Collins Hotel - Miami rand

usually the hotels in Miami are horrible! Even hotels in Northeast of Brazil are better...But we were very surprised and pleased with Collins hotels.The cleanest hotel in Miami that I have seen so far.

Collins Hotel was a good hotel to stay at especially for the price. We booked out room through hotels.com and we got it for $523.31 for 4 nights and 5 days. The hotel was recently renovated so everything inside was great. From the outside its looks as if it is a little run down but actually its clean inside. It was me and 2 of my friends and we had […] a King room which came with a couch bed so we were good to go. The room had a refrigerator, and a microwave which came in handy. There were good restaurants around and a walgreens located at the corner just in case you forgot something. About 2 blocks there was a grocery store also. I liked the Collins hotel and I would recommend to a friend. What I didnt like was the fact at checkout they have the maid to check the room tomake sure everything is ok. Well we got a little make-up on the comforter. They tried to charge us for it but we showed them that the make-up came out and so they went and washed the comforter to make sure, luckily our flight left that night so we were able to stay around the area until they washed it and as I knew it would the make-up came out. It was a great hotel for the price and I liked it just tile floors no carpet. Lisateave

Excellent little hotel. Rooms are nice and clean, parking is gated and safe, and beach is only few shirt steps away. Will definitely come back.

Overall the stay was fine. Other than the one issue with our key card not working when we first got it, it was uneventeful. Just a few changes to this hotel would make it better. There are no shelves in the bathroom for you to place your toiletries just a small sink. There is no bathtub and the shower consists of a curtain around a drain on the floor. […] There is no full body mirror for the wife to check out her outfit before heading out. We decided to spend 3 nights in Miami . Hotel was priced at 149$ a night. Very clean but nothing spectacular in the rooms, little to pricey for what it offered. Theses rooms should go for 100$ max. Problem was that we had extremely noise guests next door. hotel has policy to kick out guests that have repeated noise complaints, displayed on the check […] in counter, but they did not follow through with their policy.we were the unlucky ones that had trashy springbreakers from Queens, NY , next door that partied non stop from 10pm until 4 am...... Called front desk several times. No success!!! I know it's spring break, but other hotels have disclaimer that room might be loud. This hotel did not. Otherwise, 3 min to beach, tons of small stores and restaurants close by. About 10 min north of South Beach. Lisateave

When I arrived at the Collins Hotel I was surprised to find out that my room was a lot larger than I had imagined for the price I had paid. It fit myself and 3 friends perfectly. The bathroom was a little cram, but other than that the area was spacious. The staff at the front desk were decent...not super nice, but not rude either. We stayed for 4 nights […] and the 2nd day we were there the housekeeper didn't come to our room (the hotel isn't very big) until around 5:00 p.m. At that point we were all back in the room and it wasn't worth it for them to clean up. From that point on we just left our "Do Not Disturb" sign up. We did; however, ask for extra towels...in which we were given a few, but along with it they gave us a little notecard saying "To save water..try to use less towels"....The location was pretty good...about a block away from the beach, which was really nice. There aren't a lot of places to eat around the hotel though...only a few decent restaurants. Walgreens and Publix is conveniently located near the hotel. The walls seemed a bit thin...my friends and I had literally walked into the door at 12am and immediately..and I mean immediately...the phone rang with a noise complaint. I could also hear the next door snore in the middle of the night. Overall it was a pretty good hotel for the price I paid. Lisateave

Not wanted to spend an arm and a leg, I found this hotel. It's a tad away from the SBe crowds, but if you have a car you can easily get to Lincoln Road or the convention center. Check-in was smooth, room was quite small even though was 'Premium King'... the bed was quite stiff,nearing to the hard side. Parking is reasonable, have to around the hotels in front to get to the beach but not a big deal, plenty of shops and places to eat within walking distance. I'd stay there again.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and during my stay, I found the hotel's interior to be very clean. The lobby is chic and comfortable with its several leather sofas and the rooms are newly renovated and clean. My premium king size bed room was kind of small when compared to other 3 star hotels but it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable; […] the ac worked well; the refrigerator was adequate; and the flat screen tv was nice. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided. Hot water was available mostly in the evenings and early morning. There are no microwaves or irons in the rooms. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. The place is nice, clean, has a friendly staff. Julian rocks!!! It's an older hotel it's not fancy but gives you peace of mind and meets basic needs. The beds and sheets are comfy and good quality. Nice bathrooms. The only cons would be: Tile floors and loud closing doors and hallway noise. If you need smthng and if you are in a hurry you'd better learn Spanish. On the other hand, they were doing their best to help. The rooms are good but the walls are not thick. That can be a problem.

Supposed free inernet in the room didn't work whole stay there. A journalist had the same problem and wasn't best pleased. Had to go to reception to get internet. Staff was less then helpful. One mirror in whole room. Noisy. Bad service all around. Bad view of back alley. Had to move rooms mid stay as shower and toilet both plugged. Then in new room […] sink didn't drain propery. One mirror in whole room. Due to bad service of staff...only one member was ok at best. Saw staff members on their mobile phones dressed in street clothes at the front desk. The hotel is located at 67th street which is more than 20mins drive from the 15th street. So, location is not fantastic and there near-by amenities are limited to a Walgreens and 2 pizza shops. The hotel does NOT provide breakfast and Microwave. The hotel is noisy as the walls between rooms are really thin. YOu can practically clear the conversation […] from the next room. Most importantly, cleaning is limited to making the bed and leaning the bathroom. The floors are not swept and table not cleaned. Moreover, reception staff in day are not friendly to guests. I had to drag my suitcase up a flight of stairs to get to my part of the hotel. Elevator was not working most of the time I was there. Pulled suitcase up two flights of stairs. Room was right by elevator, there was a bell ringing every time it went up and down and got to each floor....how many bell rings is that per night? Collins was a good hotel. It was as close to the beach as you'd desire without having to pay for a view. The neighborhood was well north of the more populated ones, so it was quiet without being too far out of the way. The beach was more sparsely populated and quiet. If you come to Miami for the weather and beach, but aren't into the night life, then […] this is the place for you. Regarding the hotel, our shower did not drain upon arrival, however, a maid was at our door within (literally) seconds of alerting the front desk. After a good plunging, all was well. My friends and I stayed at the Collins for 4 days as a part of trip around Florida. Compared to other hotels where we stayed around Florida for similar costs, the Collins hotel was a cut above in terms of cleanliness and the quality of service. The only downside was that an extra rollaway bed costs extra and the hotel is a bit away from the hustle and […] bustle of the South beach (i.e. Ocean drive and the busy part of Collins ave).
