My husband and I loved this hotel - couldn't beat location right near the gas lamp district. Rooms were HUGE! If you're looking for something simple at a great price this is the place. A great entrance/lobby. Room is very comfortable, no view from the bedrooms but in a great location, walking distance from just about everything in Gaslamp district. Only negative for me was the sink was on the outside of the bathroom and the bathroom pretty dull.

The location is perfect. The rates really weren't that bad for how nice the hotel was. I would definitely stay there again.

Had horrible experience. We came home 2 am in the morning. With in 2 minutes, hotel security knocks on the door and says we have been getting complaints of loud noise. Keep it down or we will be evicted. How is that when we were not even in the room all night. We went to sleep, and an hour later security knocks and tells us the same thing. Next night, […] came to the room at 3 am. We were followed by the security upstairs. Soon as we closed room door, security knocks and tells us the same thing. We were not even in the room all night and still they were trying to evict us. Staff would not even listen to what we had to say. The only good thing about the hotel was the location. That's all. Will never stay there again and would never reccommend this hotel. We also had a drunk person knocking on our door the first night trying to enter the room claiming it was his room around 4.30 am. Awesome service and great location, blocks away from everything.

In the middle of my sleep security came to my door telling me it was my last warning?! Im sleeping first off and second my last warning?! When was my first?! Then at checkout the charged me a smoking fee?! No smoking here... How was that determined?! Rooms are small, view is ugly and building is too old fashioned. Nice artwork though...

Its a nice looking hotel used to be a bank, and itself is a sort of historical building. The contraction of ceiling/floor however is made by wood probably. It was so funny that I could "share" the situation of newlyweds. Otherwise, everything was fine. The location is good, less than 10 min walk to main area of San Diego downtown, and also facing to […] a Metro Transit System (train) so that you can go around the city. There are grocery store, deli, seven eleven, etc. around the block and next. Overall, I can recommend the hotel. Lisateave

Great location. Very cool building that was a former bank. It even has meeting / banquet rooms in what used to be the bank's vault and board rooms. Our room was in excellent condition and comfortable, though it had no view. Excellent deal for the price and I would stay there again.

This is the hotel i will continue to stay at whenever i go to San Diego. In walking distance to all the nightlife hotspots and horton plaza is 2 blocks away! Perfect!!!

Quality of service was great. Awesome how the hotel let's you wander inside, mini museum. We like the history behind the hotel and the pictures of the bank and how San Diego was years ago.

The hotel was nice, location was great. The only problem was that the doors were to thin so you were able to hear everything and everyone. But over all great space. I would def go back and book a room there.

The hotel is extremely old, We paid way to much for the room was very small. We had to move rooms as can hear water moving thru the pipes and the pipes making a jack hammer sound thru the walls and once we moved down the hall I still heard this noise. I didnt not feel safe walking around the hotel at night, there were alot of homeless people asking […] for money right out the doors and the surrond area were very dirty. Also they charge you $33.00 dollars a night to park your car there, even as a hotel paying guest. The Room was small but clean and bed was comfy but only a sheet and small blanket on top. was cold. Our stay started out fine - the bellman/conceirge was very friendly and helpful, and the fact that his name was McQueen was a huge hit with our 3 year old! Check in was quick and easy, and they offered and furnished us with a refrefidgerator and crib without us having to ask. Unfortunately, that experience was the highlight. The room seemed fine. Clean […] – no frills. Our first issue was that the tub stop was broken, which meant no bath for the kids. I called the front desk and they sent someone up quickly and replaced the broken part. No worries... these things happen, and they took care of it quickly. It was around 11pm when a loud noise started eminating from the wall. Sounded like a jackhammer. After a few minutes... and the kids waking up... I figured that it was something to do with the water in an adjacent room. Like a faulty pump. Regardless, I was not sure how long it was going to go on, so I called the front desk. The gentleman who I spoke with was suprised, as if he had never received a complaint like this before, which really seemed disengenous, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, he reluctantly offered to switch our room out. However, at 11:00pm with a baby and a 3 year old, and all of our stuff... that did not seem like the right move. I did want someone to come check it out though. He arrived some time later, and of course the noise stopped by then, and again he told us that they had no idea what it was, and they never received a complaint about it. He offered us a free buffet breakfast. He did tell me that he would pass it along to the manager, and they would follow up the next day. That follow up never occurred. The next day we again were assaulted by that noise, but it was in the morning, and now it was clear that it had something to do with a shower/plumbing of a nearby room. However, we did not get THIS noise the next night. No, instead we got a raucous after-party which flowed through the halls and rooms and again, when I cal Lisateave

This is a clean and well maintained hotel. The only problem is parking. There is no parking on the hotel grounds and the valet parking is $33.00 per night. If you choose you can self park two blocks away for $15.00 per night.

weird noise coming from some big cooler type machines outsde our window so loud i couldnt sleep

The stay was good. We went to Stingaree, which is very close to hotel. We brought some people back to the hotel, which was no problem. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We did not want to get out of bed because of the comfort of the bed and we were all hungover! haha. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to hangout at the bars because it is […] so close. This hotel is a classic bank building that was converted into a hotel. It has an elegance and charm of an earlier era, the room was spacious, and the staff courteous and helpful. The location was spectacular, literally one block from the San Diego light rail that took us everywhere, and in the Gaslamp district with its shops and restaurants. Perfect hotel, beautiful old building (without that old building fausty smell). Absolutely lovely, large room, and a beautiful view of the water. Only complaint--and nothing to do with the hotel whatsoever--is parking in downtown San Diego is horrendous. Be prepared for that.

We were very happy with the location and especially the hotel itself. It is a beautifully reconditioned bank building built in 1928 and has retained the charm of that era. Much original marble, teller cages, mail boxes and a staff willing to show you around.

The hotel staff was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgable about the area.

This hotel is in a historical building. The hotel lobby is so beautiful!! It is located in Gaslamp area, San Diego downtown. It is close to everything- shopping, restaurants... 15 minutes walk to the convention center.

I loved this hotel. It was close to food and the mall. It was a little loud at night because of the near by street. I did have a hard time sleeping. The room was really clean and as an old bank had a nice historic feel. I used the fitness center and it was really nice.

Very nice hotel. We stayed here 2 nights the second night the City of San Diego had a black out. The hotel staff did a great job of handling this. Oh it is a 5-8 minute walk to the convention center.

The Hotel was great clean, staff was nice and professional. The homeless people were nasty and right outside the valet door at times. Gaslamp was ok except for the smell of pot in the air as we walked to the Padres game. Valet at 30 a night was not a great price but the text to get your car was nice. Marble lobby in the historic San Diego Bank & Trust building. The "Safe Deposit" level (SD) houses a breathtaking vault on display that is larger than life with polished metalwork and lock mechanism. That level also has a decent fitness center as well. Nice hotel, rather well appointed. Hotel bar and restaurant were decent. Bachelor party weekend. Need I say more? The hotel was accommodating, and put up with our nonsense without any fees or concerns. I would definitely go back for business or pleasure!

This hotel is just half block from the trolley station. The room is nice and clean. Have quite a lot of space in the room. But the breakfast is not complimentary. There is a bar/pub next door. This hotel is generally nice to stay.

Gaslamp District's Courtyard by Marriot hotel occupies a beautiful former bank building-dating from 1928. Everything about the buildings appearance is beautiful-in and outside the building. You need to check out the bank vault on the bottom floor-photo op! The rooms are plain, on the smaill side. No fridge provided-unless you ask. Coffee maker is provided, […] in the bathroom-standard, undrinkable hotel coffee tho. The beds are comfortable, had two queen beds-no backaches the next morning. Best service is provided by the valet staff, every eager to please. Worst service: front desk. Long line to check in, staff moves very slowly. Beware: the free coffee bar (by the front desk) is available until 1000am M-F and until 1100 on S/S. We were told it was available until 1100 everyday and missed out on check-out day. There is a $30 per day parking fee, with unlimited in's/out's. Visit Stone Brewery in Encinitas. Great beer, the tour isn't worth the wait, but the free tasting after is. The restaurant has an expanded selection of beers, but service is very slow!!! San Diego is beautiful, enjoy the city, the beautiful building Marriot chose for it's ok hotel. Lisateave

Finding the hotel was a bit of a chore (since the sign for it is actually on 6th street side of the building, but after doing one circle around, we found it and go ourselves situated. The rooms themselves are nice. Yes, you aren't going to find any fancy view when you look out the window but really, who goes to such a place to spend time viewing out […] a window instead of actually getting out and doing things? The beds are comfy, the bathroom nicely situated and the overall experience was great. In addition, the hotel itself is nicely situated near most of the nightlife and restaurants in the area. From the pictures I wasn't looking forward to our stay but once we got there all staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotels appearance is great, I like how they kept the look of the bank. I would stay here again.
