Much better on the pics. Did receive some renovations recently, but some still is required (specially on the bathrooms).

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Located across the street from the beach and ten minutes from St. Lawrence Gap ( where all the action is). All they need is a bar, which I believe they were building while I was there. Overall very nice.

We enjoy our stay at the South Beach Hotel. The suite was clean and comfortable,the staff was very helpful and pleasant. We had a great time.

Every hotel has its good points and its bad points. I would have to say that this one is probably right in the middle. In a nutshell, the good points are the staff, the location, and rooms, and the main bad point was the never ending disco thumping from the avant-garde restaurant at the base of the hotel. It’s not as if there was a dance club downstairs, […] they just kept the volume up at the open air bar. The restaurant is an Asian influenced bistro but we tried only the appetizers with drinks, so I don’t know what dinner is like. In my view, the music and the restaurant are not exactly co-mingling as far as vibe goes. The design of the place is modern and well conceived but it is clear that the building was renovated as some of the older things are still around dragging the place down a little. The kitchenettes are older but well stocked with dishes, glasses and utensils. The Pool is minimalist to say the least, but with the stunningly azure Caribbean accross the street, who really cares? I don’t like to read reviews that nit pick and bash, bash, bash but I have a few peeves that brought the rating down. Like the saying goes; “it’s the little things” There is a coffee maker in the room that takes coffee packets, but they don’t provide the coffee packets! Instant only bah!! Cream? Forget it! The tub USED to be a whirlpool, but ours had long since been disabled. They CHARGE to use the computer and internet access. Come on, it’s 2011! Who waits to check in at the airport? Not only that, the computer is a 486 mhz. (Just Kidding) And finally, I asked for an extra set of towels, for the morning as we were checking out early and the towels provided were used up after post beach showers. The staff person actually said that this was not possible! We would need to wait till the next day! Did I mention we were checking out early? All in all it was a decent place and I would probably recommend it to others who travel with a packet or two of coffee. Lisateave

We enjoyed our stay at the SB, the hotel was clean staff was friendly (Restaurant attached was no so friendly) the pool was great for our 6 year old son and the beach with great waves was just accross the street...A large fastfood restaurant was next door with a huge play indoor play area for kids(Chefette like a McDonalds ) so it's alway busy. It is […] in a very car busy area but we loved it lots to do. There is a great boardwalk on the beach and it is great for a morning run or late night stroll. The room was clean and had a nice little kitchen. The convience store next door is pricey...I would recommend to go to the large supermarket ask front desk. Easy to get to Bridgetown on the ZR or city bus. We would go back... Lisateave

Hotel was nice, and kept very clean. Great location along the south coast, and because it wasn't directly on the beach it was an amazing value. Would highly recommend.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in Barbados, near a beach, near a few restaurants and grocery store, with in-room kitchen facilities, this is a good option. It is somewhat loud and feels urban. So if you want a peaceful blissful hotel where you walk out of your room onto the beach, dig deep in your wallet and choose another […] hotel. If you are traveling with a family and are on a budget, this is a good place to call home for your visit. Rockley beach is just across the street. It's a beautiful beach. Super family accessible. Buses and taxis are easy to catch from this location, taking you anywhere on the island for a day trip. The hotel staff is extremely helpful facilitating tour bookings. The kiddie end of the pool is just right for young kids if you want to take a dip. We had a great stay and it was just what we needed. We went into it with our eyes open, however. Don't expect a beach resort. Expect a hotel with a pool near a beach. You'll be satisfied. Lisateave

The pictures and overall positive reviews had me expecting a nice resort. What I got was a glorified motel across the street from a public beach. The surrounding area and restaurants are outrageously expensive, and it seems like every other building is abandoned along the boardwalk. The room itself was very clean, and it is relatively nice compared […] to the surrounding motels. The rooms all face the ocean, but far enough away that if you are anywhere but the top 2 floors, you probably won't have a nice view. Traffic noise from a major street in front of the hotel is a nuisance, but not as annoying as the outdoor bar music that is directly outside of the rooms. We were a bit skeptical about not booking an all-inclusive resort but once we arrived at South Beach, those concerns went away. The room was very spacious and well kept. Our room had a great balcony. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Some may think that the pool is "oddly positioned" as it is located in front of the hotel but directly accross […] the street is Rockley/Accra Beach where beach chairs are available for rent for $5 US. Quayside is a mini mall next door to the hotel which houses a convenience store, souvenir shop, pizza shop, chinese restaurant, coffee shop and a host of other stores. A few blocks to the left of the hotel is a place called Berts (similar to an Applebee's). The taxi stand is across the street, as is the local bus stops. It is very easy to get around from this hotel. The hotel has a shuttle that takes you into Bridgetown on specific days of the week. It's also about a 10 minute ride (25 minute walk if you like to walk) to the St. Lawrence Gap where there are a number of restaurants and bars. Overall we had a fantastic time in Barbados!!!! A good beach is directly across the street. The room was large, included a kitchenette, had a large comfortable bed (though the linens weren't that nice), and a balcony overlooking the road and onto the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful. The in room air conditioning worked well enough but was difficult to understand. They could do a better job […] providing local orientation materials, but when asked about things they were generally clear and helpful. The taxi stand across the street from the entrance is a bit noisy - every time you enter and return you'll be propositioned for a taxi by taxi drivers who seem to spend nearly all of the day sitting with one another under a shade tree. This scene along with the street can create some street noise. I'm a fairly light sleeper, but with our balcony sliding glass doors shut wasn't really bothered (thought I do think I was awakened one morning). There are quite a number of casual and nicer restaurants along with a supermarket within walking distance in either direction. Also, the various buses are widely available, whether the big blue buses or the fixed route "ZR (Zed R)" shared taxis that run between Bridgetown and Silver Sands miles to the east. Lisateave

Close to the beautiful Accra Beach. View to the beach from hotel-terrace. Some traffic noise, but no problem to sleep. Not so many restaurants in the area. Godd bus- communicatioen

Staff molto cortese e disponibile. Wi-fi gratuito molto apprezzato, buone le dotazioni della camera, spaziosa e con tutto il necessario ( kitchenette, letto king, zona salotto, tavolo , balcone lato mare). La posizione è ok come vicinanza alla spiaggia e ai ristoranti, però la strada sotto l'albergo è veramente molto rumorosa ( tutti i taxi che passano […] lì sotto suonano il clacson a tutte le ore del giorno e della notte), così come molto rumoroso è il ristorante sotto l'hotel , il Fusion, che mette musica simil-techno a alto volume tutte le sere ( e in genere lo stesso CD almeno tre sere di fila) Sapevamo che l'hotel non era sul mare, e che la strada era lì, però non avevamo messo in conto un tale livello di rumore. E' un peccato perchè veramente lo staff fa tutto il possibile per rendere il soggiorno gradevole ( al di là del punteggio dell'hotel , darei il massimo dei voti allo staff). Lisateave

Local excelente, tem absolutamente tudo perto. O atendimento é muito bom (embora quem realmente se supera é a Sherrita, muito amavel e prestativa). O quarto não é luxuoso, mas confortável e bem equipado.
