The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta - Puerto Vallarta

Upon check-in we were given a room on the 2nd floor, which we were not told is the "smoking floor." We are non-smokers. We went into our room and it smelled horrible and was completely dirty. On top of that, we paid for an ocean view and you could barely see water. We then asked for a different room not only for cleanliness/smell but one with an "ocean […] view." The second room was still incredibly dirty (we did make sure to ask if these rooms had already been cleaned & the staff assured us that yes they were cleaned) so we refused. I understand that right now we sound very snobby, but it was our Honeymoon and we spent extra to have extra, not a dirty room. Our bellman is the one staff member who worked with the front-end and helped us get a clean room with an ocean view. After looking at 4 different rooms we found a room we could actually feel comfortable sleeping in, and it was relieving. The hotel is nice, but it definitely needs updates. The showers/bathtubs & the bathrooms are a bit grimy and could use some remodeling, but we were comfortable. Although, I wouldn’t take a bath in the bathtub put it like that. The pools are okay. What was nice is that kids mainly stayed in the first pool, and the adults without kids went to the second. There are no infinity pools or pool-activities of any kind, so my husband was bummed. Actually there were no activities of any sort, which can be a bit boring unless you just like to bake in the sun for the entire day, each day. We went next door to Club Regina and used that pool a couple days (the two hotels are pretty much joined just separated at night by a gate). Club Regina has a nicer pool with a little more going on. The beach wasn't what I expected from previous beaches we’ve visited in Mexico. It was nice and sandy but tons of peddlers selling the many beach items and jewelry walking back and forth all day. The rooms are very nice! Everyone was accommodating. The downside was the cost of food/drinks. The am buffet (although amazing and super tasty) was like $30 per person. Overall I would stay there again, just either get an all inclusive package or go out of the hotel to eat.

Hotel was very nice. Staff was great. And the walking distance Marina area that didn’t seem to be mentioned on the web site was very nice also. 15 minute cab ride to the Malecon. Read the www site carefully the ocean side restaurant was closed and the oceanfront pergola are not free. The facility is 18 years old and in great shape, the web site photos […] are also 18 years old. Hotel had no selling pressure for anything which was nice. Aside from being assigned the wrong room upon check in, the stay was very nice.

We booked two rooms for six days, the service was poor, we would return to our rooms everyday after 5 after being out all day and they still had not been cleaned, the rooms were never clean, the sheets were not changed for our entire stay, the coffee maker was never cleaned I would use it in the morning and have to clean it the next morning. We would […] have to call for towels every day because the room wasn't cleaned before going to dinner, we would leave the room around 6:30 and still no one had cleaned our room or our kids room, when I complained I was told that it would be taken care of the next day but it never was. There were hardly enough loungers by the pool or by the beach. Only one restaurant opened and again the food nor the hotel was not up to the quality of a Westin Hotel. I spoke to the manager various times, but it made no difference. This has definitely changed my opinion of the Starwood Hotels and their service, and I don't see my family or friends returning to any of their properties Lisateave

We didn't know what hotel to book when we planned our trip to PV, but after reading a bunch of reviews and looking at prices this was the best option. The hotel is very clean and the pool was very nice. The beach was so so and we really didn't spend any time on it. It is about 180 pesos from the airport by local taxi and 80 pesos to the Malicon district […] which has tons of bars and restaurants. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay. Lisateave

The buffet could be less expensive!

Everything was super from the Staff on down,the room was well maintained,the staff was friendly and very helpful with a lot of suggestions about the different sights to see.I give this a 5 star rating...

Unfortunately everything, clothes in wardrobe, papers magazines in the room became damp because of the overall humidity. Even an unopened packet of mints became slush. However the breakfast restaurant staff were really great as was breakfast. Evening meal was just ok. The pool and outside areas were lovely.and cared for constantly. An exceptional experience with great attention paid to detail. It's wonderful that the entire staff is trained with "Welcome home". I tend to be hypercritical having been in hotel, food and beverage and tourism, but all-in-all this is an excellent vacation resort. Does not compare well with other places I have stayed there in the last 23 years

I booked the Royal Club for 4 nights and it was fantastic. I got a room on the top floor and had access to the lounge that served free breakfast and happy hour. I also got a $200 food credit on top of it. It was well worth the price. The staff were very friendly with lots of attention to detail. In particular, Angel, Lino and the doorman (sorry, I forgot […] your name) were very helpful and they remembered my name too. I will be back for sure. Lisateave

It was a plesure to stay in that hotel, totally recomendable.

To be quite honest ,the service at the front desk was horrible. Angel was the person who assisted me in checking in...very confrontational. I understand the patience needed with little language and cultural barrier...but his comments were uncalled for and not appreciated. Everytime i needed something from the front desk..the first wrods out of his mouth […] were " whats the problem now"...for this reason and this reason alone, I would never recomment this hotel..too many other quality properties availble in the area. Obviously this hotel is in trouble.There were just a handful of guests in high season while the nearby Velas Vallarta was booming with conventioneers, weddings and timeshare people. First the good: Nice linens and very comfortable pillow-topped beds. Nice staff. Good workout facility with a large room for stretching, another with machines. Really good […] hamburgers and entrees at dinner. Now the disappointing: No real beach for walking and the water was scummy and filthy from the Marina. Getting anything...from a coffee pot to the coffee to the creamers/sugars, took mulitiple phone calls to the front desk. When they would finally bring one of the several items we requested, someone would immediately call the room to confirm that it came. This was annoying after awhile as it seemed they wanted to be congratulated for finally delivering one part of our request. Everywher ethere wa evidence of cheaping out including permanent-looking signs on things like water dispensers that were "out of order." How can you not have a water dispenser in a fitness center? Especially one that requires only that a jug of water be placed in it? We got one tiny bar of soap (For two women sharing a room) and a little bottle of shampoo. This was to last 5 days. No other amenities in the room--not even a shower cap. Very few towels and they didn;t replace the ones we used. One day they took away the bath mat but didn't leave another one and that took several calls. We finally had to request it directly from the maid by hanging out in the room until she came. Otherwise we would have had to use one of our two remaining bath towels. On the other hand, they charged a fortune for things like a very small amount of no-name wine ($9.00/glass). Hamburgers were $15...you get the picture. We didn't go all inclusive but that would not have been a good deal either as none of us could eat or drink enough to justify the cost. They charge $2.50 for the keycards and if you request a duplicate it immediatel Lisateave

The Westin is well maintained and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. We only stayed there for 1 night because we checked into our timeshare the next day. Great room for the price.

All the good things we were expecting from the hotel were the things we got. Excellent!

Very clean, bed is really comfortable worth your time if you want to relax, great service in room and at pool

This hotel is ridic. I have been a starwood member for a long time. My experience at this hotel has made me vow to never stay at ANY starwood hotel ever again. It is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Service was aweful, front desk was totally incompent, toliet in room was clogged...they never would come to fix it....all of this and the […] hotel was empty...lots of workers there shuffeling paper but not doing any actual work. This is Mexico but still...I would stay at a cabanas or smaller place for a fraction of the price if I wanted no service, etc... Lisateave

The Westin was in a decent location in the Marina but 15 minutes from downtown. The main thing was that their main pool was under construction as well as the club level lounge, which we spent extra money to be a part of with free breakfast & happy hour. The customer service was not great regarding communicating within their staff on how or where to […] relocate us to a new bar / restaturant to accomodate our club level lounge being under construction. Things seemed to be getting old. My iron fell apart when i was getting ready, the doors didn't fit well, etc. I wouldn't stay here again. Lisateave

El hotel está en un proceso de mantenimiento profundo, dado que se descuidó por algunos años. El lugar es muy bonito. Habitación totalmente nueva. El sábado hubo tres bodas simultánea en los jardines del hotel, lo cual hace que sea un poco ruidoso. El personal se esmera en proporcionar el mejor servicio. Creo que si los precios de los alimentos fueran un poco mas accecibles, los huespedes optarián por permanecer en el hotel, y no buscar otras opciones de alimentos

Muy buen servicio, el restaurante riquisimo, En general recomendable mas para parejas o hijos mayores, no tiene club de niños.

El hotel esta agradable, solo que las instalaciones son un poco viejas y le falta mantenimiento, y el minibar es muy caro cobran hasta el cafe.

Nos quedamos 3 noches 4 dias en marzo y la verdad que la pasamos excelente. El servicio es magnifico y las habitaciones estan recien remodeladas con un muy buen gusto, modernas y comodas. Las albercas estan a una buena temperatura y el gimnasio esta muy completo. Lo unico negativo es que cobran por el servicio de internet y ademas a un precio caro.

mi cuarto tenia cucarachas fui a reportarlas para que fumigaran estaban en el piso muertas y ni las barrieron dure 2 dias para que furan a sacarlas del cuarto me vendieron hotel de 4 estrellas y creo que no era ni de 2. la atencion del restaurant .fue excelente.

Me parece increíble que un hotel de este nivel utilice sabanas con poliester en lugar de 100% algodón. Las sabanas demerita todo el esfuerzo de mantenimiento que es extraordianrio. El dormir con este tipo de sabanas me oblign a no regresar nunca mas a este hotel por que la vez anterior que me hospedé hice el mismo comentario y evidentemente no hicieron […] caso. Lisateave

excelente hotel solo que ya necesita remodelacion del bar de la alberca se ve viejo y mal aspecto. me paso un detalle desagradable me hicieron un cargo del serbi bar que no tome me lo bonificaron pero tube que hablar con el gerente y para colmo olvide mi camar fotografica en la habitacion hable por telefono pero no la reporto el servcio de limpieza […] mal punto pero lo demas muy bien Lisateave

El hotel esta bien ubicado. La playa no es muy bonita. La comida es cara y no hay muchas opciones en el restaurante de playa del hotel. Tienen muy buen gimnasio.

cuando hable con el operador no fue claro en el paquete y habia otro que me convenia mas. en la habitacion no ponian suficientes toallas para los huspedes teniamos que estarlas pidiendo
