Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth - Montreal

We stayed at this hotel in the middle of frigid Montreal January. Outside, Blvd Rene-Levesque can feel a bit desolate, but in one block you're on the more happening Ste. Catherine. The hotel is also connected to the underground city, which is extremely convenient. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, although the black tiles in the shower stall […] are definitely dated and the TV is not HD and is set in a low cabinet that is a bit hard to see when lying in bed. While we were there, the hot tub was broken, which was a disappointment, but the gym facilities are quite nice. Lisateave

Was a great hotel, perfect area. Allowed me to walk right to the Canadiens game underground in blizzard.

The quality of the service of the hotel staff was great. The were very helpful and knowledgable as it was our first stay in Montreal and places to visit. One of the major issues was the quality of service at the beaver Creek Lounge located within the hotel. I would never recommend this restaurant/lounge to anyone visiting however go to the other restaurant-Le […] Montrealais or the The Keg across the street. Based upon our experience I would recommend the hotel and do not hesitate to approach the staff as they do take the time to listen and answer your questions/issues. Lisateave

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Metro, train station, food court and shopping center right under the hotel (underground city) and very close to the Eaton Centre, which connects with other malls and metro stations. Only drawbacks: $17 daily for wi-fi and $28 daily for valet pkg, which is the only parking choice; also, no kitchenette or microvawe […] available. very convenient location and it's right underneath the gare central (metro / VIA). the only hiccup was that our room's heater stopped functioning on the first night. it's not a huge deal because the comforter / blankets were VERY warm

The desk staff are super courteous and the hotel was clean. There is a charge to use the internet (when it is a free option today at most budget hotels and even some McDonald's restaurants). I don't like to be nickeled and dimed over small luxuries like internet access! I seleceted this hotel because the windows open and it is mentionned in their hotel […] description. I have severe asthma and the fresh air suits me better. Their AIR CONDITIONING would not shut off! I called room service to adjust the thermostat to correct this. No one ever showed up. I left the hotel wheezing. So my expectations which were low, were not met. I will not return. Lisateave

I love this hotel! Service is amazing and it is just one block from Saint Catherine. The rooms are a little small but comfortable and luxurious. I thought the price was great!

Excellence! Everthing about the hotel speaks of excellence.

This was the first time we stayed at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. It was so comfortable and all of the staff were superb. I would stay there again and would most definitely recommend this hotel to all of my friends and family.

The hotel is beautiful; well situated in the heart of Montreal, with quick access to shopping, transit, and restaurants. The hotel staff were pleasant and professional. Well worth the investment!

First of all, this hotel has fantastic service. The check-in and check-out process was fast and courteous, and the concierge couldn't have been more helpful. My issue with this hotel was with the room. Twice I was given towels with smudges on them that looked like makeup or dried blood. The bed is also really, really hard. The bedding is luxurious, […] with down comforters and very comfy pillows, but the mattress ruined the experience. Overall, I couldn't wait to leave. Without a good night's sleep, the other parts of the stay can't be salvaged. Lisateave

We stayed here for a weekend in November. It is very accessible when arriving by train. It rained most of the weekend but that was not a problem because the hotel is connected to Montreal extensive underground pathway system. the traffic is very convenient.we were going to travel by VIA the next day morning,the station is just underground.the room is small.

My short stay for the family Renion was very nice. Would definately recommed this Hotel for anyone. Everything in walking distance and the staff was very helpful.

We were surprised that most resturants and stores were closed for the entire Labor Day weekend which was most of our stay. We were there Friday, Sat., Sun. and Mon. Luckly we got our soveniers on Fri. It makes me wonder why we paid higher hotel rates when there were fewer servicies available. I have been to Montreal many times (with my late husband)so […] I know how much there is to enjoy. This was my sister's first visit and she was less impressed because of the unavailability of the things I mentioned, and others. I will have a difficult time getting her to return. We did take the Grayline Tour but the shopping was sorely missed. Lisateave

Lovely hotel, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable and we had a great breakfast. The hotel is perfectly located for the Railway Station. There is a side entrance that leads directly to the station.

I have stayed in the Queen Elizabeth on many occasions. My recent visit saw several things which I would not expect form a hotel at this level: all dealings with the check-in counter took far longer than they should have. Having only one staff member on duty at the mid-morning check-out time was inexcusable. There were also some cleanliness issues with […] my room: towels that had a very noticeable rood (curry); trash that had not been emptied; towels that were re-hung (on a several day stay) which were obviously dirty and in great need of replacement. I would not expect these things to occur in a property such as the Queen Elizabeth. Lisateave

Magnificent hotel in the heart of the city

good location to subway, pleased that the front desk suggested we go to the money exchange place and we were able to get a better exchange rate than there at the hotel and we were then able to enjoy the great breakfast buffet.

Firstly, we weren't given the discounted rate advertised and paid $40 more for the night's stay. Secondly, our room still was not available to check in at 4:20 p.m., so we were given another room that didn't have 2 beds, and weren't offered a later check out or anything complimentary.

The hotel was located in a very convenient area of the city--Downtown close to Old Montreal, The Plateau, and other sights. There are also two of the city bike rental hot spots within a block of the hotel, which we used to get everywhere! The room was very clean and comfortable, bathroom was a bit older but very well maintained. All in all I very much […] liked the hotel. My only complaint would be the lobby experience---it was consistently packed with tour groups and wedding parties, and had long lines for the front desk and concierge. I prefer a more intimate, quiet, less tour-groupy atmosphere. But the room was a lovely quiet escape from that. On the day of check in, we arrived about 5-6 hours before 4pm check in, and they placed us on "priority wait list" to check in early. However, the room still wasn't ready until just after 4pm. But, on the final day, they did extend check out from 10am until 2pm at my request for no charge, so that more than made up for it to me. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montreal. Lisateave

It is somehow expensive with old furniture in the room

The service exceeded our expectations including the ability to check in early, the concierge service and the bellman service. We loved it's central location and the pampered feeling we received. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

All the staff at every level were friendly, confident and helpful. As an Anglophone, I was expecting a difficulty in communication, but that never arose.

The best thing about the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Gold floor is the lounge. There is an excellent buffet breakfast featuring smoked salmon and other goodies, and wonderful hors d'oeuvres in the evening between 5pm and 7pm which you can enjoy with your glass of wine while settled into a comfortable chair with light classical music or jazz in the background. […] In between, various treats are provided so that you are never likely to starve. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the location is ideal if you are arriving by train: the Gare Centrale is immediately beneath the hotel (but you will not hear any train noise at all). This is a great hotel for business guests and tourists alike. Lisateave

Room way too small for a king size bed. Very disappointed after previous stays with larger airier rooms. Housekeeping didn't do our room at all until we had to ask in the evening when going out for dinner.the montrealais restaurant brunch/breakfast buffet was as always wonderful.

We stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in late March for an extended hockey weekend/birthday trip and were very pleased with the experience. Despite her age, the hotel is still a classic and updates throughout make it nicer than some reviews here indicated. The staff were very helpful and the food stalls in the train station beneath were great for […] a quick snack out of the wind. Our only "issue" was the rather exorbitant price of parking. There are better deals for indoor parking in the neighborhood and next time, we'll know that. Lisateave

It was a good stay overall. I have stayed here before, but the valet at check-in was confusing and frustrating. We pulled in front on rene levesque at 3pm on a thursday. We were told to immediately move, even though there was a sign stating we had 15 minutes to unload. I was told to pull around the building in rush-hour traffic to a side street to have […] my car valet-parked. I did so (taking 15 minutes), only to sit for 10 minutes and then told to garage the car myself as the valet staff was overwhelmed. Several people right behind me were told the same thing. Around the building again. . .At check in, after a brief and rather insincere statement of apology, we waited 20 minutes in our room for our bags to be brought up. Loud neighbors at 11pm and 2:30 am did not help, although the front desk was responsive, at least. Lisateave

Went for a Saturday and Sunday night stay. Good location and the health club is nice and free of charge unlike many hotels in the US. The Gibson spa was also nice and conveniently located. I thought the room was small but comfortable. The others we were travelling with had a better view. It was still a little pricey but worth the treat.

the hotel Reine Elizabeth is up the central train station in Montréal,very centre from down town easy to walk every streets around.

It is so nice to arrive at a hotel where everything is as it should be-no need to ask for anything. The staff at the front desk as well as the cleaning people could not be any friendlier and helpful.We only stay here when we are in Montreal-we have tried others and have been greatly dissatisfied.

The Pros: Great location and overall nice hotel. The lobby bar is a nice place for late night drink. Beautiful sitting area in the lobby as well. Direct access to underground shopping mall. The Cons: Room was too warm (even with thermostat turned all the way down) and room wasn't made up until the afternoon. The Verdict: Nice hotel and I would stay […] there again. Lisateave
