Agumar Hotel - Madrid

It was very nice. Could open windows which was great, would have liked a view but not necessary because we spent very little time in our room. There was plenty of closet space, large bathroom.

It was a very nice hotel. We chose it to be close to the train station. The surrounding businesses are not too interesting and there were no restaurants on the block but we ate wherever we were sight-seeing, anyway. Great breakfast at the hotel. Triple room was plenty roomy and the bathroom was HUGE!

The A/C did not work. Old hotel with old furniture, TV, ect. overrated and overpriced.

Very nice hotel, room sufficiently spacy and well equiped both for relax and work. Location convenient, although a bit further from the center and metro stop. Amost no restaurants in the vicinity of the Hotel. Equipment and cleaniness of the hotel is very good, but I did not like the vinegar-like smell of the tovels.

Not a great atmosphere in this hotel, but extremely functional and well positioned. Main downside was that due to a late arrival it was not possible to have a meal. We had been advised that the dining room/ cafeteria closes at 10:45 that meant not that orders were taken until 10:45, but the staff were really trying to leave at that time.

The internet service is not cheap, and it only allows two computers or other devices. Also, it was often hard (or impossible) to connect to the service from our room. OTOH, the Prado and other sites are reasonably close, if you are willing to walk a little. The train station is also close. The hotel is convenient to Atocha and that's about the only plus. Property needs a facelift and interior updating. Customer services needs to be improved. The front desk and bellman service were not what we expect when staying at any hotel. Would not stay here again.

Agumar was a disappointment, I expected better! The rooms were very inefficiently soundproof, we woke up by the neighbors alarm clock. Could hear the neighbor talking, watching TV and snoring! No free WiFi, had to pay € 6/day. Besides that good location not far from central Madrid.

The only thing disappointing is the appearance of the exterior when you drive and arrive. It needs a face lift outside. The inside has been renovated and is done very nicely. My biggest complaint was that the hotel "nickel and dimed" for every little thing. Overall, however, this is a very good hotel, although I think it only deserves three stars.

The hotel was very nice but extremely hard to find. Access to the hotel is difficult because it is at the end of a very narrow street in the old section. It is within walking distance to main attractions. It was very clean and well kept. The staff was welcoming and helpful.

Excellent. Great location a few blocks from the Prado and other major museums. Reasonably priced Four star hotel. Just avoid the over priced breakfast. Walk two blocks to the train station and you can get break for one third the hotel price.Clean comfortable rooms with helpful staff.

Have stayed several years ago and I liked it very much. Still do. Found the buffet breakfast a little expensive. Particularly as the person I was travelling with would have been happy with just tea and toast. This facility was not available so she had to pay 15 Euros for very little. That is my only complaint.

Excellent location for walking to major museums and parks. Room large, clean, comfortable with many amenities. Staff friendly and helpful and most speak English. Food good but only slightly above average. Better dining opportunities exist outside the hotel. This was my second time staying at the Agumar and I will stay there in the future.

Really pleased we chose this hotel. Room was clean throughout and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom was very spacious and had a good shower, just what was needed after a day in a hot and sunny Madrid! Very impressed overall, would definitely stay here again.

The Agumar hotel is in a great location. People can walk to the principal museums, and in addition have in four blocks the Atocha station train where you can use the media velocity or the speed of AVE. In addition, you can use the metro. I suggest that the hotel can provide a metro map and a Madrid map with the principals attractions. I went to Sevilla […] and the hotel provide us with these two guides. Agumar Hotel is very clean and employs are very friendly. I believe the building need a at night a more lighting indication to advertise the hotel ( Like las Vegas. Hotel has a nice light that attract costumers). We recommend this hotel for any traveler. Lisateave

Clean and modern room, comfortable beds, good location. Three (long) blocks from the Prado, and Two blocks fro the Atocha station. We had the family interconnecting rooms. Our two sons stayed in the connected room. It worked out well and was very affordable.

We stayed twice at the Agumar - a 4-night stay, and then one night before our flight home. The first 4 nights we had a very clean room (620) with parquet floors and two twin beds that had been pushed together to make a "double". The beds tended to move around a bit, as they slid easily on the parquet. But the parquet was nice and clean, bath was clean […] and somewhat updated, and the A/C worked great! The hotel was ~5 min walk to the Atocha Renfe metro stop and ~10 min to the train station. The Aeropuerto Express bus to/from the airport stops at the train station and only cost 5 euro. Based on the cleanliness and convenience of the hotel, we booked the Agumar again for our last night, but the room we got on our last night (305) was on a different floor and different side of the hotel. It smelled noticeably smoky in the hallway - not as strong in the room and it got better once we turned on the A/C. The room had cheap carpet, so didn't seem as clean and bright as our first room. I had requested a double, but the twin beds this time were separated by a nightstand. Fortunately we were only there one night. The breakfast buffet was quite excellent - nice spread of hams, chorizo, and cheeses; hot items including fried eggs, bacon, potatoes, tortillas; breads, pastries, fruit, yogurts and cereals; juices, water, and coffee. Wi-fi also worked pretty well although it's 6 euro/24 hr period and can only be used on one device at a time. Overall, a decent, efficient, no frills stay. Lisateave

A very pleasant Hotel close to the Railwaystation and the towncenter. Rooms at the streetside can by noisy. Clean and good equiped rooms. The only thing what we missed was a cooker in the room.

Hotel was 3 star not 4. Should have included breakfast and Free Wifi. They charge 15 euro per person for BF and if you use their computer then 3 euro per hour. This is rediculous in this age. Very good place in Madrid, near the underground station of Menendez Pelayo, near the Museum of Prado and the big Park of Buen Ritiro. The room was very good and comfortable, but the breakfast is too expensive (15 euros): let's do it outside the hotel, it's better and cheaper!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Agumar Hotel. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are plentiful and tasty, with flavours from the Spanish culture. Really the lifts were tood small, usually only carrying 4 people at a time. There were 3 other tours happening when we were there and the 2nd floor lost its electricity when one […] of the tours was packing to leave. Even the Security Guard was generous enough to help us when we had problems connecting to the internet!! Overall though we thought it was great and we would be happy to stay there again, especially because of their location, restaurants nearby, and convenient metro a couple of short streets away. In appearance the hotel is a good value. The problem is the noise level. The walls lack sound proofing and you can hear your neighbor's conversations even when it's clear they are speaking on a normal voice. Everytime a door shots anywhere on the floor you can hear it as if it was your own room's door. You can hear the toilets flushing all night long, […] and the staff start cleaning early in the morning and you can hear them speaking outside and the vacum cleaners running. We were there for the Madrid Marathon and had to move out the night before because we were'nt able to sleep the three nights we were there. Lisateave
