stay there again.

The hotel is very clean, housekeeping is on the ball! The restaurant staff is really pleasant also. We had a shaky start with our initial front desk guy, he wasn't too pleasant but everyone after him was excellent. The location is near to almost everything you could need while your there in beautiful St. Lucia! Also, it would be great if they break […] down the glass wall and concrete bench in the bathroom and leave it just like that if you want to promote them as wheelchair accessible.
