"A two star All Inclusive Hotel and Resort at best."
1. Does not have direct access to the beach. The beach area consists of a poorly maintained bar and tents. Of course, if you want to use one you have to drag a cheap dirty plastic chair. We opted to rent a tent next to the hotel because it had two cheap plastic chaise launges 2. After spending a full day at the beach we came back to our room at 4pm […] to shower, rest and get ready for an early dinner and found out our room was still not cleaned. We called and asked for someone to come in and clean our room, no apologies or explanations were given. 3. The restaurans in the hotel are 2 star at best. their menu is very limited and caters to the locals. I spent 5 days at this hotel and every day I found myself with the same options like rice and beans, chicken dishes, and other colombian dishes. About their restaurants ..you have to make reservations wich is normal for resorts, but in this hotel you have to get up before 8am to make sure you get a timeslot you want. We tried the seafood restaurant and was very dissapointing, very limited I guess they spend more on fish that is cheaper than on other seafood; of course, you will not find calamari, lobster or any of that. We really enjoyed our stay, the staff are very welcoming and helpful at anything being asked. The entertainment provided and daily events surrounding the pool area are excellent, don't miss out on this free entertainment. "Decameron All-Inclusive: Disappointing"
First of all I should say that the Decameron is not a bad hotel. The amenities are endless, the security is tighter than Fort Knox and the views from the upper floors are breathtaking. That being said, for the price that I paid I was expecting a little more from the room in the way of creature comforts. There was no A/C in the room, the bathroom was […] small and cramped, the decoration was minimal. Basically it was a bare room with the essentials thrown in. "Love my Decamerons"
Although I seemed to be the only english speaking guest at the Decameron in Cartagena Colombia, I was looked after very graciously! I have stayed at the Royal Decameron Flamingos in Puerto Vallarta three times this last year and prefer this chain of hotels. The hotel was very clean, my room was clean and comfortable. I found the bed alittle hard but […] nothing to really complain about. The views from the hotel are outstanding as it is right on the beach. I found the food delicious even though it is different than what we generally eat in Canada. It's good to be open to new experiences culinary wise My only suggestion would be to have a bottle of water in the room itself in addition to the water cooler in the hallways. The Bartender Roy was a gem. I like bloody marys and he made a special effort to find the ingredients to make them and then he delivered them to my poolside chair. excellent service, thank Roy! "Wonderful hotel!"
Everything was excellent. The rooms were clean, the staff was amazing, it's across the street from the beach, the food is wonderful. "Probably the worse hotel of the chain...."
Although we were welcomed earlier than the 3PM check in. However, to get a Room Lock key (Which is necessary and THE HOTEL charges extra for....) took us ~ 5 Hrs.... It is a complete disorganization chaos the front desk... No one knows anything.... (Including the management.). They just turn their back at you and let you talking by yourself... Hotel […] sponsored tours were a mess. They did not inform the operator of reservations and they left us and at least 2 more couples without the tours we purchased. Manager tried to help, but there's not really much he could do.... Anything you do takes 5, 6 signatures and a bunch of paperwork. The pool is extremely small for the size of the hotel. Operates only 8am to 6pm. Going outside is asking to have at least 5-6 people trying to sell every sort of things things and services. (I saw a lot of people stranded waiting for these services that never happened..PURE SCAM)). Saying 'NO' only make them follow you around, until you either get into a cab or get back to the hotel. The bad stinks so bad my wife decided to sleep in the floor. The Management was notified. The pillows and bed clothes they brought smelled even worse.... the food was OK. Not perfect, but good. Service for dinner sucks. You have to make reservations early in the morning to try to get the food you like. Otherwise, you have to get whatever is left. If you are seafood allergic and that's what's available, then.... Too bad. There's no other options to eat after 6PM. The bar is open until 2AM, but no food. You will have to go out (face the street vendors and the danger) and eat outside. Nevertheless, unless you are to choose at 5 star hotel, it is probably the best in the area, and the only one 'almost fully 'ALL INCLUSIVE'. Decameron Cartagena good is 3 star hotel, the check-in process was fast however we were given a dark room and the window faced an interior wall; we requested a new room and they they gave us a nice room with view to the sea on next day. The all inclusive aspect is fantastic. The hotel also makes sure that you are taken care of on the adjacent beach. The rooms are outdated and the temperature control is not that comfortable. I just stayed seven days at Decameron Cartagena. I was deeply pleased with the hotel. People were really friendly, food was pretty good and you have plenty of choices. I was expecting a three star hotel and not only me, but my family had a terrific time there. The Rosario Island tour was great. You must do the snorkeling class. My daughters had a lot […] of fun. Location and food were reasonable. Sharing tables at dinner was not nice, elevators not working, small pool and lobby for the size of the hotel. El hotel es Bonito, la habitación que me correspondió fue bastante espaciosa con una buena vista. el hotel está bien pero podria ser mejor ya que he estado en otros hoteles decameron de mejor calidad. este no cuenta con playa privada es simplemente una torre de edificios con una Piscina en el primer piso muy pequeña para la capacidad del hotel y a la […] cual no le da mucha luz. esta bien ubicado a 5 cuadras largas de la ciudad amurallada, sepuede ir caminando o en bus o taxi, la playa es molesta ya que al ser publica hay muchos vendedores. Tuve la oportunidad de ir al Decameron de barú en esta mismo viaje y de verdad la diferencia de hoteles es enorme. este hotel no llena las expectativas de otros decameron,es muy viejo con gran olor a humedad en la habitaciones poco mantenimiento y una encargada de servicio a huespedes????altanera y prepotente ,una noche mi esposa y yo nos quitamos las pulseras porque estabam muy ajustadas y teniamos morada la muñeca y al otro dia al querer reponerlas esta encargada […] nos indico o mas regaño diciendo que no se debe hacer eso y que cada pulsera seria repuesta por 60 000 pesos colombianos cada una ,unos 30 dolares cada una,ridiculo y desde luego no aceptamos el cargo entablandose una discusion inutil ,finalmente no las pagamos....algunos de los empleados de restaurantes son prepotentes al asignar mesas para cena que son compartidas y las apartan a quien les da una "propina" o de lo contrario te mandan a una mala mesa ,el hecho que las propinas esten incluidas da pauta a mal servicio. pesimo hotel no se lo recomiendo a nadie,como ya estaban pagadas las dos noches por ustedes quise cancelar una y cambierme al hilton y no me lo permitieron.no volveremos a este hotel jamas. "HOTEL INDIGNO DE LA CADENA DECAMERON"
En la noche de llegada al hotel completamos al check-in. Luego de hacerlo la recepcionista nos informó que no tenían habitaciones disponibles por lo que nos colocaban en otro hotel. Mientras esperábamos que organizaran nuestro transfer a ese otro fuimos al restaurante del Decameron en donde nos robaron el bolso con dinero y pasaporte. Reclamamos al […] agente de servicio quien hizo venir a la policía. Hubo un registro pero no se encontró nada. El día siguiente reclamamos ante la gerenta quien nos dijo que el hotel sólo se hace responsable de los robos en las habitaciones, no en las áreas sociales. Ni siquiera hay cámaras de seguridad. Obviamente no nos robaron en la habitación porque no la tenían. El hotel no nos ofreció ni siquiera excusas y menos aún indemnizaciones. En suma, un hotel infame con una gerente infame.
