Nice hotel lovley staff be very careful of pickpockets one was sitting in hotel reception and grabbed a bag one morning. and be very careful about breakfast charges... Express breakfast advertised for 5.50 but because I didnt request this in resturant i ended up paying 12.50e for tea(i had my own tea bag) orangejuice and 1 bread roll. we had a lovley […] lunch in the same rest 3 courses and glass of wine for 9.90e hard to understand stupit breakfast charge. Excrellent location and service

Excellent location in a quiet street, just a few block from all the action of Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas. The room was clean and comfortable, but the amenities were basic to say the least. Great location, 2 blocks from Metro...2 stops from La Rambla. I was undecided between two hotels, and though this one was less expensive it was rated higher . so I decided to give this place a try.. Hotel was modern, clean, and very reasonably priced, with convenient parking and a pool. We drove in from Provence, tired from a long day, reception was […] friendly and very helpful. And the bed - though 2 twins pushed together was very comfortable. We were very happy with our choice and would recommend and happily stay again. Not recommended. While the hotel's description promises it is in Eixample, a lovely section of Barcelona, it bordered on a somewhat seedy section of town. We booked a family room with a large bed in each room; guaranteed for late arrival. We arrived at midnight, got the last room and had to make do with one large bed and a cot. We complained, a more […] confortable small bed was installed, but were told that was all that could be done. In addition, the room layout was just plain odd. The bathroom door was framed by an opening, so even when the bathroom door was closed, anyone at the sink outside the room could see everything going on in the bathroom. The air conditioning did not work. The breakfast was meager...and worst of all for us caffeine addicted folks...there was only coffee from a machine. Try another hotel when in Barcelona. Lisateave

My only gripe with the hotel is that it appears that they turn off the air conditioning at night. During the day the unit would cool down the room but at night, after 9PM, it seemed that the unit would only produce warm air. One would think this may be a faulty unit but we stayed at this hotel in three different rooms and each room was the same.

This hotel is in the heart of the area with the highest Antoni Gaudi architecture and the gay neighborhood of Barcelona. Close to the metro and nice restaurants. I'd stay here again. Great price, great service and great area.

Very clean and comfortable hotel. Rooms spacious and had everything you need. The only points that let it down for me were that the WIFI range was weak, so I could not connect very well to the internet (kept kicking me out) but I was at the very end of the corridoor, so could just have been my room. Also, the hot water took a long time to come through […] on the shower, but once through there were no problems. Overall would thoroughly recommend this hotel especially for the price I got it for! Nice hotel and good restaurant attached for the evening. Breakfast buffet not too great and expensive if not included in your room. The other thing, if you don't book through their website, the spa is not included and costs another 10 euros per day. Otherwise a good hotel.

Nice and clean room. But the advertised High Speed Internet was absolute useless. In a 5 days stay, I never measured more than 130 K down and practically nothing up. Impossible for skypeing, and constantly falling out. The gym is “one” bench, and a few weights, so don’t bother paying the extra 5 euro daily they insist to receive. I stay in many hotels […] every year in my job as Pilot. I have never been treated as cheap as Here. I will never Return. Lisateave

We stayed in Villaroel in Dec...now I dont usually leave reviews, but have to share.... We really really REALLY enjoyed our stay. The staff were absolutely amazing.. Friendly, helpful, approachable... Seriously amazing... The room was larger than we expected, the bed was comfy...if we didnt have loads to do and see, i could have slept all day. The […] bathroom was so stylish and clean. The location is good...about a 15 min walk from plaça catalunya...which is good, because your near is all, but not having to be in it all the time. I absolutely love Barcelona everytime i visit, and next time im back i ll definetly be staying at Villaroel.. :-) Lisateave

Would recommend. About a ten minute stroll to the heart of downtown. Room super clean and comfortable. Staff helpful. The only minus was a pathetic massage.

Nice hotel with good sized rooms at a very good price. free wifi but an extra 10 euros for the fitness room which was not impressive.

Excellent price/value ratio. Quiet, close to a few good restaurants (sea food, Italian, fusion) and bars. Highly recommended if you choose to stay in Eixample. Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla is within 15 minutes' walk from the hotel.

Great hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location isn't too far from the metro station, which was a blessing as it was our first time in Barcelona. There were lots of nice bakeries and restaurants nearby. The neighbourhood was pleasant also. Reasonably priced for such a nice hotel in such a great city. Would highly recommend. Perfect hotel all around. Close to Las Ramblas close to public transportation, fast train rides to camp nou.

a bit business but ok. Jacuzzi, sauna great, hammam... a bit not enough hot, this is my only thing nonperfect

Overall, the hotel employees were very helpful and pleasant. My travel companion spent one more day/night than I did. I rained during the day and they loaned him an umbrella so he could go out an sight see.

We found the hotel in a very convenient location, 10 minutes walk from the nearest metro station Urgell(come out of the Villarroel Road exit). (Although there is a wonderful pizza/pasta restaurant out of the other exit!). We chose to have the buffet breakfast at the hotel which was very nice and reasonably priced. Whole hotel was clean, modern and well […] kept. The receptionists are helpful and speak good English. Only down side was there was no Bureau de Change and nearest one was a metro ride away. We suggest you do the bus tour of Barcelona first and then decide what you want to see especially if only there for a few days. We will definately use the hotel again when we go back. Lisateave

We had a fantastic stay @ the Acei Villarroel. WE all agreed that the Hotel service was second to none. The rooms where quiet and well appointed, The hotel was in a quiet area away from the Ramblas which was near enough to walk too, this took 10-15 minutes to walk. We liked the possibility of having 2 connected rooms, what is ideal for families travelling with teenagers. The hotel is located within a walking distance to Barrio Antico and there are many dinning options in the neighbourhood. Rooms are of a good size and nicely decorated. There is a parking option that costs 20 euros.

This is a good location for people who are able to walk. We were able to walk both to Las Ramblas in one direction and the water/light/music show in the other direction. The front desk staff went above and beyond to help us when our prepaid transfer did not arrive as scheduled. This assistance was much appreciated by us.

This was a quite pleasant hotel. the rooms are nice and the pool is a nice addition (although surrounded by apartment buildings overlooking it). The staff was relatively helpful, and the area is ok - about a 15 minute walk to La Rambla. worth staying in if you get a good deal.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I am a regular traveler to Barcelona and had never stayed here before. Overall, it offers great value for money - the hotel is located in one of the best areas to stay in Barcelona, it's clean and staff are very helpful and accommodating. During the stay I had to change into another room due to change of events […] in my trip and staff handled this change in a professional and smooth manner, despite being fully booked. The only downside I would say is the swimming pool which is quite small, but nevertheless has some space for sun tanning around it. Everything else is top marks for its category. Lisateave

While the hotel is a little bit of a walk (15 min) from the main sightseeing locales and the touristy Las Ramblas area, it was ideal for our needs on a recent trip. There are a number of shops, restaurants, and bars close by and it was convenient to walk to the train station for a trip down the coast to the beach. This hotel is centrally located within […] Gaixample for those inclined to check out all of the nightlife within a few blocks of this hotel - and there is a lot in this neighborhood. The room was amazing - clean, sharp, and appeared new. Hardwood floors, beautiful tile bathroom (with separate tub and walk in shower). The bed was amazingly comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful (and spoke English!). I would definitely stay here again in Barcelona. Lisateave

Not a bad option, stayed in a inter leading room, for the kids and 2 adults. Hotel overall neat and very basic. 15 minute walk to Placa Catalunya, surroundings not in the better part of Barcelona. Good value for money in comparison to other hotels. Would recommend inter leading rooms for families.

I stayed here for 3 nights, and the hotel was just OK. Do not go and expect a 4 star hotel experience, becuase it frankly is not. The concierge was very helpful, and the location was only 2 metro stops from the city center. My bigget issue was that my room was right next to the elevator and it was VERY loud at night, and the sound proofing was not good. […] The room did not have a coffee or tea pot which was a little dissapointing, and the shower had this odd wood planking over it. I could tell that the shower floor was old, and therfore they had put this planking over it to make it look "new". The hotel was very clean, and while the neighborhood was not terribly interesting there were cafes to grab a quick bite . If you are able to get this hotel at a good price (Spain is fairly inexpensive, so think "cheap") I would say go for it. Lisateave

Very comfortable and afforable and within easy walking distance to central Barcelona, but without the crowds. A lovely respite from the busy days being a tourist!

Not all the hotel front desk person is helpful, I have tried to borrow a power outlet converter for the US plug twice without luck. But, if you are asking for general directions or buses, they are just fine.

The Acevi Villarroel, Barcelona is a beautifully maintained hotel, close enough to the city centre and the popular sites, but far enough away to allow rest and relaxation. The hotel is just a stones throw from Urgell Metro station, a key link in the network. The stop is also on the Aerobus route, a convenient and cheap means of getting to the city […] from the airport. Much cheaper than a taxi and the service runs 24/7, just remember to ring the bell when the driver announces Urgell because he won't stop otherwise! The staff at Acevi Villarroel are friendly and helpful and the rooms are kept to an extremely high standard of cleanliness. In this respect, it cannot be faulted. The pool area is beautifully kept, albeit it in a city location so overlooked by high-rise apartments. Not many hotels in city's benefit from a pool so the small cons are outweighed by the pros! If you are intending to eat breakfast at the hotel, I did on the last day of our trip, in favour of the lovely cafes in the local district, my advice would be to e sure it is included in the price of your stay. It is pretty expensive for toast, cereals and scrambled eggs... All in all, I cannot really fault the experience. If I ever go back, I'll be sure to book this hotel again! Lisateave

The hotel was very nice. My wife were there visiting a few days before our cruise and were very impressed with the room. It was very spacious and comfortable. It was like a mini suite. The furniture was very modern and well kept and the attendants were very helpful. Planning to go back next year will stay here.

Extremely nice hotel but definitely takes a bite out of your budget. week day stay are preferable to weekend.

This hotel was in a quieter, nice and safe neighborhood, walkable to La Rambla, but the Northern part of it, so you need to jump on a metro to get to some of the main sites. If you want a somewhat central location but benefiting from being away from the crowds, this is a good choice. Also, although we saw that some of the hotels in Las Ramblas were […] in good locations, some where in quiet seedy side streets so we were happy that our hotel's neighborhood was safe and nice. The hotel was clean, the room comfortable, and the staff was helpful/nice. I would recommend. Lisateave

A great hotel. Rooms, service etc all one would expect to pay twice the price for. Excellent location, big room, clean. Service was first rate also. Thank you and thank you Hotels.com. Looking forward to returning.
