The property itself is older, but on first arriving it seemed clean and satisfactory for a one night stay. But, after settleing in we found that the lamp on one side of the bed did not work unless you wedged your hand behind the bed and plugged and unplugged it to turn on and off. There were holes in the towels and only one bath towl. No extra wall […] plugs for chargers, and the ice maker did not work. When we arrived at 7:00 a.m. for the advertised breakfast there was a sign on the door that they would be back at 8:00. The food was sitting out in the lobby however.with the door locked....so I guess they had met their promise of providing a continental breakfast. We had an 8:00 a.m. appointment so had to rush off to find breakfast some where else. We will not be back. Lisateave

Needs upkeep/maintenace, very aged, probably a popular place in it's younger days, but provided the basic needs.... grounds kept neat. Thai food restraunt next door good quality and ambiance. Beach cove fantastic for boogie boarding, exploring and relaxing. Walking distance to State Park and Beach. 5 minute drive into town.

We stayed here just for overnight, passing through town, this hotel is rustic, so don't expect a 5 star, it is very peace place, would have loved to stay longer because of its peaceful location and the walk to the beach is niece as well. If you want a peaceful stay and don't mind the dusty corners then this place is for you :)

This room was not at all what we saw in the pictures and the bed spreads did not match and were old and the pillow smelled like urine.... Could not wait to leave

Although not the most updated or fancy, this was a great little place to stay right on the coast. The grounds were beautiful and the access to its private beach was short and easy to walk. The staff were very nice. My only suggestion would be to allow dogs. We would definetely stay again.

My bed had not been changed from the previous guest, who'd obviously eaten crackers in bed, naked. The electric outlet above the washbasin was non-functional, and the switch on the light by the bed was nearly impossible to turn on. The ice machine three doors down was not working. The degrees indicated on the room's thermostat had nothing to do with […] the warmth of the room. So, some real disappointments there. On the plus side, security seemed to be quite satisfactory, the included breakfast was motel-pretty-good, the private walk down to the beach was lovely -- as was the beach -- the immediate grounds were all a-bloom (month of April), and the proximity to Ft. Bragg and the coast towns down to Mendocino was unbeatable at the price. Management is friendly but clearly overwhelmed with the job of maintaining this potentially quite good motel. Lisateave

All the hotels in that area are older. Service was good and we had a nice light breakfast daily. Many foreigners there due to booking on hotels.com and we enjoyed meeting them. Several people were there to dive for abalone and grill them with their grill on the patio. We requested a non/smoking and no pet room. Not sure there had not been pets in our […] room before but many people there had dogs, some big. They were well behaved but no way of knowing if our room had ever been used for pets. Room was clean and the Thai Restaurant right there has wonderful lemongrass soup! The location of the hotel is quiet and you have access to the beach. Probably one of the better places to stay in Ft. Bragg. Grounds do need a couple of days of good landscaping clean up to make it more appealing when you arrive. Easter morning the man at the desk showed us an egg one of his chickens had laid that day for Easter. Cool! The coastline near Ft. Bragg is breathtaking and very accessible. Lisateave

The cove is near by and pretty cool to kick it at. Also try the Thai place next door. It is some of the best Thai food I have ever had in the most random location. Disreguard all the old people in the restruant.

The place has obviously seen better days. It's clear why thi swas the cheapest hotel I could find in the Mendocino/Ft. Bragg area. Tennis courts, tho in poor state of repair. Missing a light bulb in the room, called desk w/ request, no one brought a replacement. Very sorry breakfast fare. we had stayed here yrs ago and it was a good value, now however, new owners , and it needs maintenance. We also were givin a dog friendly room and this wing is even worse got to the first room and it hadnt been changed, gave us a second room and the maid hadnt been there either food on tables and dirty beds. We said if we couldnt have a room in the […] better side even with our 2 little dogs we wanted our money back. They did give us the room and it was much better, but wont stay again. Lisateave

The first room we were given had no bath tub and the bed felt like plywood. A hotel with no bath tub? We asked for a new room. The next room was very musty. We did get used to it. The bed was a little more comfortable. We had to get used to the smell of the room every time we left and came back. It is nice to walk down to the little beach in the mornings […] and the grounds are beautiful. I think i will pay more next time and stay right on the beach down the coast. Lisateave

The hotel was fine as far as sleeping was concerned. We stayed there on a Saturday night and on Sunday morning couldn't get the continental breakfast until 8:30am (though they advertised it started at 7:30am). This was very inconvenient with 2 small hungry kiddos and the fact that we had somewhere to be at a certain time. No apology was even offered […] by the front desk guy who put out the food. So sad! The beds were hard and sheets didn't fit. The front entry light was burned out, the hanging lamp was broken as was the chair beneath it. The bathroom light burned out at inconvenient time and the toilet paper was see-through. The fridge did not work when plugged in. There was discarded underwear on the back porch. The hangers were broken and […] bottom dresser drawers wouldn't open. Hot and cold was reversed at the sink. That is probably enough said. One more thing-don't go!! Lisateave

We enjoyed our stay at Pine Beach Inn. Our rooms are large and clean, and the beds comfortable. We especially enjoyed the private beach behind the inn. The only thing we find disturbing is that while the building is supposed to be pet free (there are "no pet" signs everywhere) most guests we met had a dog with them.

Great room for motel like accomodations. Low cost compared to neighboring b&bs. Not on the main avenue of mendocino, but a short drive. Close to the beach on property. Clean.

We made the reservation while enroute to Ft. Brag. The hotel did not look as well in reality as it did in the photos. Despite having prepaid for ur stay, we elected to stay elsewhere - shades of Norman Bates.

The accommodations were fine. A visit to the private cove was great and the motel's location between Ft. Bragg and Mendocino was very convenient.

Hotel staff were very helpful. Had a partial view of the ocean and was very clean.

What a view!

We were so disappointed with this hotel. The description online did not come close to the specs of the hotel. I reserved an ocean view room and all we were able to see is grass, and a rooftop. The most disappointing part was the distance from the downtown area. The location was not well lit and if your in trouble you won't be able to use your cell because […] that area had no signal. I found this motel to be charming, clean and comfortable. I had a view of the ocean from my room and the private beach was nice. When it is high tide, you do need water shoes to get across a stream and access the part of the beach closest to the ocean. I enjoyed my stay very much and will definitely go back again.

Pine Beach Inn is conveniently located between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. It's cheap and easy to access. I didn't have time to look at all the individual facilities the hotel offered but a few not so great things I noticed were: the hot water takes forever to come out on the faucets, there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, there were dirty socks […] left on our room and there's no cellphone reception where the hotel is located. On the better side, the place is very conveniently located with plenty of parking and reasonably priced. Lisateave

This hotel had a private beach and was a short walk down to the shore. It is right between Fort Bragg and Mendocino. My only complaint is the room smelled like stale smoke. If you need a place to lay your head, not going to spend much time in the room, and don't mind out dated rooms, this is the place for you. There is a fire pit for those that are […] interested. older model hotel, reminded me to the family run hotel in the recent movie Woodstock. It was fine for a night. Had a lovely walk access area to a beach cove.

This hotel was several miles from town which wasn't expected. Also, 3 out of 4 lamps didn't work until the service man came to fix them. Host was rather abrupt when we called about it asking "if we wanted to upgrade our room" .. no just fix what was in our current room, thank you very much!

We stayed here for one night and while the bed itself was clean and comfortable, the rest of the room left much to be desired. We got a non-smoking room that reeked of smoke, there were stains on the carpet, and the bathroom just wasn't appealing. I would stay here again if I had to but I think I would try my luck with some other hotels first.

This hotel was the worse we have ever experienced. It included breakfast, but we couldn't stomach eating there. Also, pictures online were of a newer part and they put us in the older section. Never so happy to leave a place behind. I'm not leaving my name as I was ashamed to admit we stayed there.

People have commented that this is an "old" motel-type place and sure, it's probably from the 1980s - which means big rooms, drapes, carpets, sliding glass doors, flowered quilts. We thought that was just fine. The best thing was the private beach access. You can walk down a natural, un-paved path behind the building and get to the private beach which […] is really a cove with big rock outcroppings on either side and crashing waves on the sand. Why stay somewhere in Ft Bragg where you can't get to the beach? I could have spent the whole day there. Bring your own coffee maker if you want coffee in room in the morning -- but they do a simple breakfast, with juice and coffee, up in the lobby/registration office, and if you go up there you get to meet the really nice people who work there. I'd come back to this place to stay a few days in peace and quiet and read books on the beach (unless it was raining, etc.) Lisateave

Fantastic beach within a 5 mins walk with spectacular surf. Excellent Thai restaurant on site with very modest prices.

This is an older motel, hidden off the main road, about 2 miles south of town. Very near the ocean, with a semi-private beach. Our room had a balcony with a beautiful sea vista. Room was large and comfortable, reasonably clean. Breakfast was cold cereal, coffee, toast and danish. probably would stay here again.

We were not sure if the sheets had been changedfrom the last persons staying in the room. Room service was not good.

The hotel is old and dated, that being said it was fine. The rooms were large and the beds comfortable. Refrigerator and microwave in the room, etc. The grounds are fabulous, with a lovey walk down to a private cove, heavenly. The room was very big but old. Great location with a lovely private beach. There was also a fire pit you could warm up with at night. We did have a problem with hot water upon arrival( which was particularly unfortunate as we had arrived on a motorcycle and needed to warm up) . The bathroom did have a strong heater which kept me warm for 20 min while […] the situation was fixed. For the rate on a holiday weekend it was worth it. We loved the location close to the private beach.

I stayed for one night. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations for a place to eat. Our room was large and adequate but dated. There was a small patio outdoors, tennis courts and a lot of space for kids to run around and play safely. A great option for a family looking for a vacation spot for a few […] days to a week. This hotel is very quaint. The units that we stayed in were from the 1920's. Staff is nice and helpful.

The trail to the cove is just a nice little jaunt, and so lovely. The cove is just what I longed for in the way of being beautiful, secluded, and worth staying at even all day long and into the evening. The Inn needs some refurbishing but was acceptable especially considering location and the private cove which we could see from our balcony and listen […] to all night with the slider cracked. Everything was very clean though I wouldn't want a child playing on the floor, the carpet is so old. Convenient to everything being about half way between Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Our 15 year old granddaughter enjoyed the trip with us. Lisateave

Very nice and quiet motel in Fort Bragg, CA. If you are looking for a simple, but affordable, clean, and quiet place to stay - this is the one. My friends and I spent 1 night there on August 20, 2011, and all of us were deeply sutisfied with our stay. Big and cozy room, comfortable bed, charming bed linens, good and planty breakfast, quick check-in […] and check-out. I put 4 for condition since the hotel is a bit out-dated, but it doesn't matter if you need to spent a night or two. I would stay there again and would recommend it to anybody. Lisateave

This is not so much an "inn" as it is a large almost "campground resort" accommodation. It definitely does not have a motel/hotel feel as it is situated on a large property with3 separate buildings, tennis courts, picnic tables, grills, open green space and private beach access.Our room was clean and spacious even though it was dated. We loved the quiet location, away from town and the highway. The little path to the beach is short and lovely and the beach is paradise, even when it's foggy. The room has hilarious flaws that make it seem like you're on a movie set in a oddball place: 2 of the lamps had to be turned on by screwing in the lightbulb and one lamp didn't have a place nearby […] to plug in so just hung there. The bathtub dripped prominently all night. Everything seems a little old and a few years past its useful life... yet it had a certain mysterious charm. The family upstairs added to the mysterious movie set effect because you could hear their tromping throughout the night. What's going on up there? The restaurant people were sweet and you can imagine that in some bygone era people danced on the lovely dance floor and sipped cocktails at the curving bar. The Pad Thai (tofu) and Cabbage salad were great. The steamed spring rolls were uninteresting. The coconut soup was a little bland. We wouldn't send high-end honeymooners here but families will love the creek and the beach and the fact that there's nothing their kids can really wreck! A last-minute choice, a bit outdated, but funky retro. Big room, good bed, bathroom clean and adequate. Really nice grounds. Well-maintained boardwalk and paved path down to the private beach.
