Hotel is perfectly situated between i57 and Carbondale. Close to crab orchard lake and malls. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool area. Exercise area was tiny with only two machines. Breakfast was good for a free buffet. Coffee tea and hot water were available 24 hrs. Rooms were clean and a good size. Would definitely stay here again.

First time I have ever seen a bathroom faucet that has a spray attachment on the nozzle; weird to try to shave and clear the razor under a spray of water rather than just a full-force of water. Really strange. Also, the duvets on the beds were like the lead blanket at my dentist; get under it, and you are pinned to the bed.

It's a fine place; I have no substantive complaints...if my son decides to go to SIU, though, I will try to find somewhere that is a bit less soul-less -- the drive from the hotel to campus is a depressing reminder that we are just one homogenous corporate-driven monotony of eating and buying....

This is one of the easiest hotels to check into! Most hotels still make you jump through hoops even though we've already paid through hotels.com. When I walked in all I had to do was sign a paper! Super quick and very friendly!

We were very impressed with how clean the hotel was and how there was not any wear and tear in the room we stayed. Carpets were totally free of any kind of debris or spots. The breakfast in the mornings was more than we could have asked for. We especially enjoyed the fresh fruit that was already pealed but not in a sugary syrup. Had a great stay and the hotel was imaculate. Britney at the front desk was super helpful, kind, and awesome. The continental breakfast was well maintained. There's nothing much immediately around the hotel except a Houlahans, but there are more theaters and restaurants only a few minutes away. Very quiet area. My wife and I both enjoyed our stay.

I was a bit disappointed about the quality of the hotel especially related to the cost. There are big ads in the elevators bragging about their linens yet the duvets were very lumpy (it was the first thing I noticed when I walked in the room-big lumps all over both beds).A somewhat bad first impression since I usually love hotel decor. I did not get […] a morning paper outside my door. The "fitness center" was a small room with a stationary bike and a TV. I was hoping for a least a little more than that.The breakfast was nothing special and the scrambled eggs looked very dry and overcooked. I had previously stayed at a lower star hotel ( cheaper too) nearby and thought that the quality and service was better. It wasn't horrible but for the price I expected more. Lisateave

It was a comfortable hotel except that the carpets had just been cleaned and were still very wet. It was so wet that it was uncomfortable to walk around without shoes on. It makes more sense to clean the rooms that are not reserved for that same night.

I saw quite a few college students with their families going back to school as well as on the road business professionals and contractors. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was excellent, lots of comfortable furniture and tons of space, even in bathroom. Front desk staff super friendly. We arrived 2 hours early and they rushed to get us in right away. Wished all hotels were like this.

The rooms were clean and the hotel staff was pleasant. We did not have an opportunity to take advantage of the swimming pool or fitness room, but did get to have the free breakfast the next morning which was good. It is definitely a nice perk to have something to eat before a long Orientation or Move-In day. The hotel is only about 15 minutes away from […] campus and gives you chance to see the Carbondale area. It is also close to quite a few restaurants which made it easy to find something to eat late at night after a long drive in from Chicago. We will definitely return. Lisateave

Very nice facility. It was clean and comfortable. The free buffet was fabulous. The waffles were yummy and the coffee was very good. We will definitely stay here when we come to visit our son at school.

Normally, I'm a fan of Hampton Inns. The staff is generally friendly and professional and the rooms are consistently clean and comfortable. My one-night stay at this Hampton Inn was surprisingly disappointing. When I arrived in the late evening, the front desk was unmanned. I waited at least a full five minutes, if not more, for a staff member to appear […] and check me into my room. I was tired and wanted to get into my room, so this was not a pleasant experience. The staff offered no apologies for the inconvenience. The room was basic, I felt. I located one convenient electrical outlet for charging my cell phone, but as the outlet wasn't close to any piece of furniture, I had to leave the phone on the floor all night. The room was cramped. I had barely adequate room to navigate between the bed and the table/chairs. I found bug on my pillow. Overall, I was disappointed. Given that I spent only 12 hours in the room, I should have opted for a less expensive option in town closer to the university. This hotel was on the outskirts of Carbondale, not within walking distance of anything except a low-quality chain steakhouse. Lisateave

The staff was very nice, the rooms were clean, and they brought us up a tooth brush the next morning. It's a little far from SIUC, but it's a nice place to stay.

This is the first hotel we check for reservations when going to Carbondale. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and the breakfast is great.

All the employees of the Hampton are extremely polite. They treat you like you are someone special. The room was clean and pleasant.. The complimentary was very good and I looked forward to it each morning. I have no complaints. I would definitely recommend the Hampton to anyone who is in the Carbondale area. I plan to stay there next year.

The hotel was very nice. However, the lobby area was quite noisy. The pool was small and filled with many children, so adults could not really enjoy the hot tub. The beds were quite comfortable and the room was clean. Be careful of the breakfast buffet however. One of our donuts had a bug in it.
