Holland House Beach Hotel - Philipsburg

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is modern & very clean. It's conviently located right on the beach & boardwalk. I would recommend renting a car. This allowed us to visit a good number of beaches and really explore the island. Plus everything shuts down in Phillisburg around 6pm so if you want to hang out its really just the hotel bar […] which is really nice but its worth exploring nightlife is Simpson Bay. The hotel has parking in a lot the next street over for $10 a day. Some people had mentioned that the neighborhood is a little sketchy at night but we had no problem even when we went out late at night and had to walk to the hotel from the parking lot. Overall had a wonderful time! Also was a little nervous about reservation with hotel.com because of reviews expressings issues with reservations but check in was smooth...no problems at all;) Lisateave

The location is hard to beat - right in the center of the beach in Phillipsburg. Lots of restaurants and bars, and shopping (if that's your thing). If you want solitude - go to the French side - then plan to drive to get anywhere. It's great to walk from your room to your beach chair in about two minutes, and to various restaurants in five. Nice clean […] rooms. Only real down side is only one elevator - which is only a problem if your above the second floor. They use it for service as well as guests - so there's often a wait. The restaurant has a beautiful open view of the beach, but is very overpriced (skip the meh breakfast buffet at $17 and get a delicious breakfast sub at subway two doors down for $5). Despite what the website may say, don't rent a car through them - it's about twice as much as renting at the airport. They recently made a deal with a place a block away for $10/day parking. If they run out of spots, parking can be an issue. Parking at the marina is $1/hour. You can usually find free parking somewhere in town if you have to. The close the gate to the beach before midnight, and I've had to yell for a guard to get in the Front St. gate before 1 am. It's not an all-night town... Staff varies from aloof and unhelpful to warm and friendly, but that's the caribbean for you. Lisateave

This was a clean hotel and convenietly located on the boardwalk in Phillipsburg. However, you have to walk 3 blocks to park your car on the street wherever you find a spot , or pay $10.00 per day on a lot 3 blocks away. The hotel restaurant is quite expensive. Fortunately, their are many other less expensive options within walking distance. The Greenhouse […] restaurant was very good. Also, look into happy hour deals. This hotel is directly on the beach and has chairs and beach umbrellas for free. Lisateave

Centrally located with convenience to everything! We had a car, so we were out when the cruise ships landed and got out of the rush to get some beautiful relaxing on beaches all over the island.

The hotel is showing its age, the room was small but perfectly adequate. The view from our beachfront room was out of this world and the beach ou tfront had free chairs for hotel guests. It was lovely. We enjoyed our dinner at the hotel restaurant but they should do something about the mosquitos that live under the restaurant, I went for dinner I didn't […] enjoy being dinner. Big word of warning if you rent a car, there is no parking at this hotel. You either have to park at the local govenment building and get up by 7 am to move the car or park some blocks away and walk or taxi back. Lisateave

St Maarten and the Holland House are the places to go if you are looking for rest and relaxation. If you don't mind the extremely slow service in the beautiful outdoor restaurant, the food is fantastic and the wait staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Can't wait to return. We spent 10 restful days there.

I liked the hotel. Very friendly staff. Hotel was clean. I liked it that it was not a mega hotel. From the hotel you step directly on the beach. Beach was clean and water nice. The street side has a poor view, but when you're out whole day it doesn't bother at all. During evening and night no disturbing street noise. We stayed in this hotel for 2 days after spending first 6 days on the other side of the island. Everything about this hotel itself was very nice - rooms, common areas, restaurant. The hotel faces beach on one side and shopping street on the other. The beach is nice, BUT the place is a port for cruise ships, so the water is not nearly as clear compared […] to other beaches on the island and somewhat smelly (port). The place comes alive when cruise ships come (shops open; streets and bars are full of tourists wondering around killing time - this type of atmosphere might be appealing to some people, definitely not to all) and dies when cruise ships leave. As for the overall experience - I liked it much better on the other side of the island. Lisateave

My second stay here. A great hotel. Pros: Centrally located in town. Right on the beach. Very bright and cheery decor. Everything works (shower, safe, thermostat) Good food in the restaurant. Other good restaurants near by. Food/drink service while you sit on the beach. Cons: Service on the beach was spotty this trip. No response to inquiry about […] rental car rates made via their website. Rental car cost twice what I would have paid if I'd rented online at the airport + cab to get to hotel. Overall we had a great stay.... the room was clean,the ocean view was great and the neighborhood is cool full of bars, restaurants and stores however everything closes after the cruise ships are gone which can be an issue. I would recommend the hotel for a short weekend stay.

Great hotel to stay whether on business, vacation/pleasure or family reunion. Excellent for beach lovers looking for Caribbean sun and sand - the beach being just footsteps away from your room. Excellent choice of TV channels, however would be nice to cater too for the spiritual need as well with these choices. Great room amenities. My thought though- […] if you can chill it then you should be able to heat it. However, I was told by the front desk staff that a microwave is made available in your room upon request by the guest. Good location. Friendly staff, had some challenges with front desk and the answering of telephone . Televison channels insufficient. No local channel was seen.

The service received from the staff at "The Holland House" was really great. The people were friendly and provided us with top notch hospitable service. If there is one area of needed improvement...I would definitely say that it requires a little renovation. The bathrooms were a bit outdated and the carpet in the hallways should be replaced. POR SER LA PRIMERA VEZ, SE ME HIZO DIFICULTUOSO ENCONTRAR EL HOTEL, POR QUE NO ESTA ROTULADO APROPIADAMENTE. LA ESTADIA FUE MARAVILLOSA.

Een zeer aangenaam hotel. Eten nogal prijzig, maar heel goed. 1 Minpuntje: enkele dingen die we bij vertrek in de kamer hadden laten liggen, zijn niet als gevonden gemeld.

Hotellet ligger dejlig centralt i Philipsburg, hvor der om dagen er en livlig handel på Front Street, men om aftenen efter kl. 18 lukker alt og området virker lidt skummelt. Der er en sikkerhedsvagt omkring hotellet 24 timer i døgnet. Vi spiste en gang i hotellets restaurant og priserne var meget høje og ikke prisen værd i forhold til det vi fik at […] spise. Hotellet virker lidt slidt i kanten og vi manglede lidt personlig service. Vi havde en god udsigt over stranden, men hotellets ude område (restaurant/bar) er ikke særlig køn set fra oven.(Der er pigtråd på en del af taget). Generelt ikke prisen værd. Lisateave

Prima hotel voor kort verblijf. Uitstekende keuken en royaal ontbijtbuffet. Allen voor kleine ontbijters geen andere kaart.

O quarto é grande com sacada ou com vista para o mar ou para a rua depende da escolha, o banheiro é limpo e com banheira, para utilização de wi-fi é preciso pegar a senha na recepção. O hotel não têm academia e nem piscina também com a super piscina azul turqueza na frente chamada Mar do Caribe. O Hotel é bem localizado, sua frente é na Front Street […] a principal rua do comércio da ilha, e os fundos do hotel tem saída para a Boardwalk, o calçadão em frente à praia com vários bares e restaurantes. O café é tipo buffet sistema americano e é cobrado a parte pelo restaurante Ocean Lounge, mas você não é obrigado a tomar café lá pois há várias opções em bares ao redor do hotel. Na praia têm-se direito a espreguiçadeira, guarda sol e toalhas, e se precisar de bebidas e petiscos, há um funcionário do hotel que fica servindo você na praia. Em geral a nossa estadia foi boa, recomendo ! Lisateave

Rien à dire concernant le confort et la propreté de la suite junior côté mer. Par contre on a trouvé dommage, bien que parlant anglais, que pour un hôtel comme celui ci personne ne parle français sur une île moitié française. Petit bémol concernant le parking qui se trouve à deux rues de l'hôtel. Petit déjeuner copieux à 15$ Ne pas s'inquiéter de la […] facture de 20$ pour les clefs (cartes magnetiques) que l'on vous glisse sous la porte le jour du départ , c'est en cas de non restitution des cartes. Ficamos 3 dias neste ótimo pequeno hotel, muito bem localizado, comida variada e maravilhosa e staff de alto padrão. Todos foram muito prestativos aos nossos pedidos e questionamentos. A praia em frente é muito boa, apesar de pequena. O hotel fica na área onde existe o melhor comércio da cidade, não há melhor no local.

Mycket bra och trevligt hotell men utmärkt läge vid stranden. Dessvärre hög ljudvolym på luftkonditioneringen. Trevlig och vänlig personal.

Se vc deseja ficar no centro, andar a pe, lojas, joalharias...ê o melhor lugar da ilha. NAO tem estacionamento. Tem uma praia linda em frente ao hotel, serviços de toalhas, cadeiras,... Hotel antigo, reformado, novo e SEM CARPET!!! EU GOSTEI MUITO!!!

Não recomendo este hotel para ninguém. De dia é muito movimentado, mas a noite não tem ninguém nas ruas. Como alugamos um carro e neste hotel não tem estacionamento, o segurança teve que nos levar a noite até o nosso carro, pois as ruas em volta do hotel ficam desertas. Apesar de o hotel ser bom, o serviço foi péssimo. Chegamos e a atendente não achou […] a nossa reserva, esperamos 2 horas para o nosso quarto ficar pronto e no final dos 3 dias contratados, quiseram nos cobrar por mais um dia, dizendo que a reserva feita foi de 2 dias. E, para aqueles que têm o sono leve, a janela do quarto balança muito devido ao vento da ilha e com isso, não consegui dormir direito. Lisateave

Dette hotellet er etter det jeg kunne se det "beste" hotellet i området. Ligger midt i det som skjer i Philipsburg, har en nydelig spise/bar område samt få skritt til stranden. Deilig at det man kan finne av mat/drikke/aktivitet ligger rundt dette. Vær obs på at Philipsburg ikke er en party by, så alt er stengt rundt kl 20-21 med få unntak. Hvis man […] vil ha party er Simpson Bay visstnok stedet. Pass på å få frokost inkludert, da det er ganske dyrt. Største minuset er at det var konstant mygg i hotellrommet, selv om jeg brukte 1 time hver kveld for å kverke dem. Anbefales hvis du ønsker å slikke sol, slappe av og nyte det rolige, solfyllte livet i Karibien Største minuset Lisateave

Das Hotel liegt absolut zentral mit Ausgang zum Strand und auf der anderen Seite zu den Geschäften. Strand annehmbar aber voll, wenn die Kreuzfahrtschiffe anlegen. Sand und Wasser o.K. Bei Reise in der Vorsaison (vor Dezember) ist das Angebot an Restaurantes auf ca. 5 beschränkt, abends absolut nichts los, da das Geschäft am Tag mit den Kreuzfahrtschiffen […] gemacht wird. Het Holland House is een mooi, modern hotel met een goed restaurant. We hebben erg genoten van het ontbijt en het diner. Het strand is voor het hotel gelegen en heeft speciaal voor de hotelgasten bedjes en handdoeken die gratis zijn. Tevens is er een douche waar gebruik van gemaakt kan worden. Er staan heerlijke lounch meubels op het terras en alles […] is modern aangekleed. Een nadeel is dat er geen parkeerplaats bij het hotel is en dat de auto dus 1 km verder geplaatst moet worden. Niet echt prettig om 's avonds in het donker nog over straat te moeten als je terug komt of nog weg wil gaan. Overall een prima hotel als je van winkelen houdt en lekker aan het strand wil liggen. Holland House has a great location to all the shopping you would want in St. Martin. It is also right on the beach where you can spend the whole days drinking very cheap cold beer and tons of restaurants to chose from. Some of the nightlife is a taxi ride away, but the amount of activity that goes on around the hotel is very amusing. Great restaurant.. […] Try the eggs benedict for breakfast and warm staff.
