Excellent value

I love this hotel. It is in an excellent location first of all, easy access to the metro and convenient walking to Gran Via, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Orient, and even walkable disctance to all museums. There is no lack of great restaurants, cafes, bars, taverns, etc. in the area to eat...just get out and walk. The staff are always courteous and all […] I have encountered speak English. The room was spotlessly cleaned. The laundry service I utilized was quick and efficient and did a great job. The housekeepers responded quickly to request such as extra towels, and did a great job cleaning the room. The front desk helped me arrange for private transport to the airport flawlessly. Meals in the cafe and buffet area for breakfast were good, quick, filling, and once again, the staff was professional and spoke English. I have no bad remarks to make about this hotel. My room faced the front and was quite large. I would hands down choose this hotel again. Lisateave

The hotel was in a good location (central to most of the sites on our list) but the rest of the experience was ordinary. In particular the hotel staff was minimally helpful and seemed to act bothered every time a guest asked a question. Further the beds were on a wooden floor and slipped every time you moved in the bed. The hotel is outdated but clean. […] The breakfast buffet was minimal but the coffee was nice. They also do not provide umbrellas or ironing boards. There are certainly better alternatives. Lisateave

Unique location, comfortable stay, helpful staff. I can only recommend this hotel. We had the room with the view to the wall, which was not so nice, but at the end the advantage was quiet nights (and hotel staff asked us if we want to change).

Hotel Regina was wonderful! Great location, friendly people, spacious and comfortable room. If we have 1 complaint it would be that our room was a bit stuffy. A/C had not yet been turned on. But this was a minor issue and I highly recommend this hotel.

Very good apart from no view from room, constant dark!

lovely hotel; would stay there again, but would choose a more full-sized room rather than a single, and preferably one that faces the street. (a lot of the rooms face small internal spaces. lovely restaurant worth visiting.

We booked the Hotel Regina in Madrid because it was located centrally; the price was reasonable for a capitol city; it appeared to be tastefully decorated; previous reviews were generally favorable and visitors commended the helpful staff. We found it to be everything we expected. We traveled in Central Spain for nearly two weeks. The Regina was not […] the tops in any of these areas, but it was good enough to get our top rating. Great location Convinient rooms for family Helpfull staff

The location is perfect. Everything is within walking distance. The room was super clean and comfortable. The only complaint was that it was too hot. They told us they didn't have the AC on at night. So we had to open the windows to help cool off the room. Other than that the hotel room was a nice as they get.

Perhaps the best thing about the hotel was its location - very central and near the Prado, Retiro Gardens, Plaza Mayor etc, walking distance to airport bus. We found it very comfortable, though we had an 'inside' room - other reviews have said a room on the street can be very noisy. The downside of the inside room is that the only view from the window […] is walls and windows and the sun did not reach down to our first floor room. Lisateave

The room was a bit small, but other than that, it was great. All new fixtures and even a shower curtain (much of Europe hasn't mastered the concept of a shower curtain or door keeping the water off the floor). The entrance to the very efficient subway is 50 feet from the front door. Walk about 3 short blocks and you're in Plaza del Sol. Another three […] blocks and you're at the Plaza Mayor Mercado. The Plaza Mayor is a block away from that.. Front desk very helpful. Loaded my sim card at Vodaphone in Plaza del Sol. Walked in opposite direction to Museo de Prado. Also walked to Museo Nacional Reina Sofia (Picasso's Guernica). Highly recommend if you want to be in the middle of Madrid. Lisateave

The only complaint is air conditioning not used in hotel due to time of year. Hotel staff awesome, coffee shop very convenient. Overall great hotel we had to sleep with windows open at night because Madrid was unseasonably warm. We stayed in nearby hotel previous year this was hands down better room for equal price.

We enjoyed a pleasant experience at the Hotel Regina in Madrid. The location is perfect and walking distance to Puerto de Sol, Plaza Mayor, and wonderful restaurants. Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in Jan. Bedroom had two huge single beds so comfortable!, TV with some English channels and was bigger than most of the city hotels I have stayed at. Particulary asked for a room away from the main road and away from the lift and this is exactly what we got. Reception more than helpful and deserve the good reviews they […] get, even advertise on their card for a review on trip advisor.Euro 2.50 to get to airport from metro located right outside the front door in 20-30 mins. Located perfect, easy to reach most places by foot in about 15 mins with lots of bars and cafes directly in the area. Breakfast very pricy at Euro15 although within the hotel a cafe offering breakfast priced for individual items offering much cheaper option. Lisateave

Location, location, location. Just a few minutes walk from Puerto del Sol. Lots of restaurants, walking distance of so many sights in Madrid. Also steps away from the metro station. I wasn't happy about my room, should have asked to change but I didn't, had a room right next to the elevator, very noisy.

Great location. All the main sites walkable. Metro available too but we did not need to use it.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 night last dec.17-21,2011 and the best the location is very center where all the action is , the room is very clean and good size ,The only down side is there is no free breakfast. I would stay in this hotel again and recommend to family and friend

We stayed at the Regina for 3 nights and had a great time. Our bathroom was HUGE and the room was good sized. It was a great location and the staff was very helpful. The only negative thing was some men were working on remodeling some rooms near us until about 8:00 PM one night so that would be temporary. the hotel is close to everything,only problem, don't have queen beds,only single beds,this is a common problem in Europe.

The Hotel is in a very central location for the main sites within Madrid and is close to the Sevilla Metro and Airport Coach Dropoff point. As we had 2 rooms, I can say that one was large and and one quite small and one was cold and was hot, however both the same price, so if you want a large room just ask for it.

The best part was walking up to the top of Seville Metro staircase and seeing the Hotel Reginia sign. Since it was November the a/c had been changed to heat, they accomodated us with a large occolating fan and they brought us a chair with arms so my husband could watch TV, without being on the bed. The attached cafe was reasonably priced for breakfast […] and supper. Personell at the desk were helpful and spoke excellent English. Was able to book tour with pick up at the hotel. the location of the hotel was great and is in walking distance between 2 train lines. We booked a superior room and was situated well away from the streets. The walls were thin so we can here people walking down the hallway and the vacuum going off. Other than that, the room was great.

We recently stayed for 6 nights in October. The location, as everyone says, is superb in front of SEVILLE metro stop. I had emailed ahead to tell of 9 pm arrival and ask for larger twin room and we were delighted. Room opened to single bed in foyer and then next room with twins. Very modern and top notch bathroom. It was interior room window, but perfect […] for sleeping and siestas. Great linens and towels and the maid staff work hard at cleaning top to bottom. You are two block walk to Puerto del Sol and easy tapas area walk to Plaza Santa Ana and our faves on Victoria street. Only complaint about hotel would be NO FREE INTERNET and they should remedy this. We did not have the breakfast as so many places nearby or else we were not even hungry. VIVA MADRID! Lisateave

As this was not our first visit to this hotel we were delighted to get a front room this time,also it was very pleasant that the smoking ban had been implemented, which made the wonderful coffee they make taste even better. It is only a leisurely walk to the Palace and surrounding gardens, Retiro Park is a 20 minute stroll where you can sit and relax […] and enjoy the entertainers. Lisateave

The hotel is 5 min walk from Puerta del Sol and the Grand Via. Also conviently located for public transportation with multiple subway stations in proximity. The staff is friendly and efficient

I loved the convience of this hotel right off the seville subway line, i took to and from the airport. walking distance to the prado museum, puerto sel sol and chueca... my room was beautiful!!!! the cafe downstaies had a great cafe con leche much better than starbucks next door!!!!

Overall, enjoyed the hotel. I am not very picky with A/C, but the person I shared the room with was VERY unhappy with the quality of the A/C. Even after speaking with hotel management and maintenance, the room did not get cold enough for him to sleep comfortably. Just an FYI.

This is a grand old hotel that has been modernized. The location is perfect, it is to the Puerta Del Sol, and close to Plaza Major.the seville metro stop is right out front. The staff is great, friendly and helpful. I recommend it strongly.

The good: 1. Excellent location- very close walking proximity to most of Madrid's tourist spots. Puerta del Sol is literally 5 min down the street from them. The Prado is about 15min walking. And the airport shuttle bus drops you off at Plaza de Cibeles, which is an easy 10min walk. 2. Professional & efficient staff- They let us check in several hours […] before check-in time after an exhausting trans-Atlantic flight. They were also very knowledgeable and helpful on tour operators, directions, airport transfers, etc. Just as importantly to us, the front desk personnel spoke good English; because between my husband & me, our Spanish is not very good. 3. Modern room- Our room & bathroom had obviously been refurbished recently. The beds were also very comfortable. 4. Wireless connection- Our wi-fi cost was included in the cost of the room. Strong connection most of the time- enough to do Skype. The Cons- 1. Noisy- the noise caused by other guests at all hours of the night reverberates around the hallway. Beware - esp if you're a light sleeper. 2. The bathroom didn't have a traditional door separating itself from the room. Rather, it had a glass door that didn't drown out all the noise while your travel companion showers or uses the toilet. This definitely irked me. 3. Very small room- we barely had enough room for both our suitcases. Also, they should offer a TV channel in English. CNN or BBC would be helpful. All in all, we had a good experience at the Regina. Fairly good value for the money. It's three star rating is an accurate assessment. Lisateave

I could not believe the location of this hotel in this price! It was just great!. Right in the heart of the city with Banco Central across the street. There is no parking in the hotel but the underground Public Parking ($) is right next to it. Staff was not very helpful, a little impatient, but this seems to be normal in Madrid. Starbucks Coffee is […] right next to the hotel so you get this home feeling:) Room was clean, with an Ikea style but comfortable. I did not use the restaurant, there were plenty of them in the city. Hotel is 5 min walking distance from Plaza del Sol and other main attractions. About 30 min drive from the International Airport. When you are in Madrid as a tourist location is everything and this hotel was great for that. Lisateave

The hotel was perfect for our stay in Madrid. Good location and price. We must say the open room concept including the bathroom was a surprise and would not be for everyone. You can't be self conscious and stay here as you share every detail of bathroom life with others in the room. If you can stand that then by all means pick this hotel. We did have […] some problem with odors(sewer gas) emanating from the shower drain when others above us were showering in their rooms. Excelent hotel, very well located in Madrid, close to Puerta del Sol and other entertainment areas. Metro station at the door. Cafeteria and restaurant in the premises and the best personnel, very friendly and helpful. Rates very reasonable. We will go back for sure.
