It was good for the price , easy check in and out

The entire place has just been re-furbished so it is clean. The rooms are small but I didn't go to Las Vegas to stay in the room. This is 1 block from the Fremont Street Experience so as I am familiar with Las Vegas I was aware that the surrounding neighborhood is not the safest. You must be careful when downtown. This is my 3rd time staying at the Gold Spike. I arrived at 12:15 on Oct 30th and was accommodated even tho it was not 4PM. Stephanie at the Front Desk was professional and very personable. My room was clean and comfortable as always. I like the fact that they now have Card Key for the elevator. I was there in July 2011 and they did not have this […] feature. I don't mind getting ice at the bar.. every one is so nice, especially Heather. I love the Gold Spike and would stay no where else. I also won 60 dollars on The Wedding Party Slots as soon as I arrived! Don't let the Hater Reviews deter you from this fine Hotel if you are on a budget. Does having a swimming pool make you a resort?? Not for me. The employees we came in contact with were all VERY friendly and welcoming. However the dining room is FAR from pleasant and really this is just NOT a resort any way you look at it. Would have been worth the rate without the resort fee I guess.

The hotel lacked alot. There was no remote control for the television and the one that the front desk gave me didn't work. There was also no alarm clock in the room. The diner in the hotel had pleasant staff but undercooked pork. Overall only stay there if you can't afford better.

Great value hotel near downtown Las Vegas and near bus to The strip. It's newly remodeled so it feel nice. The pool is real cool also. It surprised me how nice it was for the priced I paid.

The rooms were newly renovated and clean. I was impressed. The parking is difficult, but valet services are provided. Not a 5 star hotel, but adequate for the money.

I had a nice stay at the Goldspike hotel. Small little place as compared to other hotels but easy to get around the bar was a great place to watch sports as they had a dozen or so flatscreens. We did not like this very much.We asked for non-smoking they send us to an all smoking floor, We asked for a king size bed they gave us two double beds. Crappy parking I could not see my car the whole night. And Location sucked

Stayed there from Saturday to Monday. Arrived Saturday evening around 630 to check in, no parking available what so ever and the only other parking available was down the street which was metered, so not convenient. When i arrived i checked in for both of the rooms that i reserved, i was notified at that time that the room i requested with two queen […] beds was not available which was not great news as two friends were sharing that room, one male and one female.... our rooms were near the pool area which looked like a 60's motel but had recently been re-done, the pool was beautiful, however it was a 2 story building with outside stairs and one elevator, which did not work. so needless to say we had to lug our luggage up 3 flights of stairs to our rooms. once i reached my room my key did not work so i had to go back down to the main building and stand in line again to correct by key. the rooms were clean and modern, had a 42 inch flat screen tv mounted to the wall but did not face the bed it faced north and south and the bed was faced east and west so you had to lay on ur side from the bed to watch the tv because it did not pull away from the wall and turn like most wall mounts allow. there were no hair dryers in the room and to use one you had to go down to registration and request one,. each time i went down there was never one available even at 1130 pm at night. same with the iron. MAID SERVICE NERVER CAME EITHER TO GIVE FRESH TOWELS.there were ice buckets in your room but no ice machine , you had to go down to the main hotel and go to the bar to have the ice bucket filled. if you played in the casino and won or needed to cash out you had to call service to have them pay you out in cash. Only one attendant working who spent most of her time talking to the pit manager. not a happy camper! i stayed at this hotel because it was last minute as my other reservations were at a hotel in henderson and since i was intown for the car show at the cashman center i needed to be c Lisateave

Upon checking in on Saturday I was informed that my hotel room was n`t ready even though it was already booked in advance. Secondly the front desk clerk was extremely rude towards me and lied to the manager regarding the room situation. Please don`t find out the hard way like I did there’s other options like the El Cortez Hotel and Casino!

My wife and I stayed 7 days at the Gold Spike. We were told it was renovated, so we booked our week. We arrived and found the Gold Spike to be a complete renovation of the old building. It was very nice too. I could not see any signs of the old building. Siegal Corporation did an excellent job. I also found the hotel staff to be very helpful, often […] offering to help. The restaurant staff was the most lively. Every meal we had there was entertaining. The hotel was a block away from the Fremont Experience. that was a lot of fun too. I have recommened the Gold Spike to friends and co-workers and to you. Lisateave

Anyone going tio Vegas must know that the downtown area is not the STRIP and has seen hard times.. I'm happy to say the area is coming back to life in a very positive way. The Gold Spike was a GREAT place to stay, and I've stayed at some of the best hotels. This place is way cool and the location is awsome. I truly can't wait to go back. nice pool, fine room, excellent television, adequate shower.quick elevator service. ice must be gotten from the casino bar. completely out of match books... little casino or bar activity. friendly, helpful staff. one night the cashier booth was mostly unattended. for the price-excellent.

I will never stay. I and my wife arrived at this hotel 2:00AM. We were exhausted and wanted to take a shower soon. But the shower didn't work well. I complained it to the front desk, but his response was there was no maintenance guy now and no more available room. This meant we couldn't take a shower until 8:00 in the morning when a maintenance came. I […] don't blame the front desk guy. He did his job I think. But the hotel should have a manual when this kind of situation happens. Lisateave

The surrounding area very run down. Drunk & homeless people roaming the streets. Had to get ice from bar in casino. It was a bother for the employees to stop what they were doing (even if it was NOTHING) to get some ice.

It was pretty good for what we needed the room for which was a place to sleep and clean up as we were there for a yearly pool tournament. Hotel service for room cleaning was great. The swimming pool was private and nice. Decent security was there. The restaurant had great meals but their advertised prime rib was horrible. It had so much gristle in it […] and was really tough to chew....I would not order that again!! I do feel like they could have had a coffee pot and hair dryer would have been nice ammenities to have in the room. Overall a very nice place to stay! Lisateave

There are no refrigerator no hair dryer and no microwave, these abscent services made our days hard

My family and I had the worst experience at this hotel. The location was close to Fremont Street, however it was in a very dirty, ghetto area. We had to call security because there were strange people walking around the very small parking lot looking inside our truck & other cars parked. If you just need a place to sleep you can not get any better than this. The reates are very reasonable. Hotel Pros: Small, pool, internet connection, cafe, gameing, close to downtown, comfortable beds. Hotel Cons: Limited parking, sometimes only one elevator is working, slight smell in rooms from air conditioner.

I was dissapointed by the way the hotel desk girls treated the guests,that there was only one entrance to the rooms by the pool. And having to have a casino attendant cash you out instead of printing a voucher. The pool was nice. Bottom line for the price it was ok but next time I would rather spend more for a better place.

We decided to extend our stay in Vegas and take advantage of the cheap rooms at Gold Spike. We expected the worst, and the elevators have certainly seen better days. But the rooms themselves were clean, cool and well-apportioned. The Golden Grill is open 24 hours and has a comprehensive menu, but doesn't deliver to the room--takeout ended up being our […] mode of choice. The food was good when it was good (crispy perfect fries!), but we suspect corners were cut quietly on several occasions (nuked rubbery fries!?). The only glaring problem happened our last day. We took advantage of the $10 deal (normally $20) for late check-out (4pm instead of 11 am). But we were disturbed twice before 4 pm - once by the front desk and once by housekeeping. Thankfully, once we asked, the charge for the late check out was removed. But before that, we were a little insulted along with our injury because our key cards were deactivated after 11 - a little tidbit that wasn't communicated when we checked in or at any time during our stay. As long as the hotel staff can improve communication, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is one block from Fremont Street (and the awesome light show), but that one block is a little sketchy at night. Nothing frightening, but still requiring a bit of consciousness - I would not recommend getting blitzed on Fremont and stumbling home alone. Lisateave

The hotel was ok and the room clean, they didn't give us enough towels and we had to keep asking for them. The parking was the only bad part-not enough spots to accomidate.

Perfect place to stay and be able to get in and out easy and be on Fremont Street in a minute. My wife and I like the savings and the area for the food and games. We feel safe here and the staff is friendly and helpful in all our needs.

walk one block to Fremont Street. Room was very nice & modern decor. Great price.

We got a good deal on this hotel. It was not one that we would have wanted but at 65% off it was a good deal. Location was ideal. Not far from Fremont experience. A 24 hour Walgreen was a block away. We had a car so getting around was easy. If you dont have a car it is really too far from the strip.

I didn't like that the hotel had no dresser or an extra table and chair. Also the bathroom didn't even have a counter, so you could not even put all your accessories in the bathroom.

It was clean and had a modern-renovated feel. However, the door was almost impossible to open am close and the phone was broken. I asked for it to be fixed for a wake-up call but it was 2 am at that point. The front desk offered to have security come to wakee at 8 am. I agreed but noone ever showed at 8. I awoke by chance at 830 and was almost late […] to work!!! Other than this, the pool was cute, the location was ideal, and the room was clean.... Just bring an alarm clock. Lisateave

Stayed the night to visit Fremont Street. The room looked remodeled and was nice. Only complaints were that you had to walk to the casino bar to get ice from the bartender, the bathroom was a little dirty, and the bed was very hard. Other than that it was good. Nice cause it was very close to Fremont Street

Minus not having a fridge or microwave in the room, this hotel was amazing! hotel staff was EXTREMELY helpful and courteous, they alone made my stay worth it. the rooms were newly refurbished and were extremely clean. Very nice.

Have to admit wasn't expecting such a nice room for what I paid...awesome :)

I enjoyed my stay at the gold spike, it was conveniently located close to the speedway for my EDC weekend. The staff was great, the hotel restaurant was cheaply priced with good food and a friendly staff. I got ticket on sale, and the hotel rooms worth more than price. For the bus stop was so close, my family took a bus and travel around the city.

While it is a small hotel the service is great, location works well for a downtown wedding , Food is ok and we all had a good time in the pool

The 24hour Prime Rib special was a bonus!

COULD NOOOOOOTTT FIND PARKING! Internet pictures were deceiving! But we still had fun kuz I was with my Awesome husband! Make sure you request a Poolside room. you do not want to be in the tower..... Casino is small, but fun and the bar is nice. The grill is adequate. sportsbook onsite, blackjack, slots...sketchy neighborhood, but one block from Fremont and the other big hotels.

This hotel is good and rather than cheap. But It's too far with main strip.

The room was right off Fremont St which was convenient and had the only free parking within the area that I knew of. The room itself seemed clean, except the tub had dirt and grime all over it, and when I called for someone to come clean it I was ignored. I had to get a towel and handsoap and scrub it myself. Decent no frills at all. Decent pool, just located in an undesirable neighborhood.

if you're looking for the Vegas Experience, while also not wanting to worry about all the tourists, this is the place to go for sure! Good food, good location, friendly places, etc.
