Well looked after by great staff, food was tasty if not a little pricey, we were staying for a couple of evening before we got the keys to our new home, we choose there so myself and my 13 year old son could swim in the evening, what we didnt know was he is only allowed in between certain hours which finished at 5pm so no evening swim for us after school/work […] was disapointed with this as we had choosen a hotel with a pool for that very reason. Not that impressed, as only staying one night didn't experience the leisure facilities which I am sure are great and is why the hotel is pricey. Rooms not great, television not well tuned and remote didn't work, toilet wouldn't flush without many attempts. Restaurant food was very poor, did mention this when checking out. The rooms were fine but lacked basic additions such as shampoo etc. We needed to get wine glasses from reception. We were on the ground floor near to reception and there was a great deal of noise from passing residents during the early hours of the morning. Party was excellent with a lovely carvery buffet. i have stayed here many times over the last 6 years , each visit gets it goes down each time , rooms well overdue a refit , my bath leaked at had done many times are bottom of bath room door rotton , rush stains in bath , wet ceiling etc etc . i want be staying again until a major refit has been carried out as very overpriced now for what you get , […] and food !! another subject but not good . De vere seem to have a policy of running hotels into the ground before a re-fit not just here but at many of their other villages , however this one is wins. Lisateave

Hotel was a little dated. Room was very clean, comfy and a good size. Bed was very relaxing- had a fabulous nights' sleep for once. Breakfast was good, although more choice of juice would have been nice. Only negative was the room had a connecting door to the next room. Although there was a functioning bolt on the door, as there wasn't a wall there […] it did let through more noise that we would have expected. Luckily they went out early and were quiet when they returned so it wasn't a problem for us. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about local nearby trains into liverpool as well as having a map of the city. I stay at the Village in Whiston on a weekly basis. I used the pool for the first time last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very good amenities with sauna/steam and jacuzzi! Staff are friendly and service is good. I find the beds very comfortable and always opt for a king size room. Either eat in the pub or eat in the restaurant. Also, a cafe next to […] the fitness centre. Plenty of choice when it comes to dining. One thing I have an issue with at times is the food. Only a samll issue when ordering a salad with my main meal instead of chips/potatoes is that the salad can be poor and I have often just had a bowl of lettuce leaves brought out to me with no dressing, or once it was covered in melted butter! Not a great taste! Overall, I enjoy staying in this hotel and will continue to do so but may ask for a better mix of salad in future! Lisateave

Stayed here in early January, so the hotel was quite quiet. I have stayed in a number of different Village hotels in the past. While my stay was enjoyable enough, it was clear that this hotel isn't as 'new and flashy' as some of the other Village hotels around the UK. It just seemed apparent that this was an old hotel, which had been refurbished at […] some point into the Village style - compared to others that seem purpose built. That said, I cant really complain too much about any particular aspects. Service was a bit slow in the restaurant, but I think the waitress was new and was still learning the ropes. Had a rump steak which was part of the early-bird menu, but wasn't overly impressed with the meat itself. Breakfast seemed a bit limited too. Gym was OK and pool was good. Welcoming staff, excellent gym facilities, convenient location. The only problem which I experienced during my stay, was the noise insulation between rooms. If you have the misfortune of a staying in a room which has an adjoining door, you'll probably find that you can hear everything (without exception) which occurs in your neighbour's room. Went for a 'king' and had a lovely big room. But TV had only 2 channels that were clear. Nice pool & leisure facilities. Breakfast was fine but ordered room service in the evening & it was pretty terrible. Lovely helpful staff on reception though, great welcome & very chatty.

There are some fantastic hotels in and around Liverpool but this isn't one of them. We were expecting a quiet, classy hotel and we were sadly disappointed. The hotel did not seem to have any sound proofing so every lyric from the wedding disco, returning revellers and the adjacent motorway traffic could be heard from our second floor room. Clearly the […] hotel knew noise was a problem but at no time did they mention this either before booking or during check in. I felt this was a serious oversight by the hotel to withhold information that I would use to inform my choice of hotel and I stated this to the Reception Manager. She tried to be sympathetic but I was not convinced the either she or the hotel intended to change anything. As for the classy bit, the abundance of tracksuited scallies in the public areas was enough to ensure this feeling was quickly dashed. Lisateave

Reception staff responded well to queries and problems. Need to be very prepared with navigation from the motorway. Noisy, being so close. Good-sized swimming pool - jaccuzi/steam room/sauna all big enough to be comfortable with the number of users.

The staff were great. The hotel is very tired in fact fast asleep, the breakfast very good but evening meal in hotel not great. We did not pay a fortune for this hotel and we did have a good weekend but would not go back to this particular hotel.

The room was spot on for cleanlines and comfort. The Bar area was comfy and Bar food good. But was dissapointed with the quality of the Breakfast and the decor in the Restaurant was very outdated and furniture old and not even matching

hotel ok but we decided to eat in at the Vibes resturant. We are non meat eaters and struggled with the very limited joice. The meal was expensive ( my coffee at the end was £3.25) ,and overpriced.

Have stayed here now about 10times , hotel rooms need upgrading now , dinner has improved and service was good but as always breakfast is a waste of time , cooked breakfast all dried up , tables not cleared , not enough staff . have booed suites hotel for next visit , what i will miss is the pool and gym that is excellent

This was the second time we had stayed at the Village in the last few months. The staff were excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. The Village will definitely be our hotel of choice when visiting Liverpool in the future. Thank you to all who work so hard to make our stay enjoyable.

We stayed here as it was too expensive to stay in the centre of Liverpool for the weekend. Although it is away from the city, it is not too far to the Wiston train station if you don't mind walking ~ 30mins and tickets for the 15 min train ride were cheap, with trains back reasonably late in the evening. The buffet breakfast was pretty good, but unfortunatley […] we didn't get the chance to use the leisure facilities (which close at 7pm) as there was too much to do in Liverpool to stay in the hotel! I have stayed in many Village hotels and usually they are fine. Although they all suffer from the same sub standard breakfast - food is pre cooked and left to go half cold on the buffet. The room was basic but clean, but too much external noise; loud music an drandon knocking/banging which occured at irregular intervals until about 3am in the morning. Very nice hotel, with all the usual facilities of a business class hotel. Very nice leisure with the biggest and warmest hotel pool. Breakfast was busy with full restaurant but they coped quite well so no complaints there. Shame they didn't show the rugby on a big screen (it was early morning though - sure they would evenings in the pub part)

For a hotel that costs so much to stay I was extremely disappointed. Our room was very close to reception, we hadn't got to bed until 2am after attending a wedding. At 6am there was shouting and screaming from a room closer to reception than ours. Nobody stopped this, even after a phone call to reception. We finally got up at 8am and had a shower only […] for it to leak all over the bathroom and flood it! Other people we spoke to at breakfast had had exactly the same issues with the shower. At check out we did not get asked how our stay was, we were greeted with 'thanks, that's everything' not even a goodbyre or have a nice day. If we had been asked if we'd enjoyed our stay then I would have told them I have had a better night's sleep in a budget hotel! Lisateave

I was disappointed that the hotel upon arrival was not as good as its own web site portrayed. Myself and party stayed for 4 nights in two rooms. The hotel corridors and rooms are now a little dowdy and old looking, and although the pool was fine we were again disappointed that children were not allowed in after 5.00pm, just when you need to use it after […] a busy day sightseeing. The cleaner forgot to do my room completely one day, and did not change the towels in my guests room on another. However in mitigation, when reporting this to reception on arrival back at 9.00pm, new towels were dispatched up immediately. The breakfast was fine with plenty of it available, although there was not a large choice of juices or cerials. the restaurant staff were pleasant and willing to re-fill your tea pot if required, although a little slow in clearing away your cerial bowls before or during your eating of the cooked breakfast. the breakfast is self service which I generally prefer anyway. Finally, on the morning of checkout, I wanted to mention the incident of the room service above to the duty manager. Unfortunately, reception [who were very sympathetic] could not find him or indeed did not know who was on duty that morning! Conclusion. The hotel is very average but with above average fitness facilities. I would not, not stay there again, but I would not go out of my way to do so. Lisateave
