Eurostars Mediterranea Plaza - Alicante

Although I only stayed 1 night on a Business trip I am a frequent leisure traveller with my wife so I tend to pay close attention to whats on offer wherever I stay ! The Mediterranea Plaza was a decent hotel in a great location for exploring the town of Alicante ! It's situated in a lovely little square with a unique water feature across from it and […] is a short walk from Alicantes Rambla and is surrounded by many little pedestrian walkways with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from ! Alicante is surprisingly similar to a smaller version of Barcelona in parts ! The hotel was good, beds basic but suitable, good bathroom with a good shower. Lovely and helpful front desk staff. Breakfast is only a continental style buffet but was decent with a lot of choice. I woul recommend Mediterranea Plaza for any non-fussy travellers for whom their hotel is the base for sleep only in between exploration ! Lisateave

I have stayed in hotels all over the world and this was one of best hotel experiences ever. The staff at front desk were very polite and helpful. If in Alicante again I would stay here before looking else where. The location is very good. All though I had a room looking out the back of the hotel I was very happy with it.

We booked a four night stay at the Eurostars Mediterrane Plaza whilst we had a short city break in Alicante to get some winter sun. First of all Alicante is extremely easy to get to from the airport you just take the C6 bus from outside departures at airport and it costs 2.70 euros and takes no longer than 30 minutes. For the hotel we asked for the […] Puerto del Mar stop (marina) and the Eurostars Mediterranea Plaza is just across the road opposite the town hall. Check-in was fine and the staff very friendly. I had emailed the hotel before arrival requesting a non-smoking room and had found them helpful. We were allocated room 401 which was small but clean, it faced on to a side street so had no view but a small balcony. The bed was comfy and the room had a big bathroom with bath with a shower over. We had a mini bar which had enough room in pop in our own drinks and we could get English news channels on the TV like Sky News. We had a safe in the room and we just needed to ask at reception for the key and pay a 20 euro deposit which was refunded on departure. This hotel to me is all about location as its a few minutes to the beach and the harbour and then literally less than a minute to the old town with all its bars and restaurants. I would agree that the hotel is not a four star but we found it to be clean and comfortable. We didn’t hear much noise from other rooms although like others have commented we did hear some noise especially on the Saturday night from outside. In terms of Alicante we really loved the city, we enjoyed the fact that it had a feel of a traditional Spanish town / city but there was a beach and harbour to enjoy as well. We had a wonderful city break in Alicante and would definitely go back. I would happily go back to the Mediterrane Plaza hotel as it’s clean and comfortable, in a brilliant location. It is not a four star hotel and is a little dated but it is a good base for stay in the centre of Alicante. Lisateave

Hotel is in a great location - no need for a car ( parking in area is also difficult and expensive ) lots of places to - eat - drink - visit

Perfect location - 30 seconds to the old town and 2 minutes to the harbour / beach. Nice breakfast (a little expencive). I have stayed at the hotel before and recommended it for my mother, and I write this on behalf of my her (75 years) and her husband (80 yrs) - the only thing missing was a anti-slip carpet in the bath tub, and they would like two […] chairs so that both of them could sit comfortably (not in the bed). Perfect hotel to see the end of the parade. Right in middle of old town with excellent tapas bar La Taberna around corner and so near castle. (free to visit with lift ride included!). Temporary "ice" skating rink set up in square in front of hotel with big xmas tree in middle. Across the road from the Marina too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Well situated right on the town square across from the town hall in the middle of the scenic old town. Very pleased with location near to all sites and views of the castle from town square. Just a couple of minutes from the sea front and marina. Breakfast was adequate and if you like continental style you would always find plenty to eat. Cooked breakfast […] only average so we didn't bother with this. Bed very comfortable, some comments say it is hard - I would say medium to firm mattress which suited us. Our room was at the rear of the hotel facing into a narrow street. The door opened onto a narrow balcony but no furniture, not that you would want to sit outside as it was in the shade and only view was by looking sideways to the sea. The door fitted poorly and wasn't sound proof. You could hear the noises of traffic, night-time revellers and early morning street cleaners which was a nuisance at first, but we got used to it and not all the time. If you are a light sleeper this could be a problem. Overall for the price paid and its location, I would recommend this hotel. I had no expectations of Alicante itself, but was pleasantly surprised by the city and would recommend for a short city break - the local tram is very good value running up and beyond Benidorm allowing you to go out for the day for very little cost. We really liked the location in the heart of the old town, hotel was quite noisy and the beds are hard. Staff friendly and warm, more then helpfull. Would recommend for a short stay.

The hotel was excellently situated with a wonderful sun terrace with a good view of the castle. The staff were extremely helpful and printed out bus timetables for us for our onward journey. The rooms were very nicely decorated. We'd definitely recommend. Very good value.

Pros: The location of the hotel was very good. a short half block walk to the water front. Mayor street behind the hotel had many paella/tapas restaurants to choose from. Beds and pillows were high quality. above average breakfast. Cons: We were driving a rental car and followed our GPS. The side of the hotel facing the street looks abaondoned. The […] full panel windows on the first floor are painted over- and the doors are chained- although there is a hotel sign with the name over this door. Initially, we were worried that the hotel had gone out of business since our booking. There is no sign or indication that the main entrance is around the block in a courtyard. Our first room smelled of smoke. I returned to registration to ask if they had another room and the agent became quite upset with me, insisting that she had not made a mistake and our room was indeed on a nonsmoking floor. she declared that hte hotel was sold out and that I had the right room. I explained that I understood but someone must have broken the rules. She then calmed down and changed our room. other interactions with staff were all luke warm, not all that friendly. The walls are paper thin and conversations in the next room were easily heard. The recommended parking garage was a good 4-5 block walk partly uphill, not all travellers would be able to make this walk. Lisateave

We enjoyed our one night at this hotel and would definitely come back. It was in the old town, close to restaurants and bars, and to the sea. It is very close to the bus stop to get to and from the airport. Our room was clean and well equipped. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location,with the harbour and bars and resturants just a couple of minutes away. The hotel is in a gorgeous plaza with a very old and historical town hall.Within the plaza there are also a few bars aswell. A very nice location in a very manageable city. Close to the water, restaurants and shopping. The hotel had a great pillow menu. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

I booked a double room bt when I have got there the lady at the reception gave me a single bed as there were no double bed available left. she suggested to move me to another room the next day but failed to do so. Finally the following day they manage to give me a bigger room. However, the hotel is very clean and the staff very helful. I would recommend […] this hotel and will be going back. Lisateave

We arrived in at Alicante Airport and took the bus C-6 (2.60 euros one way) to the hotel. The hotel is located close to the last stop of the bus. On getting off the bus you walk around 50 yards straight ahead and then turn right, follow the road down until you come to a square in which the hotel is located to your left in the corner. The one who checked us in could speak Spanish, English, German, French and Dutch so you shouldn't have any problems in that department. We were checked in quickly and headed up to our room (207) which had a great view out onto the square below. The rooms were very good, with all the expected amenities that come with a 4 star hotel (satellite tv, air conditioning, safe deposit box etc.) The room was clean and the beds, although a bit hard were OK. The one problem we had during our stay was, as mentioned in previous reviews, the noise. We suffered not so much from the noise from the square below but from the noise from the room next door. Our room had a very thin connecting door through to the neighbouring room which meant we could hear literally everything going on in that room (TV, converstaions, coughing, phonecalls) We were lucky because the people in the next room turned in at around midnight so it was OK, but I can see it being a real problem if people were to stay up into the early hours. We also used the gym which was OK. All in all very happy. Lisateave

This charming hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of the old town near to a taxi rank and also for the airport bus. Rooms at the front have a lovely view over the Plaza Ayuntamiento. This is mixed blessing if you are a light sleeper - both due to occasional late night revellers and the fact that the municipal authorities start to clean […] the square at 0630hrs! The room was clean and comfortable, however, and the aircon / heating unit seemed to be very effective. The flatscreen TV worked well & offered a good choice of channels (European networks/BBCnews/CNN). The breakfast buffet offered a good choice on the continental front, including delicious pastries,though hot food (the usual bacon/scrambled egg/sausage) was slightly less appealing. I'm assuming the hotel was awarded 4 stars due to having a fitness suite & sauna (which we did not use) as there are no other public rooms to speak of apart from a cafe/ bar which is semi-detached through a door adjacent to the reception desk. Nevertheless, this hotel offers great value for money, particularly if you want to avoid a bland, monotonous hotel-chain experience. Lisateave

Very nice hotel, with excellent location. Easy access to the beach, Santa Barabara castle, la Rambla, nice restaurants nearly, and shopping centers or nightlife activities. The only problem was that there was a church nearby hotel that used to ring some kind of melody every 15 minutes until midnight which made it difficiult to sleep earlier or concentrate […] on own stuffs! Also, loud noises from nearby (such as drunk people talking loud) could be heard and could wake me up sometimes at 2-3 AM. But all in all, I liked the hotel and will go there again next time that I travel to Alicante. Lisateave

We stayed here to visit my daughter who lives in Spain and found it suited our needs perfectly. The location is spot on, close to the harbour and the promenade but far enough away to be quiet and almost traffic free. Stafff were very helpful and the rooms a good size. Breakfast was adequate and plenty of it. All in all a good stay. The only negative […] was there was a party of drunken Germans and Norwegians who made a lot o noise at night on two occasions, but that it is not the fault of the hotel except they didnt have the staff to handle it. The Eurostars Mediterranea Plaza in Alicante is in an ideal location. Situated in the town hall square very near to the old district yet near to beach and marina. Ask for rooms overlooking the plaza. The views are stunning looking out at the castle. I would imagine there might be some noise in the evenings as it's a square but at the time of year we […] went (November) it was minimal and we were able to close the window. Hotel is very comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and always helpful. Breakfast in the hotel was buffet style, very enjoyable, and certainly worth the 10 € per day we paid. Would certainly recommmend this hotel. Lots of great places to eat nearby too. Lisateave

A great hotel in an amazing location. We had not expected it to be this good after previous experiences elsewhere in Spain. The staff were so helpful, the views were spectacular and being only a few minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and attractions in and around the Old City made our stay a wonderful holiday.

Good hotel, clean, in the city center. The only "problem" experienced was the noise coming from the next door rooms when staff was making them up (it sounded like they were inside my own room!) and the annoyance of having to get often back to reception as the key-cards to open the room's door were not working. This is the ONLY hotel to stay in. Just back from a week in Alicante and im delighted I chose to stay in the Eurostars Hotel. It is right in the middle of everything. The beach, marina and restaurants are more or less on your door step. It made life so handy. Hotel is perfect for a visit to Alicante 5 mins walk to beach. marina , town centre. Right in the old square a touch of real Spain i would recommend this hotel highly

Hotel was perfectly located in a lovely square, only 2 mins walk from the beach. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room and en suite were both massive, if plainly decorated. Couldn't really have asked for much more. We didn't, however, try the breakfast as preferred to sit in the square and have a coffee and croissant. MODERN CLEAN HOTEL WHICH WAS VERY EASY TO GET TO. ONLY TWO MINUTES WALK TO THE MARINA AND BEACH. VERY EASY TO GET TO FROM THE RAMBLA AND ONLY A FEW MINUTES WALK FROM LOCAL BUS AND TRAM SERVICES. Chosen purely for it's great central location by the port and beach and free room wifi for my iPhone. It's within a nice looking area next to official civic buildings and outdoor cafes. Comfortable but far from great rooms. First stay was great, second stay in a room on the first floor overlooking the cafes was seriously noisy resulting in a poor nights […] sleep (and I normally sleep through anything). Lisateave

Hotel very clean and in ideal location.The plaza the hotel sits in is being re-built at the moment - but this did not affect our stay. Didn't eat at hotel so can't comment on food. Best rate via hotels dot com.

Good location, but basic hotel, could do with being modernised! Lots of noise if your staying weekends, people coming out of clubs etc.. Ok if your staying for a short while as its location is good.

To get into the hotel you have to negotiate a building site the Town Hall Square is completly dug up with builders working from 7 in the morning till 7 at night with all the noise and dust that a major refurb kicks up. While the hotel does its best this does have a major impact on your stay. Getting in and out is a dangerous obstical course. I suppose […] thats the price you pay for being in a really central spot. When its done I will return but honestly feel this hotel should be discounted to a low price while this major work is carried out. I booked this hotel within an hour after missing my flight home and was pleasantly surprised to find it was in a superb location in the old town with the marina and its varied selection of restaurants and bars closeby. Eurostars Mediterranea Plaza is located just a stone's throw from the Esplanda de Espansas, the beach, the old town and its numerous restaurants. The square in which it is located is undergoing major works but other than having all the building materials stacked up, their work did not detract from out enjoyment. The staff allowed me to check in early, as I arrived early but had an appointment out of town later in the morning, and did not expect to return until later in the evening. Rather than carry my luggage with me, I left it in the very well maintained room.

Huoneessa oli savuinen haju. Koska ilmastointi ei ollut vielä käytössä, huone oli selvästi käytävää kuumempi. Jouduimme nukkumaan ikkuna auki ja kadulta kuuluva kalkatus häiritsi pahasti.

Estamos muy contentos de haber descubierto un hotel como el suyo, con un emplazamiento perfecto,ya que nosotros siempre buscamos el centro de la ciudad,y con la fortuna de una buena impresión como pueden ver en la encuesta,ahora les explico la limitación que hemos encontrado,sin tener mas referencia que la habitación que ocupamos,eramos dos personas […] y una de ellas de avanzada edad,con lo que esto supone en problemas de movilidad,encontramos un cuarto de baño perfecto,pero poco apropiado para personas mayores,viendo que para salir de la bañera corren cierto riesgo de accidentarse,como ustedes dan servicio a fumadores y no,les sugiero que pongan habitaciones tambien para personas mayores,que en vez de bañera tangan un plato de ducha,ya en muchas casas con ancianos se esta adaptando los cuartos de baño para evitar accidentes en lo posible,ya les digo que es una opinión solamente teniendo la referencia de la bonita habitación que ocupamos,pero si todas son así,darían un buen servicio cambiando alguna de ellas y adaptándolas para tantos viajeros ancianos,y siempre podían ser ocupadas logicamente por gente mas joven.Muy agradecidos por el trato y servicio recibidos,esperamos que sea hasta pronto,un saludo.
