Parkview Hotel - Siracusa

I was very inconvenienced by the hotel elevators being broken during my stay. I had to make multiple trips per day up to the 5th floor, often carrying heavy luggage. Otherwise, the room was very nice and the hotel is in a convenient location.

This hotel is very comfortable and conveniently located. We were warmly welcomed at the front desk and staff were very helpful with local information. Check-in was quick and efficient. A heritage hotel, the lobby is comfortable with a number of free internet terminals. Our room was very spacious, clean, with a large bathroom and terrific shower. The […] king-size bed was extremely comfortable and there was a wide variety of television channels on the big screen TV. The room had free and reliable WiFi. With ample free parking, it is close to the university and a safe six block walk to the Armoury District. The Bistro attached to the hotel offers for sale in the morning tasty breakfast sandwiches and good coffee. They have a limited but good beer and wine menu for an evening drink. Our only complaint was the elevators. One is broken and the other occasionally slow to respond. But given the hotel is only six stories high, this is a very minor complaint. ...the rooms were not as nice as pictures online led me to believe. My first room had a rattling window, and when I complained, the front desk clerk moved me into a bigger room. Friendly service all-around, but the rooms themselves were just old and kinda dumpy. Also, I think the first floor had college students residing there, which felt a bit weird... […] kind of dorm-like. Conveniently located near Syracuse University -- in walking distance if it's not too cold and snowy outside. But overall, nothing to write home about. I guess an okay place if you just need somewhere to crash. Lisateave

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 2 nights and couldn't have been happier. As a vegan, the location was perfect for me, being 2 doors away from a great little vegan restaurant (Strong Hearts Cafe) that is open late that satisfied my omnivorous mate as well. The view from our room was nice, the room was very clean and appeared to have been recently […] renovated. The elevators are old fashioned, but in good working condition. We were very pleased with our stay and definitely plan to go to the Parkview again when we return to Syracuse. Lisateave

Both days we were in the hotel, 1 of the 2 elevators was broken. The 2nd day of our stay both elevators were broken and there wasnt a sign that it was broke. We stood at the elevator for a good 5 min before a maid told us it was broken. Other then this minor problem, it was a pretty nice stay.

The hotel is not as good as advertised. Whiel the staff was excellent, the hotel itself was horrible. The elevator would not come up to the 4th floor for at least ten minutes. The rooms have AC/Heat window units, Stayed here in February, cold night, the unit gave off such dry air that I could not sleep had to shutt off the unit, then the temperature […] in the room dropped. Slow internet service. The hotel also serves as a dorm, there were signs on the first floor posted for Resdient RAs, felt as though I was back in college for my freshman year. Great Cafe on premises. Attractively-decorated, spacious, and immaculate rooms are the pluses. Paper-thin (or metal?) walls and an elevator that can take nearly 10 minutes to arrive are the minuses. The stairs are an option for avoiding the elevator, but the acoustics are a REAL problem. Hall and stairway noise carries into guest rooms at a truly disruptive level.

The staff were fantastic and the overall feel of the hotel is nice (cafe is super nice for a hotel cafe). The room itself was only ok - bed was great, biggest king I have ever seen, bathroom full of character, great, reminded me of San Fran hotels. The rest of the room, however, lacked any character at all. While there were nice features (fridge, full […] length mirror, full shelf for coffee maker rather than shoved in a tiny space on a desk) there was very little in the room to give it any life - furniture reminded me of the furniture I had as a small child. It was in good shape but felt old and tired. Very little on the walls or added by drapes, wallpaper, etc. The worst feature was the heater - an old, loud wall heater that seemed to always blow cool air, and started up over and over again in the night waking me up every time. Then once the heater turned off, there was a loud dripping sound that followed it for a few minutes. Overall, we got a great last minute deal so the hotel was perfectly fine for our needs, and the bed was comfortable. But if you are looking for a romantic hotel at a higher price, I'm not sure this is it. Lisateave

Not great... it was close to downtown and had everything I needed. A solid place to stay if you're not looking for frills.

This grand old hotel with beautiful ironwork and decor and a fireplace in the lobby is an excellent place to stay. There were computers, wifi and a printer for guest use. The staff was warm, friendly and helped with every detail. My son was in a nearby hospital for ca surgery. They made such a difficult time easier with directions and caring attitudes. […] I was impressed with the cleanliness and the quietness. The only negatives: The pedestal sinks had no place for cosmetics, no towel ring at the sink, and when we switched from a king to two double beds so my family could come and join us, the beds were not as comfortable. However, these things would not deter us from staying there again. We enjoyed the food at the hotel coffee shop and I'd highly recommend Franco's for great pizza, salad and cheesecake. The restaurant in the hotel next door also had a wonderful breakfast buffet. We added another night with no problem. The lady at hotels.com did a great job in helping us find this hotel. Lisateave

The stay was excellent, however, if your goal is to get away from the kids, this may not be the place for you. What you won't find out until you're there is the hotel has converted the first 3 floors as dorm rooms for Syracuse University students. Although they were no problem to me, there are those who may not want to ride the elevators with a group […] of teenagers. Staff was courteous and professional. I'm a little confused as to what events they offer shuttle service to the Carrier Dome for, but then again, so was the staff :) By the way, the coffee at the cafe downstairs is probably the best I've had! After a long ride it would have been nice to be greeted with a friendly face. The guy at the front desk was just vanilla.. he just said nothing.. took my credit card and told me nothing about the hotel or local area. I asked if my room included breakfast and said no and pointed me to the restaurant next door. We opted to eat at the college. ...in any […] case the hotel was clean, room was huge, and very pretty. One comment I feel like when I use hotel.com I am put right next to the elevator. Thankfully the night was peaceful and was a comfy stay. All said, would stay again for convenience. At first I was kind of worried because it is an old hotel, but I was pleasently surprised when I entered my room. A lot more space than an expensive hotel, really nice and clean. It has a small café with good food and the staff was really attentive. I would suggest that they learned a bit more on their surroundings, like for example they should know […] how the Centro system works. The downside is that it is kind of far from SU and Downtown and you would either need to rent a car, catch a taxi or use the Centro (bus), walking is not out of the question If your going to the University. The Parkview was a great place for us to stop in Syracuse. Our room was spacious with a flat screen TV on the wall (nice, since it doesn't eat up the surface space on the dresser) The room itself could use a comfy chair with a table and light to read by-there is plenty of room for it! (I asked at the front desk if they had just redone the rooms and […] had not had a chance to get the furniture in-nope, just large rooms! They look a little empty) A convenient coffee/wine bar next door, and a very nice lounge, and free wifi-would stay again Lisateave

A mature hotel that provided all that was expected.

Good location,very clean and comfortable. The room was very big, comfortable bed and a very helpful front desk. Will stay again

Really enjoyed the hotel. My room came with a kitchenette too. Very comfortable bed, I brought my pillow with me as I can be a little particular - didn't need it, the bed & pillow were that comfy. Will definately consider staying there again, usually have an annual trip to the Carousel Mall and the huge shopping there. Only negative was the front desk […] guy wasn't good at recommending a good place to eat. I suggest driving the dozen or so blocks to North Salina St, and picking anything in the area. Nice clean hotel room but a good walking distance from main area of city. Stayed here for one night and was perfect for us,

I stay 2 days and they never clean the room. I missed my GPS and called 2 days on a road to see if they found it and nobody answer the phone!!! Very bad service!! YPV

For a one night spur of the moment stay - lovely. The front desk attendant was extremely polite and helpful - extra towels arrived immediately and he gave us good advice re. not walking to Armory Square. The bed was comfortable, the decor was lovely, and it was quiet. The bathroom waslarge, but kind of awkward - no counter to put toiletries on and no […] towel bar near sink. We weren't there long enough to use the coffee/wine bar or enjoy the lovely lobby. Lisateave

Convenient location and good services for the price. The only problem is the air-conditioner is a bit loud, but otherwise I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was clean and quiet. Hotel staff was helpfull with directions and places to eat. I would recommend if going to hot spots like Armory square, to take your car and get good directions because we took a wrong turn and ended up in a rather "shady" part of town. If looking for a place to eat, and have a yen for Italian, we ate at Pastabilities. […] The food was phenominal, staff was super nice, portions were huge and prices were more than reasonable. Finding a place for breakfast near the hotel was another story. The attached establishment didn't have much to offer than toast and bagels and coffee, so we checked out and went looking for a place with air conditioning and a kitchen. Lisateave

Very clean bright large rooms in a nicely modernized hotel. The attached cafe Stephano's is an ideal place for breakfast in the morning.

I loved the free, secure parking. The rooms were clean and rather large. The decor is very old fashioned, but it fit in with the theme of the place. The staff wear older styled hotel staff uniforms that you really don't see any more. It was quaint.

Excellent value for the money!! Hotel was very convenient to the theater district of Syracuse and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great stay!

It was a pleasant stay. The room was very clean and cozy and the staff really helpful. For the price and comfort I would definately recommend this hotel.

Really nice hotel, enjoyed our stay!

We very much enjoyed are stay at the Parkview. We are planning to return next year!! It's very clean, and queit and was very spacious! The staff was very friendly, was very helpful giving directions around the area!!

This little hotel is a great find. Walking distance to downtown, syracuse u., armory square. Hotel personnel were great, the restaurant food was delish. I would definitely return.

Very nice, clean, comfortable hotel. Not very handy to shopping or restaurants.

Wow, the room was so large! Clean, comfortable stay. No view from our room, but it was perfectly nice for a quick overnight to drop off a student as SU. Neighborhood was fine, free parking ample. I would recommend for a future stay.

The hotel was nice and in a great location, but our room (113) had a very strong body odor smell. We called the front desk and asked if they could do anything, and they said they would try. We went out for the night and when returned (late that night) the room still smelled. Our room also had no shower curtain upon check in. I asked about this when […] I reported the odor, and was told it would be taken care of. It was not, and I had to call again the next morning to get one, when it arrived I had to put up myself. I also needed an iron and ironing board, when I called the front desk they said it should be in the closet, it wasn’t, so they said they would send up another, an hour later someone came to our room with an iron (no ironing board) that when I tried to use it didn’t work. I thought the Park View Hotel in downtown Syracuse was a bargain for the money I paid. The hotel's location being right-off Interstate- 81 is convenient, and the price I paid for the hotel was a bargain compared to other hotels in the Syracuse Area. My only complaint about the hotel was the lack of a front passenger drop-off feature, common amongst […] similar quality hotels in the area. Overall I would recommend the hotel for your stay. Excellent value. Shuttle service to local restaurants was handy.

The room was spacious (unlike the rooms in many newer hotels) and very clean. The staff was extremely friendly. Convenient coffee shop/mini deli downstairs off lobby. Convenient parking behind building. Would definitely stay here again when in Syracuse.

Big rooms, efficient check in check out, good maid service, convenient location, good parking. Comfortable lobby, onsite restaurant is limited. Quiet - never heard a sound from other rooms and not much from the hallway. Will stay there again when it Syracuse.
