Lack of appropriate ventilation and air circulation in room is problematic. I will not make any further bookings at this hotel until this issue is addressed. The offer of "air freshner" is not an acceptable solution to this problem.

A nice 5 star hotel, but it is getting a bit dated. This room needs to be renovated. Wood desks are scratched and the varnish is well worn, bathroom door has suffered water damage along bottom edge, TV stand doors are battered and open with difficulty. Bathroom fixtures are quaint as they are the old-fashioned style but the sink is cracked.
"Elegant, comfortable, great service"
We were only at this hotel for one night as it was a splurge for our daughter's 14th birthday. Though, like other guests, we found the room to be small, it was attractive, clean, and enjoyable. The service staff -- everyone we encountered -- was impressively courteous and helpful. Location was excellent, and we loved the pool/hot tub, and gym. Our only […] complaint is that one of the restaurants (not the Beaver -- the other) was hugely expensive for rather mediocre food. My husband got a tart, which amounted to a personal size pizza, my daughter a bagel with lox, and I got a salad. We had 2 glasses of wine, and the bill was over $100. Nontheless it was convenient, and the waiter brought a piece of cake (on the house!) to celebrate our daughter's birthday. I really recommend this hotel if you can afford it. And normally we can't! "Great location - wonderful older hotel"
Staff was friendly and very helpful. Room was very nice, although a bit small. Bed was VERY comfortable. Great location right above the train station that also has reasonably priced food court with lots of choices.

"this is THE place to stay"
Everything about this hotel was perfect. It was incredibly clean, very comfortable and in the perfect location. We ended up with a corner room that had a view right over the church next door. Everything about this hotel was top notch. Plus the location can't be beat. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Montreal for business or for fun!
"Fairmont - Queen Elizabeth"
Everything was great except the thermostat in the room seemed to be kind of broken. We had it on the coolest setting and it was still fairly warm during the day, at night it was fine with the cool temperatures outside. Upon checkout, we told them about it. Other than that, the location and everything about it was amazing!

I have been staying in room 868 and my only negative comments is that we were able to open the window..as a parent with a little monkey i think this should be modify to avoid any unfortunate accidents. Our stay has however been very pleasant and the service was excellent. we have been served by professionals.

Clean, comfortable and close to/above the train station. Central to many attractions and subway. Enjoyed the hotel experience thoroughly.
"Fabulous Fairmont"
Stayed for only one night but would definitely return for my next visit to Montreal. The hotel is beautiful, clean, very close to old Montreal & the staff is exceptional. We were given a complimentary room upgrade when we arrived. The staff could not have been nicer. We had a minor issue with the sheets on the bed & when we called downstairs at 11 pm […] when it was discovered, it was resolved completely within 10 mins. Highly recommend this hotel. Lisateave

Enjoyed my stay here. Room dated but fine, nice view and great service but the lift was across from my room and most of the night all you coud here was the lift going up and down which really for this type of hotel is not acceptable. Would I stay here again.... possibly

A nice clean hotel in the centre of Montreal that is right on top of the main train station. It has more a business than a holiday feel about it but we'd happily stay there again.

Perfect location, wanted to stay at the Queen for a long time but finally found a rate I was happy with $132/night. Took a relaxing train ride to Montreal, train station is under the hotel+ shops+ restaurant+ SAQ(LCBO) in Quebec "PERFECT". Room is a little small espacially the bathroom, but have been at Le Chateau Fronetnac in Quebec City and it's the […] same, because it's an older hotel, but still beautifull. The tub is cast iron so maybe need an upgrade so you don't get spots that is missing paint in the tub. Other wise, will go back again for the right price, My husband and I loved it. Lisateave
"The Queen is not amusee in Montreal"
I stayed with my best friend and her two children. We had to be moved out of our room to another room on another floor due to the smell of cigarette smoke coming through the vent in the bathroom from the smoking floor above. Then we had to call for enough towels and facecloths as the room did not have a sufficient amount to cover four people (in both […] rooms as a matter of fact). We had to request for robes which weren't provided. There was only one set of slippers...for four people. We had to request for more facial tissue as the box ran out after four tissues used. Not a hotel that does well with taking the guess work out of a comfortable stay. When a guest has to call down with what seems like the essentials, there seems to be a problem. And I think this hotel was rated with 4.5 stars...? The one positive experience we had was with the doormen. They were fantastic and really friendly with the kids. I wouldn't recommend this place. "Queen Elizabeth in Montreal Quebec"
This hotel was great! The staff including the valet car service were all friendly and helpful. It was nice to be able to walk right to the mall without leaving the building. I would definately stay here again. Ann
For the money ($139) the hotel room was small when compared to others for the same price(Novotel), and the in room cleanliness and amenities were simply just passable. perimeter and corners of the carpets and the baseboards were dusty. Bathtub was stained and dirty looking as too were the marble washroom flooring cloudy looking as though they were cleaned […] with a dirty mop. Overall I expected more from such a prestigious name like Fairmont and the Queen Elizabeth. Will definitely go back to Novotel which is more centrally located to Ste Catherine St and surrounding ammenities or will try the Sheraton as an alternative. Lisateave

Lovely hotel, courteous service, charming room. Conveniently located right over the station where my Amtrak train arrived/left. But tho it was easy for me to access the station directly from a hotel elevator, it seemed like a bad security practice that someone from the station could wander up to guestroom hallways without passing any security.

"Misleading description and photo"
This hotel is in desperate need of major renovations. We arrived in the evening by train and loved the easy access to the hotel. We approached a young lady who checked us in and gave us our room keys. She said, "Here are your room keys. Your on the 21st floor in a non-smoking room with a queen sized bed." My partner reminded her that we had requested […] a king size bed and she scrunched up her face and, without saying anything, returned to the terminal and resumed her search. Eventually she found us another room on the fourh floor and we were on our way. When we entered the room my heart sank. The room was old and in desperate need of work. The furnishings were a hodgepodge of nice but old and damaged cherrywood looking furnishings and cheap, modern, metal and glass tables and lamps. The wood furnishings were chipped and had major cosmetic damage. One of the lamps by the bed was structrally broken. The paint was peeling in places near the baseboard as was the wallpaper. There was rust in a number of places in the bathroom and the tub was covered in chips where the porcelin, or whatever tubs are made of, had been chipped off to expose a grey, perhaps metalic, surface underneath. The bathroom its self was very out of date with black marble tile and not near enough light. There was also no bath robe in sight. The view from the room was nice but not what you'd expect. We had a view of the back of the Cathedral but from the photo of the hotel you would expect a view of the front of the cathedral. This is because the picture they show is nit of the hotel. The photo frames the Cathedral and a building behind it which would lead rational person to believe the hotel to be the building behind it especially since it has a similar style to other Fairmonts but you would be mistaken as my partner and I were. The actual hotel is not at the centre of the frame but to the left. You cannot read the name of the hotel on the building but that's it. Far less impressive. In addition to thes Lisateave
"The Queen Elizabeth - she has grown old"
The Queen Elizabeth Fairmont in Montreal is in a great location. The 1st thing that is noticeable upon arrival at the ViaRail Station is the lack of signs indicating where the QE is located. I could find the Hilton with no problem but the QE sign is very small and at the back of the Food Court. Upon arrival there is a line up which on a good day is […] okay by me. But the rooms are small and not very well kept. It is like a better kept prison cell. 2 Double beds, a small work desk, a hutch that only has 2 drawers and lots of overpriced snacks and a tiny coffee maker that is almost impossible to reach. The bathroom is a germ delight and you feel dirtier coming out of it then when you went in. The water will either scald you or freeze you, there is no happy medium while taking a shower. I have to say the flat screen LG TV is very good and even better if you can speak French because I only found 3 stations that were English speaking without having to pay for the movies. Also, 13.95 a day (with taxes 16.00) for internet is just highway robbery. I used the Second Cup downstairs for free and I only had to buy a coffee!!! Telephone calls are 1.50 - too much nickel and diming and I am a seasoned traveller , but will not be coming to the Fairmont again when I am in Montreal. Lisateave

"tired and dated but convenient location"
This hotel is connected to the Central Station, which was very conveneint for me and me travelling partner. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is dated and tired. The room we stayed in was large but looked like it was out of the eighties, from the fixtures to the colour of the carpets it looked tired and old. Even the TV was an […] old tube set! The hallway outside the room was even worse. The other issue I had was the room temperature was like an oven. For the two nights that we were there, the window had to be propped open with a pop can, which really didn't help. The long and short of it is that this hotel is great if you want the convenience of it being connected to the train station. Otherwise, there are other and nicer hotels within a couple of blocks and at comprables prices. Lisateave

The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth proved to be the perfect hub for our Montreal adventure. It was in a convenient central location and had all of the amenities we wanted. The service was exceptional and the hotel staff was always friendly and quick to accommodate our requests. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would not recommend this hotel. It needs to be redone. For the money it is like staying at a motel- why pay this much for motel like rooms. The room was small, the wallpaper was peeling the bathtub was peeling. They charge extra for everything. $20 a night for parking, $16 for 24 hours of WIFI. The place is a rip off. "Excellent location, rooms could use updating"
The hotel is conveniently located at the train station and a 10 minute walk to downtown or old montreal. The staff are excellent, the pool and health area are clean and well kept. The room was dated, the tub and sink had paint chips and there were some overall maintenance issues.

This was a nice hotel, in a great location - seconds from the train station and not too far from restaurants/night life/shopping. However, for the price of the room and the reputation of the hotel, the fact that they charge almost $14.00 for Internet use is appaling. Even cheap hotels now-a-days offer free internet. "Exceptional service with a smile"
I mentioned to an employee that there seemed to be a problem with the mini-fridge. He opened it and realized there was an ammonia leak. He called the service manager and mentioned the problem. He then handed the phone to me. It was the lead front desk clerk who asked me to come down. I was given a new room and it turned out to be an upgrade. During […] the rest of my stay employees would ask me if I was doing okay, if there was anything else they could do, etc. I can't praise the staff enough. "GREAT service!"
this was a last minute hotel stay...we were very pleasantly surprised at the plushness of the lobby and the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The rooms are 'compact', but they are very well appointed. Must point out the EXCEPTIONAL staff at the front desk and housekeeping. They all went out of their way to assist us and were very friendly.

My wife and I attended this hotel for our anniversary. I was amazed on how easy it was to get to the hotel from the train station. Shopping centres were also easy to access from the elevator and no jacket was needed considering the colder weather. All staff that we encountered, were able to speak English very well, which made us pretty comfortable considering […] that our French is rather rusty. Overall a great stay and I would consider staying at this hotel again, if we plan on making our way back to Montreal Lisateave
