Staff provide excellent service and the central location and car parking facility is very convienent

the hotel was the ideal place to start the walks to Charles fort and James fort, also within throwing distance of some fine restaurants
"Actons Hotel, Kinsale Cork"
Stayed there for 1 night as we were guests at a wedding. The food for the wedding was beautiful and so was the room where the reception was but the room we stayed in was terrible, bed so uncomfortable, the noise from other guests coming to and fro from their room can be heard quite easily, the paint on the walls in the corridor on our floor was peeling […] away. "Sleepless night"
Do not stay in room 316! Did not get any sleep as very old lift going most of night and making a lot of noise. Location good. Rooms very old but clean.
"Hotel Acton - Kinsale"
Excellent Hotel. Plenty of Car Parking space. Very roomy Bedroom with excellent sea view. Only had Breakfast in Hotel as we wanted to try out the famous Kinsale Seafood Restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.
"Large rooms."
Rooms were large. Could do with painting but this did not take away from their comfort.Everything was clean. Staff were friendly.Enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to others.

Great hotel in a perfect location. Very clean and comfortable. There was an older crowd there during my stay, but would suit all ages. Overall very happy with my stay. The only negatives are having to leave your key with reception when leaving the hotel, and the breakfast room was a little disorganised. But the breakfast was very tasty!

The staff was friendly and willing to help. They had a problem with their hot water - none, and then no water at all for over a half day - so that caused some issues. Although the hotel picked up the costs of breakfast and dinner on both days affected - and that was veryt gracious of them. "Great location but hotel in serious need of work"
Stayed here for friends wedding booked superior room and price did not include breakfast was the biggest rip off ever . The hotel is falling down the room was appalling and the bathroom was even worse ! I don't mind paying money for a nice room but this was shocking i booked bed and breakfast in 5 star hotel for same rate they charged. I would not recommend […] this hotel Lisateave
"Actons- the centre for Kinsale"
Even though we wee in a back room Actons is the ideal location if you are visiting Kinsale. It is almost in the centre of town but also has lovely views of the harbour. The service is friendly and it FEELS like a family run hotel. It has my vote and I will be back!

"lovely location, great staff..."
this is a great location at kinsale. Hotel staff lovely. however parking is an issue (not enough spaces) and some of the hotel needs updating. The room was spotless clean and very comfortable with a great view.But breakfast was not good.

Yes I would recommend this hotel to others purely for the convenience of it's setting, it's in the centre of Kinsale and close to all restaurants, pubs and shops. Breakfast was good but we were very disappointed in the evening meal which was only available in the bar. I went back to my room at one stage and saw the staff washing tea cups in the toilet […] sink - is this hygenic?? Bathrooms are very small. Lisateave

One of the better places I stayed for entire trip. Breakfast, pool, spa, etc included also in price
"Great Stay"
We attended a wedding in Actons and stayed for one night. The food served for the wedding meal was gorgeous. The service and helpings were plentiful. We were upgraded to a large suite which seemed to be a family room. It had two seperate bedrooms. One with a double bed and the other had bunk beds. Both rooms seperated by a small hall way and the bathroom. […] Perfect for a family of 4. The rooms are a little dated but spotlessly clean and have all the facilities you would need for your stay. The pipes when you flush the toilet or turn on the water in the bathroom made alot of noise for about 20 minutes after you were finished but when you closed the door into the bedrooms the noise is not so loud. Other then that we had a fantastic stay. Food & drink were very reasonable also for a hotel. I would recommedn this to anyone who is looking for a lovely hotel in a prime location. Thank you acton's for a lovely stay. We will return again. Lisateave

"The Acton, Kinsale"
Very nice hotel. My only gripe is the toaster at breakfast. Permanantly noisy and got on my nerves. Reported it to the breakfast staff who said it had been like that all week. Reported it to reception who assured us it would be looked at that day. Next morning it was still not fixed. Had some music on to try and cover it up - didn't work. Reported it […] again to another member of reception who didn't seem to know anything about it. Left that day so don't know if it got fixed. A high rated hotel let down by such a small thing. Probably only needs a bit of WD40! Lisateave

"ACTONS KINSALE"
I RESERVED A SMOKING ROOM, BUT DID NOT EXPECT TO LEAVE THE ROOM SMELLING LIKE AN ASHTRAY. VENTILATION WAS INADEQUATE. THE WINDOW WAS TOO SMALL. THE ROOM DID HAVE A VENTILATION UNIT ON THE WALL, WHICH WE SWITCHED ON, WHEN GOING OUT FOR A WALK, HOPING THIS WOULD IMPROVE THE SMELL IN THE ROOM. ON OUR RETURN TO THE ROOM WE FOUND THAT THE UNIT HAD BEEN SWITHCHED […] OFF. I ASKED AT RECEPTION TO BE MOVED TO ANOTHER ROOM. THE RECEPTIONIST TOLD US TO RETURN TO OUR ROOM AND PACK UP OUR BELONGINGS AND SHE WOULD TRY TO GET US A NEW ROOM. WHEN WE CHECKED BACK AT RECEPTION WE WERE TOLD THAT NO OTHER ROOM WAS AVAILABLE. THE FOLLOWING MORNING WE ARRIVED AT THE DINING ROOM FOR BREAKFAST. WE WERE SERVED MOULDY BROWN BREAD. THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL IS EXCELLENT BUT THE DECOR AND SERVICE LEAVES ALOT TO BE DESIRED. "A Great location adn excellent service"
The hotel is getting old and the maintenance while OK cannot disguise the age of the property, that said, the rooms were very comforatble and warm, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The internet access in all rooms is stretching it a littel sonce the higher level rooms have zero connecticvity, lower rooms ahev intermittent access, if you need […] to work on line, then you have to reture to the lounge close to reception. the hotel was fine, clean rooms and excellent location. the rooms are basic and could be really nice with a bit of upgrading. there was a lot of noise at back of hotel which kept me awake half the night. Best thing about the hotel is the location
"Functional - good location v average hotel."
Great location but hotel is functional only. Rooms are small and functional only and we were in 315 and it was right by the lift and any time the lift was used it was very loud. Food in hotel OK and bar ok.

Best thing about this hotel is its location, right in the hearth of Kinsale so you can park up your car for the duration of the stay and walk everywhere. Good leisure facilities. Party of Four - Two aged 60-65 and two age 35. Only stayed one night but were all very satisfied. Excellent hot buffet breakfast, served by very pleasant members of staff. Our rooms were to the rear of the hotel - our choice - as two of our party were smokers and these rooms to rear. Would suggest (if non smokers) to ask for a room to the front overlooking […] the beautiful bay. The outside rear of building onto the back street could do with a lick of paint and all windows looked like they had not had a clean in ages - nitpicking only as the interior was very nice and spotless. We had a nice stay. The hotel is right on the water, very close to the bus stop. Room was a little dated, but everything worked fine. Nice to have complimentary internet in room.

Overall very pleasant stay. The room was somewhat dated but in good condition and comfortable. Location is very good and our room had a harbor view. The lounge was quite nice offering both food and beverages and the help were very accommodating. Only had breakfast in the restaurant and it was fine. Service was very good.

Attended the hotel for a wedding and stayed two nites. The hotel is lovely and very well located. Ate in the hotel and must admit that the food was fantastic and so was the service. The room, although not modern, was lovely and quaint. The only negative thing I must say, is that I asked for a non-smoking room but got a smoking room. the hotel is located right on the waterfront and is easily accessible to the town. it is a bit old and could use a remodel. The gym was great though.
"Fantastic Location"
The most attractive aspect of this hotel was the fantastic location. we didnt spend much time in the hotel as we preferred to visit the lively pubs and restaurants in the town. When we did spend time in the hotel pool it was overrun with families with small children
"Excellent hotel"
We had pre-booked this hotel as a one night stay on our motorbike trip of Ireland. On arrival we found we hadn't a sea view so the helpful receptionist let us view both our prebooked room and the only room with a sea view, the bridal suite. Of couse once husband had seen the suite, we were sold and booked for an additional E20. The room was huge with […] separate dressing room, leather sofa and massive really comfortable bed. We didn't eat in the hotel at night as we wanted to find somewhere to eat in town and listen to traditional music. We followed the receptionist recommendation and had an excellent night. Breakfast next morning was your normal hotel buffet but good enough. I would sum up this hotel as a good hotel in a good location overlooking the sea a couple of minutes from the town centre. "Clean but in need of revamp"
A nice hotel with a long history but in need of a revamp. Especially the bathrooms and the elevator need modernising. Friendly staff and lovely setting, though.

Hôtel typique avec des couloirs sans fin et des chambres confortables sans plus. Pour le prix de la chambre, on peu bénéficier du SPA et ça c'est vraiment super! Très proche du centre ville, si on a réussi à parquer sa voiture dans le parking bondé, il est très facile d'aller déambuler à pied dans la ville.
