Sahara Star - Mumbai

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last year. Unfortunately it seems that each time the overall stay is getting worse, and I will struggle to justify returning. On this occasion I arrived at 1:30am and went to my room to find it was different to what I had booked. I informed reception and they told me they could not change it as […] all other rooms were booked out (even though my room type was clearly stated on my reservation). I had to debate with the staff before they would shift me to the correct room, and the next morning it was obvious that the hotel was far from full. Not impressed at all! Lisateave

The hotel itself is impressive in parts, however they are undergoing refurbishments in the hotel which meant that some parts were closed, which was not mentioned at time of booking. One of the restaurants called Mubarak was absolutely faultless in terms of service and food, and deserves a mention. Staff at reception however leave a lot to be desired […] and need further training in customer service. An example is when you ask a simple enough question you get passed around the entire reception area before you might get any sort of answer to your query. Location for the domestic airport and even international is great. To get around the city you can take the hotel car which i think is a bit expensive, however if you choose to take a local taxi or auto rickshaw be prepared to be taken around the long route to your destination, as the meter clocks up the miles, hence the cost of your journey. To end on a positive note, the rooms are very modern, clean and spacious and have great digital fetaures as well as a great indoor balcony overlooking the entire hotel. Lisateave

The hotel offers a safe haven in a very busy citty, the staff are very helpful and friendly. All this comes at a price which, in my opinion, is too high. This hotel would be highly recommended if the rates were reduced or if meals were included.

It is not a business hotel but a marriage party hotel. They had loud music going on till midnight with fire works and despite complaints they were trying to appease me with coffee when I wanted to sleep. the guest relations could not understand that caffeine would make it worse for me.

This hotel is beautiful. Comfy rooms and amazing set up but it is always under elements of renovation! I has to get a massage in a bed room rather than the spa as its being worked on. Make sure you eat at ocean! It's amazing

This hotel has been in a state of repair for quite some time....but if you can overlook the exterior fascade and the dirty hallway carpet, the rooms are beyond oppulent. Good location within walking distance ( 5 minutes) of the Domestic Air terminal. Also within walking distance (15 minutes) of Ville Parle train station. Constant smell of smock in "non-snacking" room (hotel?) very unpleasant. A few malfunctionis - broken toilet seat, not usable shaving mirrow - were promptly fixed - it would be good not to have them in the beginning. Perfect for an early morning flight from the domestic airport. Very high quality maintained, The Big NO however is the noise from the restaurants that is heard in all the rooms. If you are looking for a whisper quiet room, then look elsewhere.

The hotel provided a wheelchair for my overnight use (I use crutches during day). The wheelchair brakes were defective (useless really) and the wheel rims dirty. So inspect the wheelchair before use. The hotel was very nice and very comfortable- the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel was expensive and the tax you have to pay on the services was a bit too high. The food in the restaurant was very nice and the staff are very helpful. This hotel has essentially all what you need and would expect from a 5*. However, the concept of having a noisy cafe/restaurant area playing music until 10-11 pm is completely no-go for me. And there is no way to avoid it as all room face the atrium/dome. Next time in Mumbai I would definitely choose another hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sahara. We were met at the airport by friendly and accomodating hotel staff and taken directly to the hote. The checkin process was easy and quick. The Sahara is an oasis in Mumbai!! The interior of the hotel is absolutly amazing. The staff were super friendly, professional and helpful. The operations manager made a […] point of getting to know us and made it a very personal experience. Our host "Hazel" looked out for all our needs and made our stay delightful. "Dashwijith" made our dining experiences superb. His wit and charm cannot not be overstated. Huge, well appointed, very clean room, with balcony facing a "tropical" swimming-pool complex; excellent breakfast and exceptionally good thoughvery pricy Indian dinner. Very convenient for Mumbai's domestic airport (literally across the street), which is why we chose it in the first place.

A 5 start hotel with local management. Things seem a bit worn out in the room. 5 start pricing but not so much up to 5 start quality. A good Indian restaurant for Andhra Pradesh regional cuisine but a bit expensive. Spent almost USD40 for a bottle of beer, a curry chicken main course with naan. The WIFI did not work for my network but it did work […] for the notebook of hotel IT support staff. Don not understand why but it caused inconvenience to me. One good thing is hotel offered me an unexpected complementary car service to the airport , which was much appreciated at a very late evening. The hotel is located near the domestic airport in Mumbai. In Mumbai you have to plan your stays very strategically. If you are staying in one area, getting to another place may take quite a lot of time (anywhere from 30mins to 1 hr 30 mins). The hotel is getting a bit run down. The food is still pretty good. Well connected by train and road as compared to other hotel areas in the suburbs. If you cannot afford a place downtown, this is your best bet. Hotel had really nice and helpful staff, security was very good, room was clean and comfortable. We even go to see fashion shows during the Bridal Fashion week as it took place on the hotel grounds.

The hotel is definitely not qualified to be a 5 star. It has very unkept bathrooms and the bed was hard and tiny. It has no where to buy food... only 2 very expensive buffet style restaurants or you can order from the menu. There is no where to just buy soda or water or snacks etc. The pool is tiny as well as the gym... it is definitely not qualified […] to be called a 5 star hotel.
