Holiday Inn Halifax - Harbourview - Dartmouth

Was a good one night stay. Breakfest was great a filling the staff very friendly. Guess its been awhile since I stayed a hotel as I was surprised that I was charges for parking but guess its the norm now.

It was our first time staying here at this hotel and there is nothing bad I can say about this experience. I would recommend this hotel to evryone.

The stay at the hotel was horrible the staff weren't helpful they never even asked how out stay was. We were kept up until 3am by other guests yelling and partying as well as a band playing downstairs. Worst hotel experience of my life.

Room lovely, roomy, full amenities. Breakfast very good and within reasonable price. Location good. My second or third stay here, but ask for a room with a balcony high up for a really good view of the harbour.

A busy hotel -- but one that provides comfort and quiet. The adjacent bridge traffic can be an inhibitor to moving around and getting into Halifax but off rush hours it's OK. Probably great for business people. The dining room was excellent.

The staff are simply remarkable! From the young lady at the front desk to the housekeeping staff, everyone is concerned that your stay is as good as it can be.The facility itself is in need of a major overhaul to bring it up to a standard that is befitting the room rate! The sink was across the hall from the bathroom, that was odd. I have a few complaints- the bathroom was dusty (thick dust in some areas) and there was a hair on the ledge of the tub, we were not notified of the parking charge upon arrival. This was the first time I have ever been asked to pay for parking. I would have thought that the price we paid / night would have covered that. Other than that, no complaints.

we stayed 2 nights June 22 & 23 in room 410 and thought the room was just average....the bathroom could really use some upgrading. Booking my trip with Expedia was so easy for a fairly new computer user. All went according to plan. Travelling from Halifax airport by taxi was quite a distance and I wondered what the hotel would be like. I needn't have worried. The man on reception was courteous and helpful and I was soon in my second floor room, which was conveniently situated near […] the elevator. The room was great with all I required. During my stay there was even a new TV installed. I enjoyed lovely meals in the restaurant and the helpful girls on Reception led me to ride on the Harbour Hopper and take the Shuttle back to the airport- a lot cheaper tha a taxi! Rooms are very outdated and the bathroom/toilet area was very small. Sink was in a separate area with the closet??? Bed was comfortable and restaurant was very good.

The hotel was clean and the bed was very nice. Rooms are standard holiday inn rooms. The service wasn't great, I asked about parking and if we had to pay, they said no, sure enough the $23.00 parking bill showed up the morning of check out. Asked about where to find the ferry the front desk clerk told us it didn't run on Saturday nights. I told her […] my schedule said it did, she ignored me. I walked around and found the ferry terminal and sure enough it ran until just about mid-night. The lack of clear and correct information from the staff is my only complaint. Otherwise the hotel is in a great location, 10 minute walk to ferry terminal and very affordable. Lisateave

Overall we had a pleasant experience for our stay in Halifax. The room was clean and compfortable and the view of the harbour was impressive. Just an observation, some of the furnishings were starting to show their age.

The rooms were spacious and clean with good quality products. The bed was super comfie and of course the choice of pillows is always something I look forward to from Holiday Inn. I found the location awkward to get into. I was supposed to get a Harbour view however it was minimal and I was quite disappointed with that. I did ask to be moved to a higher […] floor to get the view but the hotel was very busy that day. My biggest complaint was I requested a bowl and spoon and was told that room service would charge me 2.95 to bring it....seriously? Pros: clean and well kept, could get a good view if you are lucky, good location to downtown Halifax. Cons: difficult to get into, cannot leave the windows open if there are any smokers in the area as they smoke near the building (generally an issue for many hotels, not just this one). Lisateave

I've stayed at many hotels but this one was one of the worst. The bathroom was extremely small and the toilet was really low which made it hard for my mother with arthritis to get up. The hotel restaurant has extremely slow service (we waited 45 mins to get an order of toast and an order of bacon and eggs) and it wasn't even that busy that morning. […] I was disappointed with the location as well. They advertise being walking distance to the ferry terminal but it is a walk all downhill (which means uphill coming back) and it took a lot longer than 10 mins (more like 40) with a small child and an elderly mother. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Halifax Harbourview after spending a day driving through Nova Scotia. It was easy to find on the GPS and we loved crossing the large bridge over to the hotel. The room was clean and I especially loved the pool. It is an outdoor pool and stays open until 9 at night. I arrived late and the fellow kept the pool open late for […] me so I could have a quick swim. I really appreciated that after being in the car driving all day long. Check in and out was quick and easy. the hotel was full but not noisy at all. Would definately recommend it to people travelling. Hotel was very clean with extremely comfortable beds. it was quiet.......no banging doors or loud noises. Enjoyed the close vicinity to the ferry crossing to Halifax. We parked at the ferry crossing but it was close enough to walk. Would definately choose this hotel again.

We stayed in Dartmouth because it cost at least $30/night to cross the harbour to a Halifax hotel - and way more than that to be so close to the water! The rooms aren't big, but they've been recently upgraded. Sure, the bathroom tile is dated, but ours was in perfect repair, was super clean and had a great shower head. We didn't have a vehicle, but […] it's at the foot of the very cool MacDonald (sp?) bridge and a nice little walk to the ferry terminal where you can cross straight to the heart of Halifax Harbour for $2.25! We needed to send and receive several faxes, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and there was no charge. There was one thing I was not happy with. One morning I tried to sleep in so I put the do not disturb sign on the door, however, guest services proceeded to knock on the door, woke me up and there goes my sleep. I recommend for the staff to respect the do not disturb signs. All else was wonderful.

Upon booking room, I was told that there was a complimentary shuttle from the Halifax Airport to the Holiday Inn Harbourview, therefore we cancelled family coming to pick us up. Upon arriving at the airport, we were informed we were given the wrong information when we booked and there would be a charge to use the shuttle as there is no complimentary […] service to this Holiday Inn. The staff at the Holiday Inn said there was nothing they could do about the charge as we had booked through Hotels.ca and it was not their problem. When we booked our room we said we would be arriving around 10:00 a.m. and they assured us of early check-in. Upon arrival to the hotel at 11:00 a.m., we did not get a room until 2:00 p.m.. I am not sure where everyone is getting their information but I wish there was some communication. That was strike 2 on the hotel. Otherwise, the stay wasn't too bad.
