We had a lovely stay at the Amethyst! The Breakfasts were better than anything you could purchase. Staff was super friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at the Amethyst Inn. Loved the antique furniture, the detailed woodwork and the building design. The breakfasts were the best we've ever had. We had to leave on an early ferry and they even packed us a breakfast to take with us. I would definitely recommend this B&B.

Very disappointed with the service! My husband and I have enjoyed repeated stays at many beautiful B+B's in downtown Victoria but not here. There was a bit of a language barrier and no warmth and hospitality that B+B's are know for. Very cool reception upon arrival. We were handed a paper to fill out, then up 3 flights of stairs to the attic handed […] keys and left without a word. Later I went down 3 flights of stairs to ask for a bar of soap. The owner had a hard time understanding me. She walked to a closet and handed me a tiny bar of soap and said nothing, just a thank you from me. Our room was small but had a nice jetted tub + no shower facilities + the bed was a bit hard. With only 2 other couples at the Inn, we were all housed on the attic leve when there were 10 other large rooms on lower levels. B+B breakfasts are worth raving about but this not. The fruit + yogurt parfait was good, but the muffins were gummy + stuck to the wrapper. They were serving omelet with asparagus + raw tuna + salmon on top! We requested no raw fish and were offered ham instead. It came with a paper thin slice of ham (lunch meat) placed on top. There was no cheese or flavour and it was overcooked being firm and dry. We packed up and left without a goodbye or thanks from anyone. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! Lisateave

Very satisfying in a very beautiful house with excellent service. Fine detail and very clean. Exquisite breakfast all inclusive in a very excellent setting. No air conditioning in room but not a problem for the time of year of our visit. Would love to return.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this cosy little B&B Inn. For the price we paid, everything exceeded our expectation. The room is spotless and everything from the Wi-FI to the Jacuzzi all work without a hitch. The Innkeeper and her assistant are friendly and very helpful. We had a wonderful seafood dinner recommended by them at the near by Marina. Staff was welcoming upon our arrival and for accommodating to requests. Breakfasts were excellent (especially the apricot scones). The older style house had beautiful grounds and our garden room was pleasant, including a large tub for two, television, fridge and free (though somewhat sporadic) wireless Internet). For our last day, we had to leave before […] breakfast was scheduled to be served. We requested a boxed breakfast for our journey. Before going to bed the night before our departure, a delicious breakfast was delivered and placed in our fridge for us. All staff was very accomodating - including feeding us after breakfast hours, keeping an anniversary cake in the fridge for us, and showing us other rooms that were not occupied. A beautifully refurbished trip back in time! Some staff had problems understanding some questions. Just small things, ie. { "Could I have a cup of decaffinated coffee please"? Answer .. We don't have any. Question, " You had decaffinated coffee yesterday morning" Answer ... Oh. Later the decafe was found. } This staff member seemed more interested in where people were from than in looking after […] the tables. A minor point. I guess I'm miserable without morning coffee!! Lack of toilet paper in the room. I did get some when I asked for it. Probably my fault. My wife & I are 'pushing 70'. There was no shower in the room, just a tub. Stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon in the Carriage House, next to the main building - very private. Beautiful stained-glass window above the bed. The complementary breakfasts were superb: each started with a tasty fruit cup - fresh fruit and berries, yoghurt, granola, and a sprig of mint; then a still-warm homemade muffin or scone; followed by […] an omelet or eggs benedict, deliciously prepared (eg, the omelet had cheese, sauce, fresh arparagus inside, smoked salmon on top). The staff was very courteous and helpful - made good suggestions for things to do, booked excursions, lent us a blanket to watch the fireworks at the Butchart gardens, etc. The main building is gorgeous and wonderfully restored/maintained. It was very comfortable and staff was awesome. Breakfast simply lovely. Well located for number 11 bus into Victoria in a dash. Quality of service was best I've had anywhere.

It's a nice B+B. Good breakfast, nice rooms and in a nice neighborhood. But if you are interested in a conversation with the owners, go somewhere else as their English is not very good.

Elegantly restored Victorian with gorgeous rooms in the Victorian style. Our room was beautifully decorated with very comfortable queen bed and period furniture. Full breakfast was excellent and well presented - hosts were gracious and very helpful. Easy 10 minute access to Victoria Inner Harbor via car or bus. Located at the edge of Regents Park with […] many lovely homes and gardens. The only thing that would have made it better would be a location walkable to the harbor, but that would have been a much higher cost. We were very pleased with our choice - excellent value. the breakfasts were uncomfortable. they didnt set enough tables so we had to walk into an awkward situation and sit at a table with people we didn't know. we were on a honeymoon so we would have preferred our own table. in my room i could hear the people beside us clear as day. another thing you dont want on your honeymoon.on the last night we wanted […] to watch movies together, but the dvd player was broken we had one person in there who didnt know what she was doing she brought someone else in he didnt know what he was doing, then they called someone who couldnt really help them, all speaking a language we didnt understand. we finally just asked them to leave. I just spent 5 nights at the Amethyst and I had a great time. This house really feels like being in a museum. Beyond being in a beautiful location, what differentiate this B&B from others is the superb customer service. The staff is always attentive, trying to make your stay more enjoyable. The Amethyst is a really lovely place to stay, with its old fashioned atmosphere. It would be perfect if not for its location. It’s slightly far from downtown Victoria, but if you are willing to walk for 20 minutes - not much in the end - you can get there by feet. It was a lovely departure from a standard chain hotel. the rooms were a lovely peak in to era long gone, with all the amenities of the present. The host was lovely and extremely helpful. The Amethyst is an old wooden building with a wonderful period interior: wood panelling, fantastic double staircase, large bedrooms, furniture in keeping with the decor. The owners obviously have a love affair with this wonderful building. Nice garden to sit in in good weather. Only down side was that it was quite a way out of the centre of Victoria, but the bus stopped right outside and was cheap and frequent. I absolutely loved my stay at the Amethyst Inn. It was the first time I was traveling solo and everything about the inn gave me a sense of comfort. Wonderful room. wonderful jacuzzi soaking tub, the best breakfast ever, and the the owners and family are amazingly kind. I felt so well taken care of by everything they did. We thoroughly enjoyed the spotless room and its full bath that included a hand held shower. The room featured a comfortable king canopy bed and beautiful antique pieces. We also enjoyed the room’s modern amenities such as a 50” flat screen TV, refrigerator, and free WiFi. We especially enjoyed the following: the Victorian character of the house, the […] grand sitting room as a common area, and the free parking within a gated secure area. The Inn’s location was ideal and provided a short 5 minute drive to Victoria’s waterfront area and to our surprise was also a great launch point for a stroll. We took a delightful short walking tour from the Inn through the upscale Regents Park neighborhood and enjoyed viewing the picturesque homes and grounds of the Lt Governor’s mansion as well as visiting the Craigdarroch castle. The Inn served two different and delicious breakfasts. The hosts are a family that provided warm and gracious hospitality, especially their daughter. They provided many valuable recommendations to enrich our visit. We fully enjoyed the Amethyst Inn and would stay there again. Lisateave

I felt I was welcomed as if I were a friend at the Amethyst Inn at Regents Park. My hosts were friendly, always willing to help/ give directions or leave me to myself when I wanted that. We stayed five nights in the upstairs room in the carriage house and enjoyed our stay very much. Shelley and Abel were great hosts and provided lots of useful information about the area. The location suited us because we only spent one full day in downtown Victoria, and Craigdarroch Castle and the art gallery are nearby. Also, there is a frequent bus […] service into downtown from outside the inn. We liked the breakfasts very much, something different each day prepared to a high standard. We spent our last evening watching an hilarious farce at the Langham Court Theatre which is only a few minutes away. Lisateave

The hype was true, Amethyst Inn was truly a most satisfying bed and breakfast experience. The service was sincere and spot-on, the breakfast was three courses of YUM with hot beverages served on fine china, the hotel common areas of the hotel were sparkling clean even for a 125 year old house, our room was nice with a beautiful bathroom with a custom […] bathtub, and yes they have free Wi-Fi internet. Ein spannendes und liebevoll eingerichtetes Hotel in britischem Stil. Dieses Hotel verbindet Stil mit Freundlichkeit und ist eine Oase in Victoria. Etwas ausserhalb, jedoch dennoch gut erreichbar zum Zentrum, gelegen. Der Service insbesondere das Frühstück sind sehr zu empfehlen. Wir haben unseren 3tägigen Aufenthalt sehr genossen.
