I could not have asked for a better hotel. Longwood Inn is very cute, quaint, and personal. It is an old house converted to an inn. All of the hotel staff were super friendly and very accommodating. My room was very nice, well decorated, and modern. I used public transportation, but did notice that they have free parking--a definite plus in the city. […] They also have free wireless. This hotel should definitely be rated higher than two stars. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely stay there again whenever visiting Boston. Lisateave

The Inn was a very comfortable "home away from home" while in Boston. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful for first-time Boston visitors. They advised us to use a taxi service, rather than attempting to find our own way around - this turned out to be invaluable to us. We experienced health concerns during our trip. Longwood is a large, old home converted to a comfortable inn. Though the rooms are small, ours was bright and appeared to be freshly decorated. The living and dining rooms form a spacious lounge area with comfortable seating and a large dining table. Excellent, clean, and friendly place to stay within walking distance of the medical school and children's hospital. Also, very easy to get from airport via bus + train.

The hotel was very nice and well kept, extremely clean from what i could tell. Overall I had a pleasant stay and was happy with my choice, but I do have one complaint. The woman who worked in the office was extremely rude and did not act very professional. I did not even get a hello when we walked in, just a "What is your last name." For paying a decent […] dollar to stay ain your hotel when I could have stayed in other places, I think a little hospitality is in order. The staff were nice. My room was clean. There is a clean kitchen with everything that is available to the guests. Free parking was available. However, I was quite disappointed when I couldn't reach any one using their "emergency" phone numbers after hours when I realized that the heat in my room was not on!!! I had to sleep with my jacket b/c it was […] my room was freezing. Other than this I had a good experience. Lisateave

Apparently "limited" front desk hours means 9am-5pm. I arrived at 10pm to an envelope with my room key in it, no staff on site, and a sign posting "emergency" staff phone numbers. I made my way to my room which was 85 degrees, and no thermostat control. Additionally, there was no iron, and no hair dryer (I had an interview at 7am the following morning). […] To their credit, I called one of the emergency staff phone numbers and one of the staff came by and brought me a hair dryer at 11:30pm, and informed me of the community iron in the basement. I informed the staff member of the unbearable room temperature, and I was told to turn the heat off, but that there was no A/C. With the heat turned off, the room was 80 degrees. I had to keep the window open (allowing the 20 degree winter air in) to cool the room to down. The bed was unfortunately a sink hole. I did not sleep at all. To top it off, the maid left a handwritten note in the room, stating that "...tips will be much appreciated..", although there were smashed Cheetos on the floor for at least the 2 days I was there, and I don't eat Cheetos. To be fair, I informed the staff the next day about the extremely uncomfortable room temperature and they mentioned that construction people were "working on it." The Inn itself is cozy, and very cute. The only good thing about my room was the free internet. I will not stay there again. Lisateave

Clean, generally updated, new bathroom, flat screen TV, WiFi, within walking distance of medical center and Coolidge Corner. Great little spot; wish I could have spent more time there.

If you're looking for a nice change from the high rises and high prices in Boston, this is your place. Great room, kitchen and laundry at your disposal, free parking and convienent to everything Boston has to offer. T stop was a short walk away, lots of restaurants, coffee, beverage, even Trader Joe's within a few blocks.

Staying overnight twice, each side of a week, was most convenient. Though it's outside the city limits and therefore outside the service of a shuttle, staff helpfully rang me a cab on both occassions. The rooms are ideal , comfortable, clean and so very beautifully decored. It was for me a restful spot in my busy timetable. The best pizza I've ever […] had was nearby at 'Upper crust' within easy walking distance. In fact there are many shops, food places and banks just 3 blocks away. Nice small hotel. Just what I was looking for. The room was a good size with a lovely bathroon and all the things you needed. Breakfast was substantial as you could have a much as you wanted of a variety of items. Very friendly staff

My first time to the Boston area and I couldn't have been more pleased with the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the room, and the proximity to Fenway Park. The manager was nice enough to walk me to the train, help me get a ticket and point me in the right direction to get to the park. Great hotel and excellent value.

Lovely facility. A lot like a home. Beautiful kitchen open to everyone. Nice back deck to sit on in the evening and listen to the crickets. Great place

Loved this hotel. It was old and charming, and very close to Fenway. The surrounding neighborhood was wonderful. I was with my ten year old nephew attending a Red Sox game, and would very much love to back sometime, and explore Boston! Would stay here again!

We really liked this Inn. Everything about it was perfect except for the small double-sized bed which made sleeping very uncomfortable for two people. We tried to transfer to a queen-sized bed but the Inn only had four rooms with queen-sized beds and they were taken.. The other 18 were either single or doubles. We didn't understand why the Inn charges […] an extra person fee if it doesn't provide a larger bed for two people. Otherwise, it was great. Lisateave

The Longwood Inn was a wonderful place to stay. Only a few blocks from the T, we were able to go to all the places in Boston we wanted to without having to drive. We loved staying at the Longwood Inn. It was like a bed-and-breakfast, but with more privacy. My room was spotless and comfortable. Well kept. I loved having a full kitchen and refrigerator to store food. Parking was free! I enjoyed everything about my stay here. Definitely would recommend it!

Considering the cost of Fenway parking, the free, shaded parking here is superb. Although we walked up to the third floor, the cross-ventilation of the room along with backup air conditioning was wonderful. It's an older mansion, with kitchen privileges, close to everything. We have stayed here before and will do so again!

I found my stay at the Longwood Inn comforatble and enjoyable. After the initial confusion about how to check in after hours, I settled nicely into a clean, tastefully decorated room with very comfortable beds. It is conveniently located near the Longwood T station which will get you to anywhere in the city. I had full access to Boston without the big […] city hotel price tag! Lisateave

Our Stay at the Longwood Inn was very nice.The Mansion was very interesting.It was within walking distance to the Childrens Hosp.The train stop that takes you right into The Goverment center,Where everything is going on.Shopping Dining,The North End,Mikes Pastry....As for the Inn.There is no elevater,So you will most likely have to walk up some steps […] to the 2nd or 3rd level.Our room was very clean and quiet.We didn"t hear anything going on outside our room.Nice bathroom.I think it was room 34.Rhonda at the desk was very helpful with our stay,Answered all our questions about the area.And Checked us in quickly.Overall it was the best deal in the area of Brookline and the Childrens Hosp. of Boston.And the parking was free too.Nice Neighbor hood.Lots of people just going to school and to work at the Hosp. The Longwood Inn was an excellent choice to stay at. Although it doesn't have all the comforts of a hotel stay, such as a pool or a front desk that is open 24 hours, it was centrally located to my conference and exceeded my expectations. I wasn't expecting much when I booked this inn on a recent trip to Boston with my husband. As soon as we walked in the door we couldn't believe how amazing this place was. The atmosphere is perfect, the room was large, and very clean, and the staff was wonderful. The inn is a very short walk away from the train and two short stops away from Fenway park. […] There is a cute patio in front with a few patio sets in and a nice deck out back. I am so pleased that I DID NOT listen to the ‘nay-sayers.’ The Longwood Inn is a charming and cozy inn that also happens to be the most economical deal in Boston. I admit that I was assigned one of the last few rooms that has YET to be remodeled. But the room and bathroom were VERY clean. Bed, pillows are firm which is what I prefer. The house is an […] older mansion, which gives it its charm, but the carpet does affect the air. I slept in a front facing room and opened 1 window just to have a nice breeze. I DO STRONGLY recommend that light sleepers request a back facing room. Rhonda and her business partner are two, kind, soft spoken individuals who make sure your stay is comfortable and safe. The cleaning staff is accommodating and attentive. I did not encounter the negative behavior that I read in a few bad reviews. The Inn does have a community kitchen that is well kept and comes with rules in order to maintain its cleanliness and efficiency. There is a laundry room, vending machine, balcony patio, flat screen TVs in every room, Wi-Fi throughout the house, and a large, wide lobby area to lounge in. I was told by the cleaning staff that they have remodeled all but a few rooms and are set to begin that later this year. ANOTHER SUGGESTION: When booking a back facing room, request that you get a room where the bed’s headboard is NOT on the wall that shares the hallway. That should ensure less noise in the evening. There are no mini-fridges or microwaves in the rooms; which are NOT needed. But the best deal of all: FREE ON-SITE PARKING. PLUS, there are two grocery stores within walking distance in case you do want to cook in the kitchen. If not, Harvard Street is a 7minute walk away: Harvard Street is 2 MILES of restaurants for ALL TASTES. An easy and pleasurable walk. You have “mom & pop shops” and national chains. There is even a Thai restaurant that has won “Zagat’s Best of Boston” both 2003 and 2005. Parking on Harvard Street is an absolute nightmare. So leaving the Lisateave

The hotel was clean and convenient to the T stop and to where my son was living. Free parking was a plus. Close to Northeastern and BU. If not familiar with the are, take a GPS. Rooms small but clean and recently refurbished, comfortable. Be ready for narrow stairs and no elevator. If you have problems climbing stairs, not the place for you. Office […] only open until 5 PM. All in all, a pleasant overnight budget stay at a small inn in Brookline. Inexpensive compared to the alternatives, smallish but nicely furnished third floor walkup room, helpful if charmingly quirky staff, safe and fairly convenient Brookline location. For a longer stay you could walk to Trader Joe's and buy your own food.

I really enjoyed staying at this quaint home-turned-inn in Brookline! The neighborhood is classic colonial Boston (Brookline to be exact) and is very scenic & relaxing. I stayed up in one of the single rooms on the 3rd floor - it was small but plenty of space for a single traveler. I didn't interact too much with the staff, but they were pleasant when […] talking to them. Most important to me, the Inn is only a 5 minute walk from the Longwood subway stop. It is also within walking distance of Fenway if you don't mind a 15-20 min walk. I would consider staying here again next time I visit Boston! Lisateave

Hotel is over-priced for the small room I had. While it was clean, there were no services available (breakfast, coffee, ice, water, turndown service) and staff were minimally friendly.

Located in a great neighborhood area. Great atmosphere, conveniently located near public transportation.

Hotel was going to put us in a basement room with a cot until we pushed to get a double -- we had 4 people. Hotel is antiquated with an inattentive staff. Daytime office person couldn't give us directions. It's really not a B&B. For the money, you should get at least continental breakfast. Instead, you get to use a kitchen, but have to label your food. […] Night manager, who often smoked in the parking lot and never smiled, gave me the willies. Lisateave

Very neat old wonky inn with nice rooms. Laundry, kitchen, fridge and freezer available. Very near T (metro train) line to Fenway and downtown Boston. Terrific staff not only made us feel welcome, but were especially accommodating, allowing our very dirty son (we had just picked up from Boy Scout Camp) to shower even though we were early for check in. […] Nice quiet neighborhood. when we got there our room was not cleaned yet, so we left and came back later. The staff was not very friendly. The air conditioner turned on and off all night and so did the bedside light-couldnt figure that one out.The room was beautiful and so was the hotel.

The place is charming. Beautiful neighborhood. Close and conducive to riding the "T" (subway), which we did, all over Boston. Also close and convenient to a plethora of restaurants at Coolidge Corner. I enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods of Brookline. I recommend the Longwood Inn heartily, and intend to stay there again, if I have an opportunity […] to do so. Lisateave

Longwood Inn is on average 2-3 blocks away from the Longwood Med. Center (Harvard Med School) which is very convenient for families of patients or people visiting the academic side of the institutions. There is no room service and the hotel staff leaves by 5pm every day. That said, there is a full service kitchen on the 1st floor for making your own […] meals. The Inn is right inside Coolidge Corner, so dining out is also an option, though there are only a handfull of places to eat there. The Inn is very close to 2 green lines making traveling around Boston very convenient. The Inn and rooms are clean. Very few amenities and the hotel cleaning staff is a little unprofessional (if they saw you in the hall way, they'd ask you to bring them your used towels to save them the time of getting them themselves). This is not an upscale Inn that feels like a hotel, it feels more like you are staying with your grandparents in their guest room. The fact that it's so close to everything and that it is clean, makes up for it if you are in Longwood on business or for family health issues. Lisateave

The Longwood Inn is very well located for visits to the hospitals and medical school and the small colleges nearby. It provides extremely convenient access to the Green Line of the MTA, and is also a decent walk to the Museum of Fine Arts. The community kitchen is a nice idea, but the capacity is so small that one small family eating breakfast means […] that you must hang out and wait to use it. The room was comfortable and plainly furnished. There was fairly little floor space, though adequate closet and dresser space. In all, the accommodations were clean and relatively comfortable, but did not offer much else beyond a great location. Lisateave

I knew this would not be a luxury accommodation but the mattress was so bad sleeping was almost immpossible. Don't stay here if you value sleeping.

Sehr ruhige und gute Lage mit prima Verkehrsanbindung zur Innenstadt, Zimmer absolut sauber und gut ausgestattet; vorhandene Gemeinschaftsküche hat alles, was man zum kochen, etc. braucht und das Ambiente desHauses ist sehr angenehm!
