W Chicago City Center - Chicago

The rooms were incredibly small. For a W location, I thought it would be a little more romatic and trendy in the rooms. The shower was small, outdated, the room was tucked away in a corner, we stared at the side of another business building, the valet was blocked by police cars, so I couldn't even valet my car properly. Let me start by saying that I love this hotel. I've stayed here a few times before and hadn't written positive reviews when they were warranted, but that's how it goes. They used the adjective "spectacular" very loosely when describing my room. The room was one of their smaller rooms, and the television wasn't facing the bed. Definately not worth the […] money spent. The first thing I noticed towards the head of our bed was what appeared to be a blood stain on the matress. White bed sheets didn't hide it very well. I notified the front desk and they promptly sent someone up to walk me to my new room, which was much less spectacular than the room that I originally had. I'm not sure that I'll stay with them again after this experience. Lisateave

W Chi City Center was an excellent value for a weekend night stay. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The front desk allowed us early check in at noon. The hotel itself is in an old building but the rooms are pleasant, chic and modern. Comfortable and nice appointments. They serve great morning coffee,too. The W is a convenient, walk to Chi Loop […] theatres and sites. Plenty of fast food restaurants are close for a quick breakfast/lunch.Only four blocks from River North, too. Definitely recommend to out of towners for a weekend stay downtown ! Lisateave

For a major city hotel, the W is well priced for what you get. They accommodated my request for early check-in, which I appreciated. I had a long day of business meetings, so I just ordered room service and I have to say it was very good. I had the Gorgonzola garlic bread and the butter salad. The portions were a good size and it was all very tasty. […] I had a corner room, and the bathroom was VERY small. It did not bother me, but I thought I would point it out. I read reviews that said to ask for an inside room, and I am bummed I did not heed that advice. The "L" goes by every ten minutes and you can definitely hear it. Lisateave

We needed a place to kick it for the night before we traveled on to Dubuque from Chicago and the W stole the show. The only downside is that it's not 100% clear where the check-in desk is after you walk in the main doors. We had to flag down someone on the wait staff in the restaurant to tell us where to go. The overall look of the hotel was nice. However, the room was smaller than I thought it would be (we booked the regular room). The only complaints I have is the very small bathroom sink that did not give us hot water or enough water to wash our hands! I'm not one for lengthy reviews. This is an all around awesome hotel. The staff was Very accommodating and the hotel was clean. They were also nice enough to upgrade my room. I would defiantly stay again.

The hotel was nice, clean, and modern. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in all aspects from the check in, to concierge, to the bar staff. However, the rooms were tiny. I recommend not staying here if you appreciate not hitting your elbows every time you try to turn around in the bathroom :)

We got a "wonderful" room and it was TINY! Not much room to move. However it was nice and did the job, bed was super comfortable. It needed some up keep... lots of cracked and chipped tile in the bathroom, super low water pressure, stained bathroom vanity {yellowed over time or by hair tools}. The bar and restaurants are super expensive, even by Chicago […] standards, and the food and drinks were not worth the price. Hotel main areas were super nice and swanky, everyone who worked there was really nice. We got to Chicago early and they let us check in before the 3:00 check in time so that was great. Very far from Michigan Street if you are looking to be down there... nice to be away from all the craziness that is Michigan street but you are a good $10.00 cab ride from the major shopping areas. Everything was great, except the free drinks card. when I got tot the bar, I had the impression I could order any liquor I wanted, of course with a common sense, but bartender told me only wine and beer. Its very disappointed when you get a card without explanation on what you can get. Everyone we came in contact with at the hotel, from the check-in, to the house cleaners, were friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The location was perfect for us, being close to several of the CTA lines. The food at the IPO restaurant was delicious. The drinks made at the lobby bar were fantastic. it was perfect since I was attending the BI Summit in the hotel. I never left the hotel, so am not familiar with the surrounding neighborhood; however this is significant because everything I needed for the three days and two nights I was there was available within the hotel. Perfect for a business trip.

I wasn't overly impressed with this W. While the lobby was modern the floors and rooms were obvious remodels. The lighting was also lacking. Track lighting in the bathroom would have been helpful. Sometimes function over form is preferred.

Once you get past the lobby, the hotel is really in rather sad condition --- gouges in the door frames, stained carpets, etc. Plus, my floor had an overpowering and pervasive smell of a wet, dirty dishcloth, which was very unpleasant. Room was small to the point of being uncomfortable.

This hotel is very modern and trendy. HOWEVER....putting aside fashionable lamps and cabinets, the beds and pillows are cheap and uncomfortable. The bathroom has no fan. The ipod dock can't charge your iphone, they jip you on the number of towels, no free wifi, and not enough outlets. The bed was definitely the biggest disappointment. At the prices […] this hotel charges, to have such mediocre accomodations is a shame. Keep your trendy lamps and cabinets. That is not what I want to pay for. Lisateave

I booked a "wonderful" room which turned out to be a "cozy" room. The room was small by NYC standards. The bathroom was so tiny that it was literally difficult to turn around in it. I've stayed here before and been in a normal "wonderful" room, which is fine. This was an expensive dissapointment.

Well as soon as we got there we notice the staff was really nice. Even made us a reservation for a recommended restaurant! As soon as we got to the room, we noticed the room was pretty small for a room with 2 beds. The restroom was a good size. The one thing i did not like at all was the fact that they did not offer free internet. It turns out you have […] to pay for it, if you want to use it. 14.99 and that's not including how many computers using it! Also if you have kids there is only like 2 channels that shows anything for children. Also when we were there we had to buy some movies to entertain our 2 yr old daughter since only 1 channel was working at the time. Let me tell you the movies are expensive 16.99 per movie! So overall great for maybe couples, more so than with a family, unless your children are alrady grown up. Great location because it's so close to a lot of places. Lisateave

The beautiful young lady who checked us in was delightful and very pleasant. Hotel itself was just gorgeous! The one and only complaint I have is NO guest parking. Weekend parking prices are to dang high, but hey I guess that's how Chicago rolls. I love it and I'll keep coming back!

The hotel was a disappointment. I've stayed at W hotels in different cities (Dallas, New York, New Orleans) and generally have had a good experience. This property was tired. The restaurant, IPO, was terrible. I ordered the chicken, it was warm on top and cool on the bottom. Seemed like the kitchen heated it up and then let it sit on a counter under […] a light or something. The flavors were dull. The wine list by the glass was boring. I was told that they had a better selection but changed the list because they couldn't keep so many bottles open (not a thing to tell a customer, sounds like an excuse). Frankly, I had been travelling all day, it was 9 PM, I hadn't eaten that day, I was hungry and I ate the meal. The waiter asked me how my food was and when I told him he offered to buy me dessert. I thanked him but told him that I didn't eat dessert. He didn't buy my wine or offer to pick up the tab for the meal. Seems like he didn't want to do anything else about it. it's kind of funny, if I didn't like the meal, why would I like dessert? Lisateave

It was our first time at the Chicago W. We were suprised at the when we entered the room - it was very tight. The bathroom was very basic and old. There was a lot of noise in the evenings and especially from the subway. I dont think I would stay at the W again.

They had Acura shuttle rides all day and night long so I did not have to pay for a cab only but once. I must admit that this W was well below the standards of other W hotels. The beds were soft, the room was smaller than I expected, and the bathroom was cramped. The service was good enough. And the bartender at the artisanal cocktail bar was as pretentious and inattentive as I can imagine.
