Cocobay Resort - Valley Church

Very good. Room lighting too dim for my wife to make up. Had to take the lamp shades off. Lack of satellite tv in room frustrating. Coffee/Tea making facility poor. Weekly buffet poor considering the daily ala carte so good.Beach service excellent.

First of all the "setting" and the view from this hilltop is breathtaking..... it is apparent from the moment you arrive. The traditional greeting at Cocobay of warm hand towels at the desk and rum punch served on a tray...is the perfect welcome to set the tone. The individual bungalows that spot the hill, like a Caribbean Village with the varied colors […] and tin roofs.....is enchanting. The Bungalows are small but, perfect with the french doors that open to your own porch complete with hammock, lounging chairs and in some Bungalows.... a small dipping pool......all overlooking the amazing coral bay. Ours was Bungalow #4 and once in our room, a bottle of chilled champagne was delivered to us. The all inclusive aspect of this resort is well worth it. The food is quite good and all alcohol is included. There is another very popular Island restaurant on the premises but, it is completely seperate from the hotel. The beach is surrounded by a coral reef so no big waves and it makes swimming in this beautiful bluer than blue water....a pleasure. There are two pools but, the upper pool has a view you can't stop looking at from the infinity pool. The help is terrific and they do everything they can to make your stay pleasurable......Bravo to that! There are mosquitos so bring the appropriate sprays, etc. to deal with it. absolutely wonderful. the resort is fabulous and beach is beautiful...one of the nicest on the island. the huts,cabins are quaint, clean, and comfortable but rustic. had such a great stay, met wonderful people and plan to go back again to the same place next year. all the tours were expensive but worth it for the first time in antigua. will rest and […] relax next trip as the island is beautiful, people are great, and ocean is the prettiest ever. not a bad beach on the island! bring bug spray. Cocobay was great.. The service from the hotel employees and management was superb. The breakfast was pretty good and the lunch was certainly not bad either but dinner was INCREDIBLE every night. We had dinner at Sheer Rocks one night and it was also unbelievable. The staff was so incredibly friendly, and the resort and the views were gorgeous. Our vacation was so peaceful and so relaxing. The staff is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend getting a room with a pool just because it adds to the experience, although im sure it great without it too. We will definitely be back next year!

We recently got back from our honeymoon at Cocobay resort. Overall, wonderful and we highly recommend it. We too had read reviews which were less than stellar - I believe from a few years ago. It fit us perfectly - the majority of the reviews were spot on. It is not a glitzy pampering type of resort. It is a little rustic but as comfortable as we needed. […] The food was quite good, but I'm sure there is better out there, at greater cost. The beaches were perfect - very little development and not busy at all. The aura of the place is quiet and friendly, gorgeous and unaffected. We loved it. Lisateave

The Cocobay Hotel is awful. It is run down, needs complete renovation and actually, demolition and new construction would be better. The "All Inclusive" food was not good at all; it was "Fill 'em up" pasta, rice, potatoes carbs and lunches offered some sort of grilled fish. Dinners were not much better and the wine was horrible. After the 4th night […] we couldn't eat the food any longer and went out to dinner next door at Sheer Rocks. The bed was invested with fleas and no amount of fumigating cleared it up and a room change was no better. The staff was friendly but non-caring and the location was remote. There were bugs in all the rooms, the towels were small and cheap and grounds were overgrown. We were ready to go home after a few days. We have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and this was easily the worst. Don't waste your money. Lisateave

I loved the hotel because I just wanted to relax and enjoy the island. It is one of the most beautiful views in the Caribbean from an infinity pool overlooking the crystal blue water. The service is great...friendly people. It is not a great hotel for single travelers...I was the only one there...and is more geared for couples. It is an all-inclusive […] resort, so included all meals, which I also personally don't like. I enjoy riding around the island and exploring other places, but felt I was losing money if I didn't eat lunch or dinner at the resort. Lisateave
