The staff messed up our reservation and it took over an hour to check in. The lock did not work on the front door and after an hour and half we got into our room.

The room we had at Starr Pass was very nice, the pool and exercise room were neat, clean and convinient. We hiked to the top of the mountain trail and took many beautiful pictures. My wife and daughter really enjoyed our stay as well. i would recomend this resort to anyone.

This place is for golfers only. The room was dirty and outdated. Carpet had stains and the room smelled musty.place is not well lit at night. Old tv. Beds were the worst. Sheets old and dirty. Not close to any stores or any other activity other than golf.

Loved the hotel and location but for a hotel rated so highly I thought the bathroom products and towels were at a two star motel level. The towels were not fluffy but well worn, and the bath soap smelled really bad when it was wet. We purchased our own soap for the time we were there. It would have been nice to have a few extra towels in the room as […] well. But service was great, enjoyed the dining area and bar, most employees very friendly. Lisateave

Room was nice, adequate and bed confortable. Probably could be updated. Hotel staff is very hard working and tries to make everything right. The hotel setting is so beautiful and the natural surroundings are refreshing. Outside our window in the mornings were mother quail with her babies, red cardinal birds, a Gila woodpecker and a group of wild havelina […] pigs with two babies. It was amazing to see all this right outside of our window, not three feet away. The grounds are great for a run and the golf course is so beautiful. The restaurant at the golf course serves amazing food and they even had live entertainment the night we were there. As a whole, the experience was great - one of the best weekend gettaways we've ever had. Lisateave

The Sealy Posturpedic mattresses are amazing.

I was very dissapointed in the staff at the hotel. I was told my room would be ready within 20 of my arrival but had to wait over an hour to get my room key. Then, when I got to my room there were about 20+ kids right outside of my room running all over in the parkinglot and sidewalks yelling and screaming. I asked very nicely for them to keep the volume […] down or head to another area of the property but that did not work. Then I made contact with one of the parents of the kids asking him to bring the noise level down to which he said he could or would not. He said he "could not keep the 23 kids from making noise" and that "I should close me room door". The door was closed, both myself and next door neighbor were frustrated with his response. I told him I didn't recall the hotel brochure saying I had to deal with 23 screaming kids right outside of my hotel room door. I then called the front desk and was told by Trisha that she would come up to my room within 2 minutes and take care of the problem. 30 minutes later she had not come up to my area so I called back to the front desk. I was told she was "busy with another guest" and would call me . . . that NEVER happened. I called another 30 minutes and was told again she was "busy" and still nothing. I then asked them to call the manager and they refused to do so saying the manager was offsite. I asked if the hotel was on fire if they could call and my question was ignored. I called again an hour later and still could get nothing accomplished with the hotel staff to address the issue of 23 screaming kids. I was told there were "several soccer teams on the property" so I found out why there were so many screaming kids but I was frustrated that the hotel staff refused to resolve my issue for over 3 hours. The noise only stopped once it got dark as I'm sure the parents didn't want the kids playing outside in the dark. That is unacceptable for a hotel to allow that kind of noise and distruption to continue. I would not go b Lisateave

We stayed at the hotel with my son's soccer team. It was a longer drive (35 minutes) than other lodging choices, but well worth the extra drive time. The staff were incredible, always offering to help us with what we needed. The grounds are well kept. We stayed in a single room studio. It was clean and we had a great view of the golf course. My family and I had an excellent stay. Beautiful views. Plus, Starr Pass Nature Preserve is right there and have tons of hiking trails. Didn't need the fitness center even though my wife and I made plans to go there. The hike was enough for us. Will be booking there again when I can. The staff was exceptionally warm and friendly.

Hidden gem. Clean, neat and perfect for business traveler.

This was a nice-enough hotel, but somehow just missed being really nice. Clean & okay for a night, but not resort level. For instance, housekeeping shined the bathroom daily, but sound & light came through under connecting doors to next room. Food & drinks at on-site restaurant tasted fine, but no breakfast or lobby coffee available. Yes there was a […] coffeemaker in room, but we just want to drink it, not make it. I would readily go again for 1-2 nights, but I would not stay for a week unless they upped the pleasure. Lisateave

While the Starr Pass Golf Suites should not be confused with JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass resort (they are separate properties), both share the same incredible neighborhood. The Golf Suites are seemingly of the timeshare formula with large multi-bedroom units with smaller, one bedroom lock-off units. I stayed at the Golf Suites only one night on a […] quick business trip. The rate was very low for the value and I have nothing but good things to say about the cleanliness of the room, customer service and other. Here again, this is not the sumptuous JW Marriott option just up the road, but in many ways just as good in terms of bang for your buck and location in the beautiful Starr Pass neighborhood. The Customer Service at Star Pass is without parallel. From check in ,housekeeping ,golf course attendants,the roving golf cart bar, and the restaurant staff extreme courtesy and willingness to go the extra mile is consistent throughout ! The casitas could use some updating , but were clean and comfortable.Very good experience.

The hotel was what we wanted. It was quiet and away from the hussle of the city. The room was quite small and clean. We arrived just before a thunder storm and watched the rain flow off the hill into a nice view of the golf course. We found the bed very comfortable. I left my room the day after I had checked in to do some things around town. When I came back I checked the drawer that I had left my clothes & laptop in & someone had gone through it, I know they had because I know exactly how I left things. I was livid!! I told the front desk the day after when I checked out. The girl went to get "a manager", she […] came out with kind of an attitude but said she was sorry that happened & took my number to have the other "manager" call me back the next day. She never did.....I will never stay at this place again & will not recommend it to anyone. There was also a hole in the wall where someone had pushed the doorknob into the drywall & the sliding glass door was broken. If you pulled it hard enough....& it did not take much, you could open it even when it was locked. Lisateave

While the room was clean and comfortable, it wasn't comparable to the quality we could have received for the same price at the J. W. Marriott just up the road. We had the second bedroom of a two bedroom suite. There was no big window to let us see the desert view, let alone a patio on which to enjoy it. It looked nice but it felt outdated but that might […] just have been the slump block walls, which to me scream 1970s. The pool and spa were enough of a distance from the room that we ended up driving there. The spa was so over-chlorinated that we couldn't stay in very long because it stung our eyes so badly. That was just by sitting in it, not putting our faces in the water. We'll skip these the next time we want a staycation and stay at the big resort instead. Lisateave

I stayed two nights at this hotel, it was a very relaxing stay with wonderful scenery! I saw plenty of desertland scap and wildlife like the pack of javalina out side my balcony. It was beautiful, the only thing this place was missing was activities, it basicly only has one restaurant and golf.

The service was the best. They called our room after we checked in to see if we needed anything - we thought that was great. Clean, comfortable room, great bed. It's near the city but far enough away that it feels like you're in the country. We used the workout room and it had a large selection of equipment. This is a beautiful location and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. It was peaceful and so much fun to see the area wildlife. I would suggest that the carpets be replaced in the rooms.

I got to the hotel at 3 p.m., and check in isnt until 4. It's my fault for not noticing that, but check out was at 10 a.m. which I thought was early!! Crummy times... I did read before I went that the walls were paper thin, and boy isn't that the truth! Unless you want to hear your neighbors full conversation at 5 a.m. about their golf day, dont st […] ay! I have to say I have been going to Tucson for quite awhile now for work. I have stayed inseveral hotels and am happy tofinally find a nice place that is not overpriced at all. I would reccommend this to anyone who needs a nice place to stay either alone or a great getaway with your significant other.

I planned to have an evening away with my husband for some time alone. Upon arriving at the Golf Suites, we were presented with a gorgeous view. After checking in, we drove to our suite and was pleasantly surprised with the size of the room; it was spacious, with a large bathroom (small tub; calcium caroded shower head). Enjoyed a delicous dinner at […] the Catalina BBQ on-site. After an enjoyable evening, we returned to retire for the night. The bed was like a wood plank and the pillows seemed they'd been there for a decade; flat as the bed. It was a big dissappointment after such a great evening to have such a lousy night of rest. This locale is like a teaser for the resort...close but no cigar. You can see the resort, even eat there, but when you say you are at the Golf Suites, there is a distinct look you receive as though you are a second class citizen. Even the on-site restaurant is owned by the resort so you can't charge your meals to your room. The rooms are nice but the […] walls are paper thin so we knew all about our neighbors even though we had no desire to hear their every word. We were told they have instituted a "quiet time." to deal with the problem. The rest of the time, just turn up your TV. On our reservation, we specified a king-size bed but were put in a room with two double beds and told that "king size beds are on a first come, first served basis. " We finally were moved into a room with a king size bed but had to go back to the front and start our registration over with different key cards, etc. Lisateave

I have very mixed feelings about Starr Pass. It couldn't be in a more beautiful area of Tucson, but finding it is silly hard due to poor signage (and confusing name), the rooms themselves are almost an embarrassment, and the maintenance was poor. Let’s start with the rooms. Small, poorly furnished, old-fashioned TV, uncomfortable bed, no Wi-Fi, but […] in a stunning setting. The grounds themselves are lovely with wildlife everywhere – including a pair of huge javalinas, but my neighbor across the road was outside at night shooting his pellet gun at these “varmints” because he found them to be a nuisance. After a tough day of golf, I wanted to take a nice warm Jacuzzi – but the Jacuzzi was out of service – at a resort! As for finding it, they need to be consistent with their signage and name. They refer to themselves as Starr Pass Resort, but the signage directs you to Shell Resorts. Make up your minds! For the rate I paid, over-priced and under performed! Lisateave

Note that the actual signage to turn left into the resort say "Shell Golf Suites"; you would never find it if you are looking for "Starr Pass Golf Suites"! You check in at the Golf Club House. We had a Standard room, which was the studio side of a one-level casita, came with a full fridge and microwave and a few dishes. Enough to make a cereal breakfast […] if you stop at the supermarket (Albertsons is 10 mins away). The bed was a thick foam, extremely comfortable. Internet service is wired, not wireless, but worked well. The internet cable was on the night stand so we had to move the table from the other side of the room so we could check email comfortably on our laptop and get a little work done. Quiet location, dark starry night skies, and well worth the few mile drive from the freeway. Watch out for wildlife (quail especially) on the drive during the day, especially around the hotel. The hotel's restaurant is BBQ; we had a couple of nice dinners there but they don't do a full breakfast. (At the bottom of the Starr Pass road by the freeway there is a country kitchen with a buffet breakfast that was ok.) Would definitely stay again, especially now that we know how to find it in the dark!! Lisateave

I could see how some people say the walls are thin, I heard my neighbor a couple of times, but hey it IS a hotel and when can you NOT hear your neighbors ever? I thought it was a terrific value and proximity to Marriott and use of their facilities was fantastic.

Beautiful location, although we arrived after sunset, so very difficult to find room as room are set in blocks like a holiday complex and as set in remote area its very dark as no light pollution from city, but beautiful location in daylight! room was nice, with microwave, toaster, plates and cutlery fridge, only drawback was room have an adjoining […] door and walls are paper thin, could hear EVERTHING guests in next room did and said!!!! o privacy, when next door are up at 4.30 am whistling!! ist very annoying!! We stayed in a Casita with two beds. Plenty of room and a great price. Less than 30 min ride to the Pima Air Museum or to the Titan Missle base...both very worthwhile visits.

This hotel reminded me of staying at a camp or at someones spare bedroom. The room was clean but bathroom had a strange odor. The walls are very thin and the guests next door had the TV up very loud. The rate was good for the area but I would think twice about staying here again.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff friendly and efficent. Our one bedroom suite was roomy, clean and the kitchen clean and well equpped. There was both a tub and shower in the large bathroom, and a balcony off of the living room where you could sit in the evenings. The large pool could have been kept cleaner; it need to have the leaves and twigs […] which blew in skimmed off more often. The restaurant and lounge are very nice and have great food and service. We also stayed an extra night, and the hotel honored the fantastic rate that we had been given through Hotels.com. I left my cell phone charger in my room when I left and the front desk staff was prompt about returning it to me when I called about it, and they did so at regular first class mail, not the Fed Ex rate they first mentioned that they would be charging me. We were very happy with our stay at Starr Pass Golf Suites. It was perfect for our needs and it was great having a kitchen room for a few dollars more. I don't feel the noise from the other rooms was any worse than other hotels. Customer service was the best I've had at a hotel in quite awhile and I've stayed at quite a few recently. The one negative […] was not only did I receive a charge from Hotels.com for my stay (which was then "paid in full" according to the hotel), but I received nightly charges that I noticed once I got home. Starr Pass Golf Suites stated that this was a hold to verify that the funds were in the account for the nightly room charge, but if this was paid in full in the first place through Hotels.com there is no reason and I haven't had this happen with other hotels I've booked through Hotels.com. We returned several days ago and are still waiting for the funds to be returned into our account which Starr Pass reported was now up to our bank to process. This would be something to consider on future trips as we will be returning to the area frequently. Lisateave

At check in, we could not get into our room. The staff did not have a master key so had to go in from the neighboring room, disturbing those guests. Once in the room, in the middle of the nigh the smoke detector went off intermittently. We reported the problem to the front desk in the morning then left for our daily activities. That night, we received […] a call from maintenance at 3am regarding the detector going off. Apparently they had received a complaint from a neighboring room on it as well. From the door/key problems, the smoke detector problems, and getting calls in the middle of the night... we were lucky to not be in the room very often. Lisateave

This hotel is perfect if you want to stay in the Starr Pass area but don't want to pay the JW Marriott prices. Plus, the beds are very comfortable!

Check in was easy but signage to find front desk was a little tricky, room as clean and the scenery all around was great. Beds very comfortable. Easy to get around and do things in town not hard to find places to shop or eat.

The Resort was well-maintained but a little out-dated on the inside: dish & glass sets were missing pieces, silverware was missing pieces, cabinets were old.

Very nice grounds and helpful, friendly service, but there was a door between our room and the next and you could hear everything the other room was doing. They didn't go to bed until 11:30. So they really need to rectify that situation or just commit to seperating units period in some areas and leaving them open in others. Also we had originally been […] sent to a double instead of a king. The rooms are exactly the same...after out nighthawk neighboor we wished we had stayed in the double where no one seemed to be next door. The king bed turned out to be one of those foam beds. It was very stiff. Great linens though the top cover could be laudered better. Otherwise it's gorgeous resort and the sale price we got it at was still worth it for the views, HOT shower and nice southwest decor. Lisateave

Simply put...there are much better places to stay for less. No continental breakfast, not even coffee! Uncomfortable beds, uncomfortable pillows, filthy carpet,dusty. Restaurant is expensive.

This is a great property, just south of downtown, beautiful surroundings, lap pool, quiet, except for one thing - if you are staying in a single room, it is attached to a larger suite by a connecting door (kept locked, unless your party has the whole unit) - and it's like being in someone else's spare bedroom since the walls are so thin! Every noise, […] talk, cooking odor, glassware clinking, TV sound, come through loud and clear - so we had to keep our TV or our bathroom fan on to mask our conversation and maintain some privacy. Luckily the people next door (owners?) were an older couple and they went to bed early so we all kept the TV to a minimum and the conversations muted. Ideal if you are a family and rent the whole thing. Lisateave
